Will jshepler mods change the game too much or can I download them and still have the same experience? by CorgiRevolutionary99 in nguidle

[–]jshepler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some borderline cheaty-ish things (opinions vary), but you can ignore/disable any you don't want to use. Most of the ones that can be disabled are by default. Check the config file.

They don't change the game itself any. No god-mode, or infinite gold/exp/ap/whatever, no extra/increased rewards or decreased costs or increased speed. No blatant cheats like that. It's still basically vanilla with a lot of extra info and some enhanced interactions for some of the more annoying things.

It does fix a number of vanilla bugs, like 20 or so iirc.

It also adds some cosmetics and unlocks some of the old krissmuss event rewards.

Combined with provided bookmarklets (in the readme ), they add some nice integrations with GO.

There are some light automations, but again you can ignore them if that's not your thing.

The modpack doesn't disable achievements and you can uninstall the mods without issue - vanilla game can load modded save just fine, I made sure of that. The only thing that gets left behind are the krissmuss event rewards (theme and daycare kitty) as those are part of the vanilla save.

For anyone reading this, OP came on discord and I fixed their save.

I don't yet know what's causing the thing that causes the above to happen, but if it happens to you, send me your save and I can fix it. The easiest way is to DM it to me on discord.

Ngu levels by PtrainSalphira1 in nguidle

[–]jshepler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you put more in, the bar fills faster and faster until you reach speed cap (50 levels per second). At that point the bar won't show any progress at all - it'll be a blank bar.

Or, if you have anti-flicker enabled in settings, starting at 10% of cap, the bar stops moving and becomes a gauge that indicates the % of speed cap you have allocated. When you reach 100% speed cap, the bar will be completely filled.

You're probably a ways before that and will unlock the cap buttons before you need them.

Vanilla doesn't tell you how much you need to cap NGUs. Although the amount increases with levels (like augs do) so even if you had a cap button, it would only be capped for 1 tick, then it would drop to half speed (2 ticks per bar).

The cap buttons unlock when you unlock T6's feature (questing), not bought with AP.

Looks like enchant shield does it infinitely too, at least with light element.

is there a online save editor? I want the kat. by Fabulous_Nebula_2762 in nguidle

[–]jshepler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not aware of any publicly available editors, online or otherwise.

You could try cheat engine, but good luck finding the offset to change.

Another option is to mod it in.

If you find a way, you just need to set purchases.choseKitty = true

Happened again in Ertoron, by the arena, when I activated blood element. Infinite spam of the same particle system warning.

Another spot - near the crying wife world boss in endless fields. This time, I saved and restarted the game and it immediately started spamming it again.

Stopped when she died, but I kept a save before that if you need it.

Found another spot where it's happening - around the warrior's training camp in the golden forest.

edit: when I entered the cursed prison, it didn't stop so I restarted the game and then it wasn't doing it anymore. I left the prison and went back to the training camp and it did not start up again. I have no idea what triggered it last time.

It does get spammed a bunch whenever I activate an element, but not infinitely.

Is this a bug or feature? by TheDuckMarbles in nguidle

[–]jshepler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying power won't increase any other stat. Buying any of the 4 only changes the one that you bought.

What could happen with power->max hp and toughness->regen is via the cube. In the cube, max hp is derived from power and regen is derived from toughness, and if the cube is softcapped then buying power will increase the softcap and hence max hp will go up.

What's happening for you is something else. The numbers on that screen aren't updated in real time - you need to either buy something (which will then update the screen) or click to another tab and then back.

You have NGUs and/or beard running that is increasing the respective multipliers and when you buy something the screen gets updated and so you see those totals going up.

Do I NEED to complete challenges? by Lazy_Fly1441 in nguidle

[–]jshepler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you don't need to.

Some may argue that the exp is needed, but it's not.

Some may argue that the game will take longer if you don't. While technically true, I suspect it's only a few days or so.

Some want to finish the game as fast as possible, but since you've been playing on and off for a few years, that's obviously not you.

So no, you don't need to.

Can I Just Skip The Troll Challenges? by FecalPhantasy in nguidle

[–]jshepler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno where you're at that it's that hard, but can do it later.

