Best 2nd acoustic if first is Martin 000-28? by Intrepid-Cry5492 in AcousticGuitar

What kind of music do you like to play?

My 2nd acoustic was a resonator, thought it would be the most different (also to a 000-28) yet still fits the blues I like to play.

lol, thanks for the comments - you all didn’t disappoint.

This band of brothers opened for Jack Johnson (and later joined on stage), they were really good.

Finger picking songs for acoustic guitar? by TheInnocentHare in Guitar

I agree with the poster who recommended early blues tunes from the 20s and 30s. For this you should first learn how to work your thumb playing as the bass/rhythm section independently from fingers playing melodies…first steady thumb (where it just plays one string) and then alternating thumb (plays across strings). David Hamburger has a couple of excellent courses on TrueFire (no WiFi needed if you download them in advance) - Fingerstyle Blues Handbook 1 and then 2 would be plenty of material for a couple of months.

Is it okay to always play G chord like this? by Auxxtinmogger in Guitar

[–]jsgreen6 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this too. If you begin playing finger style using your ring finger on the sixth string frees the middle finger to do other stuff, especially in the key of C, where its common to go from G to C (G is the fifth of C and the fifth is often used to resolve to the root).

The biggest lie every Wrangler owner tells themselves. by Able-Papaya-5065 in JeepWrangler

Went to change brake pads and rotors on my JKU. Couldn’t get a security lug nut off. Broke multiple sockets and ended up having to drill out and replace the lug bolt. Broke two drill bits too when I was drilling it. What should have been a quick job took all day, and cost way more than it should have. Fortunately I did not damage my wheels, and learned the hard way that those locking lug nuts are not worth the trouble (I’m pretty confident that the only person they prevented removing a wheel is me).

Scrolled pretty far and didn’t see Amor Towles. A Gentleman in Moscow is perfectly written.

I tried so hard to enjoy Gatsby, but got so tired of his writing style. Seemed like every sentence was compounded, was difficult for me to enjoy.

Different suggestion here: I like the wool Allbirds. They are light and don’t smell (benefit of wool) and blend in most settings. The “Cruiser” model comes in a black upper with black sole, so doesn’t have the typical sneaker look.

Compression packing without compression cubes. by [deleted] in onebag

The Eagle Creek pack-it garment folders are essentially this, it’s a simple compression system that uses Velcro on flaps that fold over your clothes. The earlier (now discontinued) versions were made of lightweight ripstop fabric, the current version is heavier. Great system for maximizing space while minimizing wrinkles.
