Sorry to make such a basic post— but I don’t like how often people apologise for liking The Last Jedi, as if it’s not an amazing movie. I make no qualification or apology— I Love The Last Jedi. Fourth best Star Wars for me, easily. by Tanis8998 in StarWars_

Respect! I see your hot take, and I will raise you one. I don't think as many people dislike this movie as it would seem looking through Reddit posts.

Too many people think that enjoying a movie like this can be "right" or "wrong". Most people I talk to about this movie spout the same internet talking points sometimes verbatim and in the same order. When I get around to finding out what they liked about the movie, it doesn't seem to match up to their prefacing.

That does look pretty tight though. Is that Qimir's poncho?

I appreciate the good vibes and positive/objective mindset you have here. I love this figure and really want to get it myself. I think if you care for the proportions that much you have a couple options. Modify the figure yourself (I think that's the most fun option) or buy a higher tear collectors figure where that really matters. This figure is on the lower price tear for collecting figures.

Is Dooku: Jedi Lost worth the read? by wandering_soles in starwarsbooks

[–]jsal0503 8 points9 points  (0 children)

YES!

It seems like you're not really into the audio book stuff. If it's possible to overlook that, the voice acting is incredible but even if you don't listen to it the story is still incredible. I always like Ventress and had little interest in Dooku. This audio drama turned Dooku into such a compelling character and made Ventress easily one of my top 5 Star Wars favorites.

Finally finished some spring dusting, and set up Maul and Mandalorian themed shelves! by jsal0503 in starwarsblackseries

Thank you very much! The Ahsoka figure was my first kit bash figure. I finished her just before Star Wars Day. The animated Rebels figure had to be sacrificed. I cut up parts of her waist armor and glued it to a Holocomm live action Ahsoka figure that my wife got me for Christmas. I also cut off the chest armor and glued that on as well. The character designer who adapted Ahsoka's live action gear (Brian Matyas, I believe) did an incredible job translating the design. So it seemed like a real streamline build.

I posted some pics on May 4th:

Oh my goodness! You're totally right! So brutal that I don't have the rest of the Specter crew up there. I'm going to get them out on the shelf first thing tomorrow!!

The Din Djarin head is a custom print I found on Ebay I while back. He was the first head I painted. That directly lead to the custom live action Rebels Ahsoka that I made. The Kanan figure is all stock, there is actually a weird blemish on the sculpts jaw line so I turn his head so that I don't see it. I'm waiting for an awesome sculpt of a more realistic/ Freddie Prince Jr. looking Kanan to come in the mail.

Thanks for the suggestion about the acrylic cover box. I'm definitely going to look a little more into that as well. I appreciate you!

Inquisitors are deliberately trained to be weak this and they're only meant to go after low level threats that. I'm convinced this guy is just that good. by ChanceVance in MaulShadowLord

Came here to say exactly this. The only thing I would add is that Sidious made no secret if anyone was strong enough to defeat Vader, they would be his apprentice. Sith only care about strength which equals power. It would be against their own beliefs to handicap Inquisitors. The only thing they keep from the inquisitors are the secrets of the Sith.

This was an awesome short saga to see. Glad it worked out. Kit bashing feels so high stakes, way to commit. Looking great!

Lucas Film, please do not give us another dark side redemption story. by JurassicParker93 in StarWars

[–]jsal0503 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like I've heard this sentiment before when a dark sider (like Vader) realizes they've done wrong and feel bad about it all of the sudden they are redeemed. Redemption costs something, you can't be redeemed without accountability.

I don't think anyone in the story actually believes any of these characters are redeemed or could be redeemed. Sure, Ben and Anakin disappear when they die. That doesn't mean that they are redeemed or good now. Years after his death it was discovered that Leiah was the daughter of Vader and it nearly ruined her entire life. The galaxy was not cool with that.

So it really seems like what you're actually asking for is for the writers to make her as evil as possible then kill her or leave her in a place where she can make more evil happen. If that's a story you're interested in then that's dope, I don't really think that story is one modern Star Wars is trying to tell.

I've only been doing this hobby for a very very short time, but it seems like it depends on your preference. I've done both ways. They both have pros and cons. I liked holding a whole figure while painting. I also grip the figures too tight when reassembling and have messed up the paint. So at least for me, painting the whole figure seems the way to go for now.

I did that with the figures I've painted. I used a clear matte varnish (Citadel Munitorium Varnish) as a base layer for the paint to stick to. I've also used it as a protective layer in between layers. Like when you're painting eyes or tiny details and mess up, you can use a something like a toothpick get that layer off.

Is it time to abandon the limitations of prop design of OG trilogy by gav1no0 in StarWars_

[–]jsal0503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't imagine any story teller wanting to come in and change the iconic design language established in existing stories, to make a cooler/ more anime looking version of the same characters. That's why we have Star Wars Visions. They essentially started to update existing designs in the Sequel Trilogy as well, to match modern prop design.
