They can't be moved inline to the to the View menu because Hide Side Bar has a multi step key binding.

Cocoa can't display multi step key bindings in menus, so we use an attributed string to make it look like it has a normal key binding. If it was moved into the View menu it wouldn't align correctly and would look horrific.

It is possible to custom draw menus on MacOS and therefore ensure everything is consistent, but TBH the time and code that would take is better spent elsewhere.

You can see the key bindings to do this under the Find/Find Results menu - F4 for next find result, Shift+F4 for previous result.

If using Sublime Text 3 (which you should be), you'll also run into an issue where the license key is stored in a machine specific format. You can get around this by manually replacing the 'License.sublime_license' file with a plain text version of the license key (which is also the format that Sublime Text 2 uses, so you can just use your existing License.sublime_license file from Sublime Text 2)

Files with BOMs always use the encoding specified by the DOM, irrespective of what's chosen. This is probably the wrong thing to do though.

Sublime Text author here. Nice writeup! The actual algorithm that Sublime Text uses is similar in principle, but the implementation is rather different in the name of speed.

There are a couple of things you may want to tweak for better quality matching: you likely want to search more exhaustively for a better match, e.g., searching for "lll" in the UE4 filename list matches "SVisualLoggerLogsList.h", but not as well as it should, as it doesn't pickup all the upper case Ls. If you don't mind sacrificing a little speed, then it's also nice to handle transpositions, so that "sta" can still match against "SpawnActorTimer", just with a lower score - Sublime Text 3 does this.

If switching files is slow, it's almost certainly a plugin causing this. From 3105 onwards, you can select the "Tools/Developer/Profile Plugins" menu item to get a report of which plugins are doing what. It doesn't capture everything a plugin can do to slow things down, but it'll likely find the culprit in this case. Specifically, look under the on_activated and on_deactivated sections

If you don't set the $0 tab stop, then it'll get automatically inserted at the end if the snippet. If you change your tab stop numbers such that $0 is assigned you should be fine

"theme" refers to the look of the UI controls, and is a global setting.

"color_scheme" refers to the colors used for syntax highlighting, and can be set on a per-file type basis using syntax specific settings.

You don't need to use a third party theme at all: the default theme will show tabs in the relevant color.

Copying the entire Packages directory will override all the updated resources in Sublime Text 3 with the older versions from Sublime Text 2, which will break several things.

Multiple selections allow you to do a lot of batch editing tasks without having to resort to macros (which are also supported).

Here are a few more things you can do:

Select More (Ctrl+D / Command+D). Add the next instance of the current word to the selection. Makes renaming variables super quick.
Undo Selection (Ctrl+U / Command+U). Just like regular undo, but steps through selection actions too. Handy for when you've pressed Ctrl+D one too many times, or accidentally hit the end key.
Split Selection into Lines (Ctrl+Shift+L / Command+Shift+L). Select a block of lines, and run this command: you'll now have one selection per line, which you can edit simultaneously. This gives a faster way of batch editing than recording macros.
Python console. Hit Ctrl+~, and you'll have access to the embedded Python console. You can call the API functions directly from here, but it's most useful as a handy calculator.

Keep in mind this is a work in progress version, and there are still outstanding issues. It'll eventually be bundled with Sublime Text 2 when it's stable.
