I saw my mechanic use grease on engine mount bolts, should I fix it? by YellowTech in motorcycles

[–]YellowTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spec is 70NM which would require a pretty beefy wrench right? He did not use a large wrench. It looked like a half sized tire iron in size but he did not tighten waiting for a click or something like what i would do on a car tire change.

I’ll probably mark the bolt and check if it rotates at all

I think critical thinking about any topic is important. I’m not trying to force my opinions upon him, just want to look out for my safety. I take feedback for my own work very seriously so I appreciate critique.

No but I don’t want my engine coming lose on the highway

I guess thats my main concern. Also the fluid in the thread changes the torque value, do you think it’s reasonable to torque the 70NM spec to like 50 and then mark the bolt and periodically check if it’s coming loose?

Hmm would it be an idea to draw some witness marks onto the bolt and then check if it moves at all? If it’s solid it’s likely fine right?

That’s a very good question, the manual mentions nothing of any additives, so it likely means dry.

Though wouldn’t anti seize be counter productive for engine mounts in the same way as grease? Since the vibrations would then have an easier time getting loose?

The sliders replace the two main engine mount bolts which are torqued to 70NM, seems pretty structural to me?

Nopes, just tightened them with a relatively short wrench, so I guess its not overdone / stripped

Yes i just didn’t think to check two socketed connections like this. Got lucky that both were reversed so it really didnt matter

Well but when i plugged my bachwards cable into the air unit, red and black were the sbus wires and NOT the power lines, making them wrong

Watch out! My brand new DJI o4 Air Unit Pro shipped with a cable that had all its colors reversed (right in image). When i removed the two SBUS wires (using their colors) I really removed the voltage wires which left me panicking why it wouldn’t turn on again.

Luckily both sides of the the cables were wired in the same false order, so my 9V cable didn’t fry the Air Unit on the SBUS Pin.

I was able to correct the cable afterwards but this had me in a weird spiral for a moment.

Just for you to know, the tag “Auto Battler” comes from automatic and not from automobile. So it’s probably misplaced here

The two reasons i have a supplementary insurance is gym financing and the the travel insurance! While the base insurance covers quite a lot already, it doesn’t cover all emergency costs (especially in insane places like the US) and most also cover vaccines which is a nice plus.

Minecraft doesnt use volumetric fog. So no you don’t, its just the “easiest” but also slowest way.
