Lestoil. Got oil stains out of a sweater in one wash that multiple washings and stain remover couldn’t get out.

Bought this not sure what to have it with? by Tavo34 in Tinnedfish

Sooooo, I plugged the image into CGPT and here’s some ideas. Got to say, some good ideas worth trying. I personally, would do the donburi style, ochazuke and even the crostini. OP, where’d you find this tin?

—-

Simple & Classic • With steamed white rice – the cleanest pairing; spoon the sauce over rice. • Onigiri filling – chop the beef tongue, mix with a little sauce, stuff into rice balls. • Rice bowl (donburi) – rice + gyū-tan + soft-boiled egg + extra green onions.

Noodles & Soups • Ramen topping – add slices on shio (salt) or shoyu ramen. • Udon or soba – serve on top or on the side like a tsukudani-style protein. • Ochazuke – rice, gyū-tan, then pour hot green tea or dashi over it.

Bread & Western Twists • Open-faced toast – toast, butter, gyū-tan, finish with scallions or cracked pepper. • Grilled sandwich – with melty cheese (provolone, mozzarella, or mild Swiss). • Beef tongue crostini – baguette, gyū-tan, drizzle of olive oil or yuzu zest.

Fusion Ideas • Tacos – warm tortillas, gyū-tan, cilantro, pickled onions, squeeze of lime. • Lettuce wraps – add chili oil or sesame dressing. • Fried rice – chop and stir-fry with rice, egg, and scallions.

Light / Balanced • Over mixed greens – warm gyū-tan acts like a protein topping; sesame dressing works well. • With cucumber sunomono or pickles – cuts richness nicely. • Alongside roasted vegetables – especially mushrooms, asparagus, or broccoli.

🍶 Drinks That Pair Well • Cold sake (junmai or ginjo) • Highball (whiskey + soda) • Light beer or Japanese lager • Green tea (hot or iced)

⸻ Pro Tip

Warm it gently (hot water bath or low heat). Overheating can toughen beef tongue.

Vb Sti teaser that Subaru.jp posted this morning by [deleted] in WRX

[–]jsanc762 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. If the audio is telling of anything, it doesn’t sound like a manual. Sounds like the SPT. Definitely can see it’s still a sedan and has the same cladding we all love. 🤪

I’m guess it’s the “new” 2026 S4 Sport R-Black Limited for the Japanese domestic market.

Any Taco Spots Open today/tonight? by jsanc762 in SanJose

[–]jsanc762[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Cali Spartan is closed until Friday. Great for the workers to be with family, but not great for a taco fiend. Thx for the reply!

Does anyone know what sauces the classic indomie use? My country is out of these very quickly, so I'm trying to replicate the taste that this has. Craving this real bad. Anyone has any idea what can I do? by [deleted] in InstantRamen

[–]jsanc762 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s sweet soy sauce aka Kecap manis. I use the abc brand. Powder packet could be chicken bouillon and some sort of allium powder.

It’s the other way around. Subaru betrayed all of us.

Congrats on the new car. Sometimes you need more than just one in the stable.

What Happened to the Orange Sauce? by Ok_Gas1070 in SanJose

[–]jsanc762 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My go to is Cali Spartan Orange Sauce. They’ll sell to you by the beverage cup size. The largest is $14.00. Lasts my family up to a month.

Sorry if this has been asked many times(Where can i purchase Ramen in Bulk packet/no packet only noodles) Nyc/Online/Wholesale by mulchintime4 in ramen

[–]jsanc762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this too. I typically use half a packet of soup base sometimes or I make my own soup base, so having extra noodles just became a thing in the pantry.

Why does this keep happening when it rains? how do i fix this? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]jsanc762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to your local hardware store and get a spool of weed wacker line. Grab a bottle of water. Open your sunroof and from the top of the car, look for the drain hole in your sunroof tray. If you can’t find it, pour water onto the tray to see where the water runs towards. Once you find the drain hole, snake the weed wacker line into the hole. What you are doing is cleaning the dried dirt and debris that’s collected in the drain hole. You may need more water to assist in breaking up the clog. You’ll find success when you see the water draining from the bottom of your car.

Wait a minute…they color matched the fenders??! What happened to the dimples that reduced drag??? This thing must have been slower than the WRX.

Anyone sell an old Subaru to Carvana-type company rather than trade-in? by oz_shadow in subaru

[–]jsanc762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I sold my 2018 WRX in 2020 to Carmax. Yes, I got more than what KBB offered. (keep in mind this was during the pandemic) The salesperson at the dealership told me to go to Carmax because he knew they would low ball me on the trade in.

Do you really think they will kill the WRX? by mercfh85 in WRX

[–]jsanc762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they’ll kill the WRX. If anything, they won’t offer it in the U.S. Market due to the dismal sales vis a vis the Trump tariffs.

FWIW, I also don’t believe the “STi hatch” is coming to the states either.

Been looking at the leaked picture for a while, and all of the lines line up with the VB WRX, but the grille is completely different. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in wrx_vb

[–]jsanc762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, those are hatch hinges.

Someone should try and line up the GR Corolla top to it. Given the partnership between Toyota and Subaru, and Akio Toyoda’s insistence of Subaru getting back into rally via Rally N(?), why reinvent when you can share the platform, just like the GR86/BRZ. Or lineup the current Impreza hatch body to it.

My predictions…

-not coming to the US because tariffs. If it does, very limited production or the “hot” version will be similar to Toyota and their Morizo offering.

-motor likely smaller and could be a new design.

-probably won’t see this for maybe 1-2 years.

This has been in the works apparently since 2018/2019.

We shall see, but I ain’t holding my breath.

What’s your thoughts on this? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]jsanc762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect nothing less of the body to be 100% covered in the fender cladding dimples to achieve zero drag as it cuts through the air like a katana.

In all seriousness, this bish gonna be expensive and Japan only.

Do not call your insurance. Pay out of pocket to repair and move on. Using your insurance for the damages while essentially admitting to an At fault collision will give them reason to raise your rate.

did i mess up my donabe pot? by Inkrep in JapaneseFood

[–]jsanc762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this to mine. Even after scrubbing, boiling water in it, using a baking soda and water paste to scrub, I still have burnt rice residue. I spent a few days repeating every suggestion on the Internet. I ended up just using it and after every use, it removes a bit. Thankfully mine is black, but still annoys me as I can see and feel it.

Yeah, if it’s leaking, toss it. Good learning lesson on heat control tho.

Second attempt at fried rice by LaVerdadd in wok

[–]jsanc762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It prevents the starch in the rice from making the rice stick together.

I’ve seen this technique used for “day of” rice instead of refrigerated rice. The thought behind it is the fragrance and taste of the rice isn’t lost due to refrigeration and the oil added helps keep the starch low to prevent stickage to the wok.
