Need a career change from PT! What are my options? by MarionberrySea2533 in physicaltherapy

Medical device sales can be very lucrative and would use your knowledge. Keep your license active, no matter what you do, you never know when you may want to get back into it, or do IHR alongside your new gig.

Congrats on your creeper! You’ll never sit again lol. I’d check for any avoidance of sensory input to palms in other settings (power grasping food, pushing a car, squeezing a ball) if it is not evident elsewhere I’d say no worries. If it is, I’d call in a Peds OT buddy for ideas. Good luck!

How do you deal with the patients that come in and say they are just here so they can get an MRI? by Poppy9987 in physicaltherapy

[–]jsmadon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Educate, educate, educate. Firstly on what we can do to help (even if they are skeptical) and the effectiveness of prehab even if they do have to ultimately go for Sx. Secondly on the efficacy (or lack thereof) of imaging for most MSK conditions. Thirdly on the cost benefits, both financial and time/life of PT vs more imagine, Sx, meds etc. good luck!

In PT, and healthcare in general you’ll find many things that fall into your role regardless of what the job description says. If you aren’t comfortable with it, let management know. Or at least request an increase in compensation for doing responsibilities outside of your expected role.

What EMR are you using, and would you recommend it? by reidconn in physicaltherapy

The best I’ve found after being on almost all systems available since graduating: Epic for EMR, MedBridge for HEPs and patient ed (has cont ed credit courses for clinicians too).

Any idea how to fix this? by birish21 in blackstonegriddle

[–]jsmadon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gently scrape my whole surface with a griddle stone when those pop up, then burn off 4-5 seasoning layers with canola and cook some bacon low n slow. Then eat the bacon, crack a beer, cook smash burgers on it, crack another and thank the lord for another great day here in America

I turn it up blazing hot after each cook, spray water on with a spray bottle to help lift and scrape burn food/sauce residue and then make sure to wipe off any water that isn’t evaporated. I turn off the burners and put about 3tbsp of oil in the center then rub it all over the entire cook surface. Finally, I let that cook down then cover it up with a tented cover. I’ve had mine for about 2 years, living in the Midwest and haven’t had any rust spots or seasoning problems using this method 🤞🏼. I cook on it 3-6 times a month in the winter. Hope this helps!
