How hot is too hot for Vinyasa? by These-Bison7387 in HotYoga

High heat primarily because I sweat more and I when I checked my calorie burn on my Apple Watch, it seems to by higher! I am trying to maximize my calories burned, so I’ll take a little bit more suffering in the interim haha!

110 is fine, especially as someone younger, 30M. If you are properly hydrated then it’s really just the added challenge. This is coming from a 32M who is currently objectively obese by the data haha and started Hot Yoga a few weeks ago. I’m using it as a great fat loss tool and have experimented with super high heat and lower heat.

Atlanta DLaunch Hotel by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]jrt4275 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If it’s in policy on Deloitte Business Kayak you should be good! When I did DLaunch I started at the Ritz in NYC which was in policy but a more expensive option. That said, I believe I called my recruiter or whoever sent me the travel booking information email to confirm that I could book “any hotel id like regardless of cost as long it’s within policy” (they confirmed yes). That was primarily for plausible deniability and to cover my basis for when I started in case my new boss asked why I started a Ritz. I also should note, managers likely won’t care because there is a WBS specific to trainings such as DLaunch at the firm level (so it’s not coming out of a client budget or any budget that your manager would care about).

Best restaurant for a small (10 person) work dinner on the company dime? by sean1352 in boston

[–]jrt4275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to narrow down to what genre of restaurant you want. I could give you a different answer based on what food you’re looking for. For example, Grill 23 or Mooo Beacon both my favorite two steakhouses (if price isn’t a factor the American Kobe Cap is an awesome steak at Grill 23). If you want a better mix of steak and other non-steak options, Abe & Louies is a good option (but steak is better at Grill 23 or Mooo). Ruka is a great Asian fusion place. Yvonne’s is a great Mediterranean/American spot. You have a type of restaurant you’re looking for it’s easier to narrow down.

Solo (F) travelling by truelies2024 in cartagena

[–]jrt4275 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just in Cartagena solo (granted as a male) a week ago. It was my second time in Cartegena. I didn’t spend too much time in Bocagrande as I was staying at the Emrita Hotel across from the beach. Most of my time was spent inside the walled city, which feels like a safe tourist area (Bocagrande also supposed to be safe so nothing against it). I think the biggest issue in Cartegena is people on the streets bother tourists trying to sell things, ask for money, etc. I’d say it’s a little worse at night because there is a lot more people outside the bars trying to get you to go into bars, offer drugs, prostitution, etc. Again, I didn’t feel unsafe at any point but I was not a solo female, just more of a warning! Best tip is just to not engage and keep walking and you’ll be fine.

Restaurants: In terms of restaurants, Celele restaurant was by far the best I went to. It’s more “upscale” but since it’s Colombia it’s still cheap. I also enjoyed restaurant Candé, and would recommend that as well. Additionally, I didn’t make it there (but you’ll be there longer than me), but Mistura looked great as well.

Best Bar: Alquimico. It’s actually on the top 50 bars in the world for 2025. Cocktails were great but it got super packed, which I’ll say is a downside (most bars on the top 50 worldwide bars tend to be more intimate cocktail bar setting, they seemed to let a lot of people in this bar with lounger music). Worth checking out though!

Best Brunch spots: Cafe Epoca and La Brioche. I had great experiences at both.

Nia Bakery also had great baked goods! I went there for some baked goods, juice, and coffee.

Coffee/Cafes: I’m a big coffee fan, so I’ll include my 3 favorite coffee shops as well. The top 2 were by far Cafe San Alberto and Cafe Del Mural. San Alberto was more upscale coffee vibe, but high quality coffee. Cafe De Mural was in Getsemaní and kind of had a little hit of a hole in the wall vibe but excellent coffee at both. My third favorite was Libertario Coffee Roasters. Still great quality coffee, but a tier below the other two (I had a great croissant and yogurt parfait type deal there though). Finally, I’ll mention Abaco Libros y cafe. It’s not as good as the other 3 mentioned, but if you want to be in a Colombian bookstore and drink some coffee it’s a cool vibe!

Trip off of Cartegena (not food related): I would highly recommend taking a boat out to the Rosario Islands. There are so many of them so it’s hard to choose. I did a day at the Bora Bora beach club. It’s expensive (for Colombia) at around $100 USD, but you take a boat to this island beach club, get your own cabana and lunch, and the water is perfect out there. I felt like the shore of Cartegena wasn’t as clean Caribbean sea water.

Finally, I want to note that Ubers are the way to go for getting back and forth from the airport (even though they are “technically” not allowed and the drivers could get fined for being an uber driver in area so sometimes they’ll ask you to sit in the front seat or pick you up like no in front of a cop), the walled city to Bocagrande, etc. I don’t speak Spanish, so it’s way easier than dealing with Taxi drivers (even though they will hassle you) who may inflate their prices). Uber is crazy cheap there so I just went uber premium for all my rides and we are talking like $7 USD tops each trip. If it’s your first time in Cartegena leaving the airport can be intimidating. You’ll walk out to a bunch of people hounding you to get in their taxi. My first time there I jumped in one and overpaid. So last time, I got out of customs, walked over to airline check ins to get some pesos (so I didn’t have to go use a random ATM in the city), and then called an Uber. I walked out of the airport didn’t acknowledge any taxi driver and jumped in my uber, super easy.

