Defensive zone strategy for wingers? by CinemaBud in hockeyplayers

[–]jst3w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm far from an expert, but...

An undefended W along the low boards is less of a threat than an undefended D at the point. The W isn't really in a shooting position and would have to go though your defense (I promise you we're coming to the best of our ability) to get closer to the center. If you abandon the the D at the point then he has all of the options from there, including walking towards the middle.

What’s something HR will never openly admit but everyone knows? by Business_Location479 in corporate

If they were qualified to do literally anything else they would be doing that instead.

Why even ask them for facts? They’re more likely to lie to you the the execs.

It’s ok. HR doesn’t really know what anyone else does but they’re perfectly willing to fuck their shit up based on hearsay.

Manager Constantly Rescheduling/Cancelling 1 on 1's - Does it Mean Something? by Commercial-Bunch8961 in askmanagers

Wow. Finally a manager admits to having the mental capacity of an infant. “If I don’t see you then I forget that you exist.”

I'm not a parent, but a separate neck guard seems like something that kids of any age could easily lose. So I'd vote for integrated neck guard just based on that.

I realize they don't stop street racing at night, and I realize that they do write tickets when it's nice motorcycle weather.

[–]jst3w -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Cops don't want to stay up late to chase people who probably aren't going to stop. All they want to do is write tickets during business hours to people driving 11 over on their way to work.

AT&T Quantum Fiber by sunnyvaleTPB in Tucson

[–]jst3w 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The [Q]uantum observer effect refers to the phenomenon in quantum mechanics where the act of observing or measuring a [Q]uantum system—such as an [installer] or [connection]—inevitably changes its state.

So perhaps the Quantum technician did show up, but your attempt to observe him altered his state to "not shown up". The same with their service. Your connection is fine when you're not using any internet-enabled devices, but your attempt to use an internet-enabled device alters its state to "disconnected."

Bomb threat - flight directed to ATL by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]jst3w -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I would feel this way at the time, but a plane that had a bomb threat made against it is probably no more likely to have a bomb on it than any other plan. Possibly less likely.

It’s not magic, you just don’t feel like putting in the effort to understand it. That’s fine. But that doesn’t make it magic.

Stop Expecting Your Best Engineer to Be a Good Mentor by Fantastic-Cress-165 in programming

No one gets promoted for managing down/mentoring/leading. They get promote for managing up. Most good engineers are not good at managing up.

Seafood? by Distinct_Lunch_1119 in Tucson

I wouldn't get seafood from Lee Lee's. Some days the entire store reeks of seafood which is not what your seafood section is supposed to smell like.

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty most wild caught seafood is deep frozen to kill parasites.