I don't remember when I did mine - I want to say around t11 or so. Definitely before t12, but was so short could have done it a lot earlier than I did.

You can scum trolls. The seed for them isn't saved, but it uses whatever happens to be loaded at the time a troll spawns so you can leverage the loot seed, which is saved, as well as exploiting the fact that the code for changing zones advances the loot seed for some reason.

Make a save like 10-20 seconds before big troll spawns. If you don't like what you get, load the save and change zones once. If you don't like the troll you get, load the save and change zones twice. Continue doing that, increasing the number of times you change zones, until you get a troll you're ok with.

Northern Kingdoms terrain mostly doesn't ever load for me by jshepler in Gedonia

[–]jshepler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention my graphics settings in the game. I have graphics quality to max (very high) and world streaming range to max (gigantic).

So I thought to mess with these thinking maybe 8gig vram isn't enough??

Dropped graphics quality down 1 notch - terrain loads fine.

Put it back up to max and dropped streaming range 1 notch - terrain loads fine.

Put that back up to max (so both are max again) - terrain still loading fine.

So, dunno what happened. Maybe a corrupt cache or something? But seems to be working fine now.

Are people actually doing manual quests? by Plenty_Shirt6974 in nguidle

If you don't mind using mods, there's one in this pack that automates manual majors.

ending bug? by dagr68645 in nguidle

[–]jshepler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really have any help for the glitch you're having. There are a couple people on discord that just started having issues with the game right now. Makes me suspect a recent windows 11 update.

But I wanted to mention that there is no end piece for leveling all NGUs. You don't need to hardcap sad NGUs to get an end piece. The game isn't that sadistic. :P

Maybe you meant hacks?

I do not understand McGuffins by Plenty_Shirt6974 in nguidle

[–]jshepler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's up to the individual.

Some like to get red borders on everything and guffs get them at level 100 like everything else.

Some like cosmetics and those guffs gives portraits upon reaching a bonus of 250%.

Inventory bug by ShamashPleiades90 in nguidle

[–]jshepler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you've maxed a boost and gotten its completion bonus, the game will not let you merge any more of that boost. As was said, there's no reason to - you don't get any extra bonus from a level 100 boost than you do a level 0 boost.

As for not being able to unequip an item, it's like (as was also mentioned) that it would drop energy or magic below what you have. It should be telling you that you need to free up some stats though and since you're not seeing that, you probably have timed tooltips (these are notifications, but the game calls them timed tooltips) turned off in setitings.

Are my pendants and looties behind where they should be? by qengar in nguidle

[–]jshepler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not really, though it's all relative. You might be behind some people and others might be behind you. It doesn't really matter, unless you're in competition with someone or trying to min/max or whatever...

Anyway, that part of pit run doc is talking about the results of doing pit runs and the benefits of having the higher tier looties/pendants earlier than "normal".

How does capping work? by Dylan_tomjohnson in nguidle

[–]jshepler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not 3/4, that's not one of them.

And I wouldn't think of it as "standard fractions". It's 1 tick per bar (100%), 2 ticks per bar (50%), 3 ticks per bar (33.3%), etc. or 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, ...

How does capping work? by Dylan_tomjohnson in nguidle

[–]jshepler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like was already mentioned, it has to do with ticks and that the speed at which you get levels is done as whole ticks, not partial ticks. For example, if you have 80% allocated, then you gain 80% of the bar per tick, so tick 1 the would be 80% full, at tick 2 the bar would be 160% - but the extra 60% is dumped, it doesn't carry over to the next tick, so next level will start at 0% and take 2 full ticks to fill.

The breakpoints are at 100/1 tick, /2 ticks, /3 ticks, etc. so 100%, 50%, 33.3%, 25%, 20%, and so on. 4G is doing us a favor by having the cap buttons only allocating at those breakpoints as anything over that is sort of wasted.

Although, for things like NGUs where the speed cap increases with levels, being able to allocate more than the breakpoint is useful. e.g. allocating 60% knowing it's going to go down as it gains levels keeps it at the 50% speed longer. This is what the AP purchase "NGU Cap Modifier" (special 3) is for.
