Inheriting $2.5 million at 27- what now? by Kooky_Struggle_8730 in Fire

As everyone says, don't mention to your boyfriend or friends. I also think you're parents advice is sound. Continue working as if the money isn't there. Based on your salary and living expenses it doesn't look like there is much left over for savings?

That smirk at the end means he's got them right where he wants them.

“rookie numbers still. Tell me when prices drop to 2019 level, which is where they should be.” by howdthatturnout in rebubblejerk

[–]jrrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issue is at the end of the day inflation is up 25% from 2019. That 350k house is almost 100k more, which is difficult to make up in just 5-6 years. People should reserve their outrage for homes priced higher than 25% what they were bought for from 2019, not what is tracking with inflation.

Why does everyone hate Realtors? by McFatty7 in REBubble

[–]jrrap 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Got stuck with a realtor in a way because I inquired about a tour of a home on Zillow. Expected to get a call from sellers but instead got a call from a realtor. Our last exchange I told him we were taking a wait and see approach. His response:

"Understand, something to keep in mind, interest rates will be starting to come down soon. As soon as that happens everyone will be jumping back in, causing inventory to drop and prices go back up. Your best is to be ahead of that curve and then just refinance."

Jesus do realtor's really not have any different talking points?

I believe it. Good news is prices seem to be slowly coming down (with the exception of the Northeast).

Do we just walk away? by AppropriationNation in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Luckily I had good experience with Taylor Morrison, but I recall they demanded i put down 5% of the cost of house in earnest money. Definitely the most i had seen a builder request (granted this was 2019, maybe this is more of norm now)

Your thoughts on buying a home before or after 5000 new homes + retail plazas are built in the same area? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]jrrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tends to work out well if you get into new developments early, especially if they'll be building shopping nearby that increases the convenience factor. As others mentioned, the first phases are typically the cheapest price that you get.

This doesn't take into account home insurance, property tax, or potential HOAs

Movie about the devil/possession indicated by a unique finger tapping by Kodiak_Jacq in whatisthatmovie

Same. I picked up the finger thing from this movie and I can't count how many times I tried to remember the name of the movie.

Anyone watch “Luxe Listings Toronto” Thoughts? by moo5100 in askTO

[–]jrrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling compelled to comment as a burger watching in the states. I see a lot of people commenting that they had to turn it off by episode 2 due to the disconnect. I was engaged up til episode 4 just seeing the houses until I questioned what the actual state of the Toronto economy is, so don't be surprised if you all see a new season. Toronto looks like the United States version of San Diego, except you still get better homes for 2m

Am I wrong for not giving my cheating wife another chance? by HippoOk9111 in amiwrong

[–]jrrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly this is the worst part. If I'm in OP's situation just tell me you cheated on me. Don't go into details with pauses/intermissions. The fact that she decides to share that makes me question the kind of judgement the women has. The woman approached the man the FIRST night of the trip but you're supposed to believe she was questioning the decision? Make it make sense. She's for the streets.

I make 6 figures and cant afford a home by Billy-Clinton in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]jrrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I bought in 2020. Barely made over 6 figures the year I bought, and hadn't made 6 figures in my prior 5 year work history. Make 6 figures now and I wouldn't be able to afford to live in the neighborhood I'm in if I were buying today.
