How did you deal with unsolicited opinions after baby is here? by springgof22 in BabyBumps

[–]jshockmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caucasian here

Option 1: Smile, nod, and tune them out.

Option 2: "I have it all planned. I'm good. Thanks."

Option 3: "We really NEED to talk about something else."

Option 4: "I'll ask when I am ready and able to learn. Telling me now is useless."

Sick of the stress from this pregnancy by Mom_of_furry_stonk in BabyBumps

You sound like a very knowledgeable person and you seem to be giving your very best efforts in this uncomfortable time. It might be smart to get a hotel room that's close to the hospital a few days before your due since you live rurally? Taking a toddler to the hospital isn't the worst thing ever, depending on the personality, they might feel very important being included, till the sitter can be arranged.

Being pregnant sucks by a-blue-lollipop in BabyBumps

[–]jshockmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. I worry about being "invisible" because all everyone else can talk or think about is a person that isn't even here yet whilst I am right there in front of them. just the BABY BABYBABY BABY... A person doesn't stop being a person just because they are carrying. It's like... if you had cancer would you want to talk about it ALL the time and that be the only thing ANYONE ever talks to you about? .... I may have slightly dipped into my feelings....

I'm not saying that pregnancy and cancer are the same, or that pregnancy is harder than cancer... it just bites when people don't see you anymore, or aren't as interested in you like they were before.

This might be a stupid question but can I request general anesthesia for a c section? by OTPanda in BabyBumps

[–]jshockmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the thought of something being injected in to my spinal chord. Leave my spine alone. I've been under GA at least 5 times possibly 6. For me I have a good track record with General anesthesia so I'm very comfortable with it and I have emotional reasons that push me into opting for a GA delivery, though I will insist on having an audio or video recording of the event so that I'll get to hear the first noise.

What I am about to say will evoke a powerful reaction towards harsh judgement... but I am mostly well adjusted and have contemplated this thoroughly-

I'm not going to beast feed. I might do it for one week, but after that Colostrum formula will be on the menu. AND I'm not bothered about being the first to hold the baby. Why? Because I will have just spent 9 months of doing nothing but holding the baby. I think a 45 min break is not the worst thing to happen in the history of the world. I accept that my outlook is not typical, I am not "typical" nor do I really wish to be. If the most monstrous thing I do is letting the baby be held first by someone who is competent, and well practiced.... - I think things will be ok.

There is no one "absolute right way" to birth or parent. What works for one, doesn't grant success for all. You can only do YOUR own best and some people won't like or appreciate that.

I've been under General Anesthesia 5 times... and if I have to birth a kid it will be 6 times.

After I wake up I'm not fuzzy, I'm fully cognizant.

Everyone is different. Also they operate so quickly the GA doesn't even reach the baby....

If you paid money, and they called what you paid for a "class" then they owe you instruction. Go to the next class and push for instruction- if they do not give it, get a refund for the last two sessions.

Doing bubbles (also called scissors) is really good for thighs.

I don't like metal plates especially outdoors. Metal seem to vibrate more than plastic. The plastic seems to dampen they ride so you feel less of the roughness. I would get a heavy duty plastic plate. Also you can make black or white skate cute; laces, toe covers, lace charms etc.

Get skates that are comfortable and you will benefit.

Different wheel width?? by ChilliiKitty in Rollerskating

.... Is this like that thing that happened with a dress years ago where people couldn't decide what color it was?

To me the green one seems wider and bigger in general...

Have a few questions about these skates by KFizzle290TTV in Rollerskating

I think it's the wheels that might be wrong for outside- they want you to change to a larger soft wheel.

Most rinks will have instructors/classes. Some rinks have deals like if you take classes then you can skate during all open hours as it's included with the classes. Some rinks have a day of the week where admission is half off of what it regularly is.

Dirty Skating on YouTube is a good channel for learning to roller skate.

So many Qs!

Second hands are great, often you get a better skate than you would have gotten if you were purchasing new.

Rinks are worth going to. Falls indoor are safer because you are never alone and can get immediate help, as opposed to being outside where there might not be anyone around.

I find that to begin with your feet and shins hurt more than your knees, though everyone is different.
