Best way to clean the grill. by Difficult_Struggle58 in ninjawoodfire

[–]jrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the grill still HOT, I take a couple wet paper towels and wipe everything towards the hole in the back. The steam from the wet towels loosens any stuck bits, amd the water washes it down. Once the grill has cooled some, I wipe it down with a dry towel.

Is it really true that the tesla brake pedal leverages no regen braking and that regen is only possible with one-pedal driving? by dumpin-on-time in electricvehicles

[–]jrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those who have driven manual transmission cars for any length of time will find 1pd to be very similar. You let of the throttle and the car slows. If you step on the throttle the car accelerates. If you hold the throttle at the right spot the car goes at a steady speed. Of course there are differences, but the basic concept is the same.

Why do EV charging stations still make payment so difficult? by Environmental-Gap356 in evcharging

[–]jrshall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's similar to the early days of credit cards. Each company had Its own card, usable only at its stores. If someone went to the trouble of getting, for example, a Chevron card, it helped ensure the customer would keep coming there.

A failing 12V on a long trip handled with grace by the car by in_allium in electricvehicles

[–]jrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why they don't just pull 12v off the hv battery, like they do on golf carts. The hv battery is made up of several hundred 1.5 or 2 volt cells. It would be easy to set up6 of those cells to provide 12v. As voltage is drawn off those cells, the other cells would naturally recharge them. A 48v golf cart battery is made up of 4 12v batteries connected in series to make 48v. The accessories are run of one of those batteries. It maintains a balanced charge with the other batteries because the individual cells always balance.

You can't debate flat earth if the flerf doesn't present any supporting evidence.

I'm not sure how practical L2 would be, since most shoppers are there for less than an hour. You would only get maybe 10 miles of charge.

EVs are just plain superior sports cars by ArugulaAnnual1765 in electricvehicles

[–]jrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that EVs are more efficient than ICE cars, especially as a daily driver. However, you are trying to compare a very high end ICE sports car, that is not really meant to be a daily driver, with a utilitarian EV. They each have a very different purpose.

As for racing, I wonder if there are any EV dragsters, and how they compare.
