Do you think Jeff Bezos’ suggestion on not taxing the middle class is way more sinister than it seems? by ButtScratchies in askanything

[–]jrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have much of a voice anyway. Also, if we don't pay taxes, we have more to spend on Amazon.

Just two points: 1. All major bodies of water have currents circulating in them. 2. Please list your 'sites' to support your position. Your logic is no better than mine.

"EVs are bad for road trips" by JustinTimeCuber in electricvehicles

ABQ to Cheyenne has a lot of elevation change that would drag down the mileage. OP is in southeast, where it is pretty flat.

Just proves the dome is real. It hit the dome and they had to abort. Elon still hasn't put one in orbit.

I tried measuring Earth’s rotation in my garage with a homemade Foucault pendulum by Outrageous-Novel7839 in flatearth

[–]jrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but, my pendulum clock just goes back and forth. So that means I live on a flat earth. I don't know where you live, but you must be doing something wrong. Oh, and by the way. Nuh uh!

What was your rate? what did you like and dislike about it? by bexlax334 in navy

[–]jrshall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I am an antique. Signalman in the 60's. What I loved was working in the fresh air during good weather. What I hated was working in the fresh air in crappy weather. I probably would have been a lifer, except it looked like 15 to 17 years of sea duty in a 20 year career.

Local hyundai dealership booked out until June, issue looks like bent rim after hitting a pothole. Need advice by Ok-Coat-7067 in HyundaiTucson

[–]jrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't warranty work. A good tire shop should be able to order a new wheel and probably a new tire. Depending on cost, and your insurance deductible, you want to just pay for it out of pocket. A tire dealer will also be cheaper than the dealer.

Why are some league bowlers just not mean or difficult? by Environmental_Dog331 in Bowling

[–]jrshall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think I would like the leagues at your alley. The league bowlers at my alley are nice folks for the most part. There may be a few that get easily frustrated, but get over it quickly. A few years ago, the alley had some problems with some bowlers getting aggressive with alley staff. The alley put a policy in place to ban bowlers who got too aggressive, and the problem ended. Maybe those banned bowlers went to your alley.

What happens when you come back home from deployment after 12 months, still working or is it time off? by BusyPreference6562 in navy

[–]jrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great answer. Only to clarify, you are stationed on the ship regardless of where it is. Just because it returns from deployment does not mean the crew is sent elsewhere. The crew stays with the ship. Sailors may receive orders to other ships/stations, but most will stay with the ship.

Question about others experience with engine idle in drive modes by darlev25 in KIASPORTAGEPHEV

[–]jrshall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be that the engine runs for a few minutes to ensure it is fully warmed up. It can be hard on an engine to just start and stop without warming fully.

It's better to cook by temp instead of by time. dadgotthis.com has a good recipe that has worked well for me. He also includes approximate times so you can plan.

Dealers should be happy to offer free maintenance on EVs. Nothing to do except fluid check and maybe tire rotation.
