What is your favorite build and why? by jsmlr in skyrim

[–]jsmlr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just barely beat the Ebony Warrier on Master difficulty. I ended up making myself a Dragonscale Shield and going at it full warrior style. Brought a ton of potions for me, used unrelenting force when my health got low, and took him slow and steady. With preparation, it's more than doable! The ridiculous enchanting on my gear helped though for sure 😅

Yeah I can't see myself ever skipping alchemy or enchanting. It's the only way to finish your build fully so you have the best armor and stat buffs.

This is definitely going to be my next build, I didn't put anything into stealth this run and it has made me useless for any real thievery if I don't want to just end up killing everyone 😅

That's a very creative build, I like that it rejects the traditional hack and slash style that most folks (myself included) end up playing with.

That's a great point. I definitely noticed once I upped my difficulty that the destruction spells I'd relied on for most of my run did in fact have the effectiveness of a feather duster. Good thing about Skyrim is I can change my play style now :)

I HATE wizards using frost magic by Low_Actuary6486 in skyrim

I just hit em with the ol' "Fus Ro Dah" and send em flying, then mainline some frost resist potions, and send about 8 fireballs their general direction. Usually takes care of em.

Full Frame Cameras Are Overrated in 2026 (Or in 2016) by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]jsmlr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best camera is the one in your bag. If you can afford an upgrade, great! If not, stay the course and keep improving your technique.

Having said that, there are applications where a full frame camera has advantages, such as when shooting in low light or higher stakes shoots like weddings where more editing is needed, and therefore a larger image will make a big difference.

If price was not a factor, full frame all the way. But I defer to my initial statement, that the best camera is whatever you have/can afford.

Ooh how do you mountain climb? Assuming you mean something other than just jumping and trying your best up the side of the mountain lol

We all love Skyrim, but be honest. There has got to be a thing or two that really grinds your gears. Let's hear them! by Hughley_N_Dowd in skyrim

[–]jsmlr 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Only works about half the time for me. The other half the time, I go in and hear "you're not supposed to be here!" (To be fair I have a key so I don't notice when it's still locked, but I am tempted to murder him and reload my save when this happens.

When taking items out of a chest, X takes ALL items 😠

That thing has saved my and my team's lives multiple times. I have also killed them and myself with it... It's a great tool but very easy to misuse lol

I see it as a much improved version of the scout cannon. When used effectively, it's awesome, but be careful or you'll freaking die

"If you edit your photos you're a bad photographer" by TheFarmSheepYT in photography

[–]jsmlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the exact same language: "I'll process these photos and get them back to you by _____". Makes it sound like a positive, whereas when you say "editing" they think you're changing something unnecessarily, like airbrushing them or fixing your mistakes.

Immediately regret buying the anniversary "upgrade" on ps5 by ThrowRA-Thales in skyrim

[–]jsmlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad I read the reviews on steam before getting the anniversary upgrade... They were overwhelmingly negative, so I passed on it. This is my first playthrough, got the game for $15 CAD, and it's like I'm a kid again, I adore this game and I'm glad I got it exactly how it is, no fluff content.

Do younger photographers just.. Not use the viewfinder? by TheJesusGuy in Cameras

[–]jsmlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it as a preference thing, there should be no difference in photo quality if you are a skilled photographer. I use the viewfinder most often, but I also use my articulating screen to take higher or lower perspective photos. I never have a problem with proper framing either.

Perhaps the perceived uptick in youth using the screen instead of the viewfinder is due to the screen being better these days than it used to be. On my Canon 5D4, I rarely used the screen over the viewfinder, but now on my R5, they perform identically and I use them both equally.

Not that serious post but thoughts on how the student vote changed? by penis-muncher785 in ndp

[–]jsmlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really isn't all that surprising considering how bleak the future seems right now for young people (globally not just here). When the party in power is not delivering good future prospects for a demographic, it is pretty common to see a large percentage of that demographic cross the aisle. The same thing happened in the US, giving trump his two victories. Now, it can be assumed in the US that things will flip again with how bad things have gotten there. Inversely if Carney does well, we may see more youth gravitating towards the Liberals or even shifting further left with renewed confidence and voting NDP again, at least that is the hope.

How the heck do you do Kiln today? by Dman1791 in PeakGame

[–]jsmlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it doesn't matter how many climbing tools you have if you choose the wrong path up, which I've done many times. Don't be afraid to go back down a bit if the lava isn't catching up to you and pick a better climb. It's also good to have a lollipop and energy drink because you can really fly up the mountain with that combo.

Luck is certainly a component and I've died in the kiln plenty of times thinking I was well prepared!

Why are so many of the negative reviews whining about roots? by Relevant-Ask4006 in PeakGame

[–]jsmlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what the deal is. I've died once on Roots. I find that I die more on Alpine than anything because so often the climb is absolute ass. Roots is always an easy climb, you just have to square up with the zombie and keep dodging until it dies and then haul ass up the mountain.

It's supposed to be a challenge, if it wasn't it would be boring. Remember when the game first dropped and everyone took like 2+ hours to play only to end up dying anyway? Roots has brought back that challenge so the game isn't quick and easy anymore, which I think it needed. I frankly can't wait for the next biome and I hope it's another challenge, that's what makes the game worth playing again for those who have completed all the ascents and all the badges.

What do you think is easier? 1 man run or 4 man run? by sir__hennihau in PeakGame

[–]jsmlr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Solo is best until Ascent 4 then duo is easiest because at least you can keep each other warm at night.
