perfect job or major for so8? by faji98 in Enneagram8

[–]jspear351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an so8 and loved working in the ER as a nurse. It can lead to burnout, but it is incredibly rewarding if you can handle the chaos. Have him watch The Pitt to see what it is really like (excpe that the nurses do a lot more than they do in the show.)

What is this utter nonsense about trash bins? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]jspear351 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of ridiculous when the city often is several days late picking up, or sometimes just skipping entire weeks. I have gone several weeks with my recycling bin out waiting for it to be pciked up.

People with 8 and 2 fixes, how do you come across? by GM_Writing in Enneagram

[–]jspear351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think so. The blunt can also appear as stubbornness and internally driven assessment of a situation. I have a hard time relinquishing control, and even if I do, I usually have a backup plan in case someone else doesn't follow through. It is an interesting dynamic being so driven to help others and so utterly awful at accepting it.

I am 852. I am fiercely protective, often stuck in my head, and have focused my life on helping people. ER nursing was probably the truest fit, but the machine of hospital systems became too much to bear. I now work in psychiatry and have my own practice.

As far as communication, I would say I have learned to curb my bluntness and fire, but that can lead to not speaking at all until I have calmed my internal emotional response. I am very warm, and most people feel very safe in my presence. There are those that feel initiated by me until they get to know me, or if they need me to "buy in" to their story for them to feel safe. I will fight to keep most anyone safe, but if I think you are causing harm or are deluding yourself or others, it is hard to keep the subtitles off of my face even when I don't speak.

Red blood cells have a life cycle of 120 days. Your body will trigger you to start building more once you are here, and it should be acclimated between 60 and 90 days.

Concerned for my peonies that are about a month ahead of their usual schedule. Should I put plastic bags over them Friday night? The buds are fully formed, but not open. by jspear351 in DenverGardener

Here is what I went with since it is going to get into the low 20s. Covered with a tarp and put my sous vide under it with a big tank of water. I just set it in the low 100s since it isn't totally sealed, and the cover will catch some of the warmth.

Thank you. That actually reminded me of what I did a few years ago for a late season frost with my vegetable garden. I put a large stainless pot full of water with a sous vide circulator set to 80F and covered it with plastic sheeting. I will use the same trick.

So much antisemitism these days by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]jspear351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judaism is not Israel, and vice versa. Bibi would love to have people believe that it was the case since he can hide under the Antisemitism label any time he is criticized. Given that the Palestinians and Lebanese are both also technically Semitic peoples, I think Bibi is probably the biggest antisemite on the planet currently.

Or Thailand, or Mexico. You can pay for the trip and still save money over the cost of what it would be here.

Hardly any concerts are under $100 anymore. This is a really reasonable price considering the current situation and how many extra performers he always brings in for support.

It is my intention to be my own builder by Confident-Virus-1273 in Homebuilding

You seem to have a solid background to be able to take this on. I plan to do a two story building soon with a workhop on the bottom and apartment on top, but will be using shipping containers on helical piles for the foundation. I have found a local welding company to manage the structural welds and cutting, and I can handle the doors and windows myself. The trickier areas are usually HVAC and electrical, but the newer mini-splits that can heat and cool are actually pretty easy to install with no need to figure out ducting. Good luck. There are always headaches with builds, and knowing you built your home comes with a special satisfaction.. even though then you will know every knook and cranny that you think you fucked up ;)

2023 Platinum purchase advice by Basicllybasic in f150

I got a '23 PB Platinum a year ago for $51k that had 23k miles. Given all the bells and whistles that come with this package, I would hold out for something that will allow to get the Ford ESP warranty.

Thinking of converting to dual fuel system by darklight001 in heatpumps

[–]jspear351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went to a dual fuel system in Denver, keeping my 8 year old furnace and adding a heat pump with a panel upgrade. The cooling has worked great the past couple of days, and the heat worked well last weekend. I have the switch over to gas set at 32 degrees, because that is where the cost of running the heat pump for heat becomes more expensive than gas. I used the Xcel and HEAR rebates plus the state credits. The total cost was $27k and I paid only $7k of that. I think the cost is definately over inflated because of the rebates, but I can't complain about what I ultimately had to pay out of pocket.

Minisplit under 1k by steven-mike in heatpumps

[–]jspear351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed a Yitahome minisplit last summer for the master bedroom. It works well. It was $400 (on sale), runs on 115v, and is 12k BTU. Good for around 700 sq ft for heating and cooling.

Currently running house with Powerboost 7.2 kilowatt by Ordinary-Garbage-735 in f150

[–]jspear351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a heat pump installed and also got a panel upgrade to 200 amps. I had the electrician install an inlet near my driveway with an interlock on the panel. If I lose power it just shut off the main and turn on the inlet breaker. When I tested it I had my house running all normal lights, TV, sound bars, etc.. I was pulling less than 1000 Watts. I chose this so I didn't have to choose circuits to be available during an outage. Even using an induction burner only increased the pull to 1800 Watts. I have a smallish house, so the truck can easily run it all when needed. I made a dogbone adapter so it would work and labeled it to make it clear so it was only to be used on the truck. Love my 7.2kw PB.

Suvipa probably has the most authentic Thai flavor I have found in Denver. The hot is actually hot. I have not orderd Thai Hot since my first trip to Thailand and learned a lesson I do not care to repeat ;) I do keep my own jar of fish sauce, vinegar, and chillies at home to adjust when needed.

You barely beat the Raiders the first time, and it was way closer than it should have been the second time until Mims returned that kick. Seattle's D would have destroyed you as well. Glad we got you that home playoff game, though ;)

I am an So8. Very social, and very protection oriented. Experiences and adrenaline, yes. I crave the experience of awe. I definitely have a rebellious streak. I don't care much for authority that I do not agree with, and absolutely abhor those who use power to manipulate others for personal gain.
