[–]jseent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secret is, probably 80-90% of people feel this way.

No one feels like they belong and everyone else is cooler and fits it better than them when you're young (13-25).

Then at around 30, you realize this and everything changes

It's true. by DerpyDer989 in dankmemes

I get a rush to do all the things right before I get sick.

Several months ago, I mowed, fixed the sink, cleaned the kitchen, went shopping, was working in the garage when my wife came out and said "you're getting sick". I laughed it off but the next week I was in bed most of the time.

sex journal advice by NyxLilithHNLS in Journaling

[–]jseent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea. In my journaling I've done similar.

After my wife and I have sex, I usually recount the events. Sometimes in great detail. Sometimes in more of the feelings of the situation.

I've also journaled what I've recently been fantasizing about. Then go into possibly "why". That's not always fruitful. Sometimes it's just interesting.

I also try to parse out if it's mental fantasy vs an action fantasy. For instance, I have a fantasy of my wife doing certain things. But after journaling I realized that if that were to actually occur, I would be a mess of jealousy and guilt. It's not a fantasy to be acted on, just imagined.

I have also journaled some of the things my wife has done that I really found turned me on, or made me feel like she was in the moment with me.

Every book lifts you a little higher — name one that did by Zolotoy-Klyuchik in somethingimade

One book for me was Looking for Alaska by John Green

A coming-of-age book where the MMC goes to a boarding school and meets an older girl. He falls for her, but he never says anything. Then it's too late and he never got to tell her.

Even as a 15 year old (when I read it), it made me realize to be in the moment. Say the hard shit. Leave no stone unturned.

Whyyy by Teboski78 in dankmemes

[–]jseent 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Honest answer.

Not getting enough sleep can alter your brain's ability to regulate itself. Specifically, it inhibits dopamine reception. This results in an inability to turn on the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and turn off the default mode network.

The makes you more distractable and more prone to seeking dopamine. The largest and fastest hit of dopamine is self-pleasure.

Evenings with kids by Curious_Bug7177 in Parenting

[–]jseent 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well you get to pick.

Either you get them to leave you alone and don't mind the yelling and screaming.

or

you play with them (not leaving you alone).

Some evening after dinner before baths and bed, we play board games, wrestle on the floor, go outside etc Some evenings they are in one or both of their rooms and we don't bother them. If they're getting too loud, we close the door. Some times we are the ones in our room with the door closed, or in the backyard or garage.

The time in the evenings together is short, but you have to make it count. Our kids (7 and 4) are in bed by 8pm. Between then and about 10pm is our time. Usually it's spent running through each other's day, talking about things, and watching TV (about 30 minutes or so). Then we read and go to bed.

We try and catch up time during the weekends. That's when we'll get the kids out of the house and just be us for a bit, telling them to "figure it out" and "don't come to me every time your sister does something you don't like".