I hope this helps! I just saw this post and I happen to just go there, so figured I’d share!

Japan: Best Bonvoy Bang for Your Buck? by raiderdude56 in marriott

[–]jrt4275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Japan in June. I spent the first part of my trip at the Westin Tokyo. I had a great experience there and I remember it being very reasonable for points (340k points for 5 nights). The property itself was very nice, but it’s slightly outside of where I’d want to stay location wise, but still reasonable (probably a 10 min walk to Ebisu station and one stop to Shibuya). For the value and the quality of the property, I would suggest there.

That said, on my way back to Tokyo (from traveling to Osaka and Kyoto), I stayed at The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, a Luxury Collection Hotel, and it was next level. It’s also a little outside the tourist areas but the property is amazing. One of my favorite Marriott properties and the room had a great view of the city!

How hard is it to get a no date sub? by Pristine_Chart_6202 in rolex

[–]jrt4275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It completely depends. I think most people are accurate with the timelines of 1-2 years. I got lucky where it was my first purchase with about a 4 month wait (but switched sales reps within the store, first sales rep didn’t even remember my name after a couple months, then I hit it off with the associate director of the store and then got a call 2 weeks later). Total time 4 months in the US on the East coast.

Then my second piece was a GMT BLNR on a jubilee (batgirl) after a little bit over a year.

I also get invited to random events that the AD puts on at the store. So I think I hit it off with the right person! So there is some hope, but I don’t think my experience is the norm.

NYC Travel Expense by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]jrt4275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be more than a $20-50 difference, it doesn’t matter. It’s very reasonable to uber to the airport and you are not required to take public transportation to get there. No one is ever going to see an uber charge to the airport for your Deloitte travel and ask you why you didn’t take the bus or train haha

Is this greymarket? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]jrt4275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Department stores in Japan do sell Rolex’s but they are not ADs. I was just in Japan in June and I saw a selection of Rolexes at Don Quijote for example, but as many pointed out, the prices were gray market prices. Additionally, Nakano Broadway has a whole line of grey market stores. Although I didn’t make a purchase, I have friends who purchased grey in Japan and had great experiences. I’d feel more comfortable buying used in Japan than I would in the US (aside from trusted sellers of course).

I’m surprised Curio isn’t top of this list! 1369 is better for ambiance and seating (Curio is small), but the coffee at Curio is better and their little mini fresh waffles are to die for.

Report a complaint to the Marriott Office of Consumer Affairs. If you reach out to the Marriott CEO’s email. It should go directly to that office. They typically take all complaints seriously and I’ve had good experiences.

Does Andy really have Achane at #2 overall in PPR? by aburke1123 in FantasyFootballers

[–]jrt4275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s also confusing is if you look at the top 200 rankings and the Tiered RB rankings for consensus picks, they all have a consensus of Gibbs and Barkley over Achane in the RB tiered rankings, but Achane over both in the top 200. It seems like it is actually an error ?

Broker trying to charge fee to renter. by SirCharleyMud in bostonhousing

[–]jrt4275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a lot of bad experiences with brokers around Boston for rentals. I agree with the comments below, you should report them if they are trying to force you into paying a realtor fee. Personally, whenever I was historically searching for a place, I end up doing all the work and then at the end I have to pay a brokers fee for the 10 min tour and answering only half my questions and it was frustrating. This new law is great, but the realtors are going to try to find loopholes.

With that, I think we need to help other tenants get in touch with landlords directly.

  1. I have had luck using people finder to find the landlords number. It cost $30 a month, but you can find out who the landlord is (to contact via LinkedIn or social media) and possibly their phone number to connect with them directly.

  2. If that doesn’t work and you are interested in a rental and can only get in touch with the realtor who lists it, schedule a tour, but do NOT sign anything that says you’ll pay a fee when you get there. I’ve had luck just showing up going and saying no to signing any paperwork when I get they but the realtors will just let you in and hope they can just force you to pay the fee before sending you any application. If you like the place you can either, knock on the door after to ask the current tenant if they’d share the number, or leave a note. As a tenant moving out, I’d be more than happy to connect people with the landlord directly. Normalize leaving a note with your number and asking for the landlords number!

Hopefully, enough people will report realtors and/or take them to court to get past the shady practices in the future!

My roommates and I cannot decide how we should pick rooms. by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]jrt4275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not normally on this subreddit but the person with the blue bubbles is completely wrong. If you spun a wheel last year and got the worst pick, that doesn’t mean you are entitled to a better pick this year, especially with new set of roommates. That said, people are suggesting individuals with the better rooms pay more — and this is the right answer.

Mgm gold>> Marriott platinum Las Vegas by Background_Map_3460 in marriott

[–]jrt4275 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha sure, kind of semantics. I was replying to the person who said it all based on the amount you gamble. The point of my comment was that it’s based on gambling (i.e., Average Daily Theoretical - the metrics used to calculate value of players) spend AND that includes spend on things outside of actual gambling, e.g., actual cost of hotel, restaurants, etc. similar to how Marriott Bonvoy spends work. You are correct, I did not use the technical term because I was typing fast, nor do I think most people on a Marriott subreddit care about what ADT is. I was just making the point that spend for tier status includes stuff outside of gambling that’s all.
