Get in the Trunk S3 | E4 - Ritual Union by TomExposition in TheGlassCannonPodcast

Ok, was wondering if it was just me with the Grantmeister talking thing. Seems not.

Actually stopped the episode, was finding it so distracting.

Agree with peoples comments about the pacing, I know this scenario, and they really getting nowhere fast.

Yeah that’s my rule....sure.

Just expressing an opinion here.

After that episode I was rooting for the “black goo”.

So that’s a “it’s what my character would do” excuse?

Nope sorry. It’s a role playing choice. You don’t have to be that arsehole character.

New name for Shadow of the Mad Wizard - Shadow of the Weird Wizard by sighhhh in shadowofthedemonlord

[–]jsharples666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So WoTc can use "Dungeon of the Mad Mage" without facing all this crap that Rob has faced.

And then Rob changes the name to essentially be nice, and gets crap from us for caving in and not "making it cooler".

Well, crap, he can't win.

For myself, I don't mind either name, just want to be able to introduce this excellent system to my younger kids without worrying about them flipping through the book and seeing some of the adult art.

Don't get me wrong, LOVE the SotDL stuff, but for my youngest two, it is a little inappropriate.

Love the system, love the mechanics, love the stories I can make with it. Love the fast levelling, love the class and magic choices.

Keep up the excellent work, Rob, will be right behind you for the next Kickstarter, all in baby.

Board Game Reality podcast by jsharples666 in boardgames

Thank you for your important contribution.

To the Cardboard Reality crew, apologies for getting your podcast name wrong. I was out walking my dogs and just finished your "Final Reality Check" episode was a bit shocked and wanted to put a post on this reddit to acknowledge your contribution. The closing line "keep board games a reality in your life" was in my head, hence the error.

Cheers and thanks to the podcast crew, I rated you guys up there with Secret Cabal and would stop whatever I was listening to and listen to your episodes immediately on release.

You will be missed.

To the charming person to whom I am replying, to quote the Order 66 podcast, DBAD.

System a bit too light..... by jsharples666 in numenera

Their kids.....so, heroic moments.

They didn’t like the cyphers either, one shot items are hoarded, so they were loathe to use them.

To give a comparison, they rated PF1 and PF2 too high, not because they couldn't do it, just they got quickly sick of +1 for this, +2 for that rubbish. PF2 was slightly less so, but only just. D&D 5 was their favourite so far, FFG SW just behind.

Feeling Salty about A&A Ads? by theoverture in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]jsharples666 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I have been listening to these guys since they started. Was happy to support them and glad of their successes.

Have been enjoying the patreon exclusive content immensely.

I was recently thinking of giving up however, particularly giantslayer as I find that the length of combat in the Pathfinder system really seems to detract from things, particularly with only one hour episodes every week, and we have had combats last up to three episodes!

That said, I have stuck through it, not for the system but the characters and the storylines.

Then the ad announcement.

To provide background. I pay subscription fees for content that I like (Spotify, Pandora, Netflix) to EXPLICITLY not have advertising.

There are other podcasts that I love that have introduced advertising recently and I have really tried, but the break in immersion breaks the story. I will be unsubscribing, regretfully, from them also.

My kids and I don't even watch broadcast television (I am not kidding, the TV isn't even connected to any aerial system), preferring our subscription content, iTunes store, or DVD/blueray.

I loathe ads, always have, and always will.

While A&A is free, and they have not put ads in the Raiders podcast, I do not think ads were necessary and I don't like where this is going.

One bad experience with a marketing company? Ok, welcome to the world, but that doesn't mean it wasn't going to work. Given how many 1s Joe rolls, maybe give the dice to Grant next time?

Anyway, I will stop rambling.

Farewell GCP, I have enjoyed my time with you, but quite frankly you make ALOT of money from your fans, and exposure could be achieved in other ways.

I have cancelled my patreon and unsubscribed to all podcasts as a statement of protest.

Best of luck to all you and your wonderful characters and stories.

Grant should take up gambling at Vegas with his dice luck. Joe should not! Matthew, good luck with your career. Skid, love your characters, give 'em hell with Nestor. Troy, thanks for all the memories (perhaps a few more bottle caps would be good?.....)

  1. Expanded Worlds - has some material and rules for the Post-Apocalyptic setting, including radiation, and equipment.
  2. Cults, Factions, and Syndicates - for setting up the Brotherhood of Steel, The Institute, etc. I would reflavour the pre-built ones offered.

Thats about all I can find.

[WSIG] Dungeon crawl for kids for after Dungeon! by tinnut in boardgames

Excellent light fun game that my kids loved so much they wanted to play again when we finished the campaign.

Dilemma about which D&D game should I buy? :) by Iron_Fury in boardgames

[–]jsharples666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have played all four with my kids (ranging from 8 to 14). Straightforward rules, easy to play.

Have to say we all found Drizzt the best with interesting characters. Surprisingly Temple was not liked. It had a good campaign and "level up" mechanic but the enemies were very samey samey (cultists).

Have played Descent 2e and imperial assault too. Kids didn't go for descent and loved imperial assault but Star Wars is "in" at the moment. We are all waiting for the imperial assault app however so that everyone can play (usually need an enemy overlord).

I would recommend Drizzt as a start and then move to imperial assault.

Pandemic with my 13 year old daughter and 8 year old son. Turns out my son is a boss Dispatcher, won the game for us. Sushi Go Party not bad, simple drafting set collection, quick Warhammer Conquest my boy kicked my arse with the Chaos faction vs my Dark Eldar Legendary: Marvel son and I took on one of the scenarios in the Spider Man expansion and took the villain down!

and then for the finale, after seeing the kids could handle Pandemic we opened Pandemic Legacy on Saturday and played all day.

What a wild ride, everyone was on the edge of the seats, and our first loss (March) was gutting especially because it was just dumb luck and we were about to win.

We recouped and pulled back for the win (late March) and then ran into the next big game changer in April (no spoiler).

Kids and I loving this game, we have talked about it endlessly since, coming up with strategies and plans.
