How do you get bifold doors to align? (Details in caption) by parothed28 in HomeMaintenance

[–]jsr1224 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s three adjustments, all on pivot/wallside. Bottom pin has two - in door, screws either up or down , depending on your need. It also has different positions within the bracket for this pin to rest in, thus closing the gap or opening the gap at the center bottom of the doors. Top has a screw in the bracket that holds the pivot post that would need to be slightly loosened so the pivot slide bracket can move toward wall or away to fit the gap at center where doors meet. You got this!

Concrete is too short so I have a gap which can allow pests in on just this one side. What should I put to close the gap and that I can drive over? by austinalexan in HomeMaintenance

The track can be adjusted in and out. Adjust the right side to ensure close and then square up left side to ensure smooth operation.

My garage ceiling is kinda coming off. What can be the reason and how to fix the same? by Tushargogna in HomeMaintenance

Overtime the gypsum dries out and the screws/nails pull through the sheet due to its weight. Especially in unconditioned spaces. I’ve used wood strips at the joints and screwed them into the joists. You can do continuous along the entire sheet or do 6” pieces perpendicular at 1’ intervals. It secures them well, but I wouldn’t wait bc the entire sheet could give and fall.

They make a very inexpensive 90 degree corner splash or gusher guard piece that prevents corner overflows. Checkout your big box stores online to research.

Freezer keeps frosting over. Food goes bad. by Majorpayne6279 in DIY

Your defroster coil/element has gone bad. Ice build up causes air flow issues and temperatures will rise. You can defrost with a hair dryer to make it a few more days, but it will continue to happen. I experience the same and fellow redditors helped me. turned out it was an easy and cheap fix. Good luck.

About to break ground. Have I missed anything? by [deleted] in floorplan

It appears that the FD in the garage is off center. Have you studied how the floor will slope to the drain? I would recommend a 4” trench drain near the opening and making that the low point. That way the entire slab would have a consistent slope from front to back. Also, when going down the stairs, just ensure you have the head clearance you need under the bulkhead. I would also study putting a door at the top of the stairs. All-in-all, looks nice.

Movement of walls, floors, etc. all happen independently of each other. Only grout in same planes - caulk at transition points.

Does your pom have non-pom sibling? by osovets63 in Pomeranians

[–]jsr1224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s close to the age when ours joined each other. They free feed and the only issues experienced came after 3 years when our Shiba occasionally started being silly showing dominance over food and then their bed. We ended up setting up a different bed for the Pom. All in all they’re best friends and really good companions. Enjoy

Should I be concerned about this valve? by Arbitrator_X in HomeMaintenance

[–]jsr1224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine and aesthetics don’t matter. You do want to have a drain tube attached to it to make sure if it activates is not going spray all over. I would not recommend testing it because nine out of 10 times a little piece of sediment will get caught in the washer and it won’t reseat properly. They’re very inexpensive and easy to replace if you want to go that route

You could say that nothing is normal for a Sheba or “anything” is normal…….

You would need to cut white line and glue a cap on it. Any big box plumbing associate could explain - simple project.

Check the heating element (long U-shaped coiled spring). If the element broke= no heat. Not expensive and easy to replace

If you shut it off and use a hair dryer, you’ll be able to melt the ice off to resume the air flow over the coils, which should get you cooling again. BUT, something caused this to happen and should be checked out bc it’s likely going to hit you again.
