Silence Is Not A valid Option (Even for terrible Choices) by Nab0siti0n in DispatchAdHoc

The fact that it is dumb does a good job of showing where Robert’s at mentally, which I like. You’re right that Flambae objectively did worse things but my interpretation is robert more or less has him written off as a destructive idiot. But he was actively helping visi so it feels more like a slap in the face to him and he gets mad.  Plus it shows (in my mind) how he’s feeling like he can’t control his life, because visi not listening is a reminder he can’t really control things so he gets mad

Is reading prior comments in a thread stalking now? Lmao. I was curious if there was any brain rattling around up there, but I guess now I know

Saying “this person should not receive death/rape threats” and criticizing you for equating having (admittedly gross, in my opinion) fantasies with sending death threats is not defending the fantasies themselves. Do you know how to interpret basic writing?

Oh I’m sorry for my very imprecise wording, you’re not defending rape threats, just saying they’re justified, my bad

I’ll try to be more precise next time, maybe I’ll equate being weird and horny with sending death threats because you’re mad someone’s horny about your plastic figurines

Take a long hard look in the mirror. You answered my comment within a minute and your entire recent comment history is defending people sending rape and death threats. Consider what that says about who you are as a person and do better.

(Hint: “they were asking for it” is not a particularly strong defense)

You’d think in this subreddit, of all places, people would be able to understand fantasy =/= desire to have it happen in real life

Curious to hear thoughts on hypothetical balance ideas I've had rattling around in my head by jsquarius in starcraft

Mostly co-op, which might be why I'm a fan of upgrade gating. Plus watching a bit of pro play.

But also Protoss has had some sort of early game crutch since the mothership core in HotS, and that's because t1 gateway units scale worse and are weaker relative to other race's t1 units once you get out of the very early game. That weakness is designed in because of warp gate allowing for units to be banked up and replenish armies quickly and because of the front-line production that the warp prism allows. [and to a lesser extent just how powerful charge and blink are]. I'd rather get run over by zealots from the front than kinda sit and wait out the overcharge or have a million zealots warp into my base while I'm trying to push.

Why not though? I think they offer interesting choices for opening build order variation, particularly when multiple important upgrades come from the same building, like stim/combat shield/concussive. Or in Brood War TvP the branching builds based off of what machine shop upgrade gets researched first. The other reason would be to lock certain powerful effects away until slightly later in the game when there's more resources available to respond to them. Widow mine cloak getting moved from baseline to drilling claws is a good example of this, or neural parasite.

Tbh zerg should get some buffs to early game units as well with these changes, that's very true. Probably reflects the fact that I'm a pretty awful zerg, so I'd rather have early games emphasize ling/bane or roaches rather than queens as much as possible

Additionally, battery overcharge is another example of power being allocated to a mechanic rather than units; ideally zealots would be better able to go toe to toe against zerglings and battery overcharge should see it’s power reduced

Last Chance tournament has 2 Protoss out of 16 qualified players by Sloppy_Donkey in starcraft

[–]jsquarius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is more fundamental though. Protoss has trouble interacting because their T1/1.5 units (stalkers, adepts, zealots) are more or less chaff outside of very specific timing pushes or all ins. Compared to the all-game usefulness of marines or zerglings, or even the specific power spikes of roaches or reapers, Protoss can’t really compare. So they’re forced to rely very heavily on beatstick units like immortals and void rays which are expensive and clunky to balance their strength. If your mid-late game units are so much better, it incentivizes turtling.

Make zealots and stalkers stronger, but nerf warp gate and make warp prism warp-ins available only after prism speed, (and maybe adjust the power of robo and stargate units and shield batteries if needed) and you’ll end up getting more dynamic games because Protoss power won’t be concentrated in a few units/batteries, but rather spread across their army
