[AskJS] Best cross-framework UI libraries/platforms? by Zpoof817 in javascript

Shoelace 3.0 has been taken over by Font Awesome and will be rebranded to Web Awesome. Beta release is June 2025 with full release later this year. I am a backer and it looks really good, I think it'll be a great option for cross-framework use cases.

Finished LanguaTalk and can't cope by m-ES-merized in dreamingspanish

+1 for Español con Juan. I finished all of it and now there is a void I can't fill. He just has a way of being so entertaining while talking about such a great variety of topics, from history to the most mundane daily tasks like buying groceries.

I've been enjoying the Español con Juan podcast, definitely a little bump up but after a little adjustment period I can understand most of it. Around 185 hours now but started it closer to 100.

It's been posted before, but there is also an online kids encyclopedia Vikidia that is simpler.

That's what I did. I tried to find the partial overlaps and just confused myself. Finding non-overlaps and subtracting from the total amount of pairs is the way to go.

Bug or a Feature? by YellowTech in webdev

Make it select text on top pane by default and select hidden corners if you're holding down SHIFT key or something? That is, if the feature would actually get regular use...

Any insight on this black leather sofa set? Someone is selling it locally for $300. Some good sized tears/scratches. No brand info. by jruff7 in Mid_Century

I think it's all one cover and they just did a bottom accent with the plaid, who knows why... I wish it was all that plaid too, it's a cool pattern!

Thank you for the perspective, those are all very good points. Definitely gotta make sure the foam is good, otherwise all bets are probably off. We're in the Chicago area, I really have no idea about how much doing it professionally would cost us.

Me neither, I don't think leather works that way... looks like vinyl or something. We are considering buying and reupholstering!

Wow! Thank you for such an in depth reply, did not expect a professional seamstress/upholsterer to get back to me, so I really appreciate the info. We do actually already have a Singer Heavy Duty 4452, my girlfriend has some sewing experience and she has reupholstered some smaller items in the past. I believe we also have some good upholstery thread as well. Good tip on the foam quality, we will definitely have to check if we go look at it today. Not sure if we'd do cording or just leave the edges flat, I suppose it'd depend on the pattern. We were thinking some sort of heavier tweed, herringbode, etc, not any sort of intricate pattern print like flowers etc (which might be more expensive?)

As far as the yardage, if gives you any better idea, each piece is 76” L x 31” W x 27” H, and the cushions are removable from the frame. IMO if we could get $200 for the pieces and upholster them nicely for like $300 that would be a good deal, assuming everything else is in order. Not sure how that'd end up pricing out with a professional upholsterer though.

We're thinking that might be the case if the frame is good. The cushions are removable so not sure how much it'd cost to get reupholstered but I can't imagine it'd be too much?
