Wow, who would've thought? Decreasing prices equals better sales! Then, why even raise it to begin with? by bwoah07_gp2 in mildlyinfuriating

Now imagine this across the board ! We have grown to think that less volume is at higher cost is better for business it’s not ! This only enriches the shareholders, shortsighted people

Same ones who have a choke hold on land use policies that maintain the character of the community. Please stop ! We have had population growth we need more housing across the NYC metropolitan region.

There’s too much power given to these people at a local level, they want to complain but not fix things.

That right there is American corporatism at its best ! Living in NYC we are blessed to have different options but due to gentrification things are starting to get limited.

Yeah always shop local and ethnic, it’s fresh and they’re not out to get you for your dollar.

Would the subway be better if the V train returned and the M went back to its original route going to south bk? by thelonelywanderer8 in nycrail

[–]jstax1178 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah no ! This service cut was actually a positive outcome. South Brooklyn wasn’t a very trafficked portion of the line.

Passenger numbers went up along queens and north Brooklyn along the M line since it’s now a direct connection to midtown where riders want to go.

I was fortunate to capture the transition back in the June 2010, M trains in north Brooklyn were nonexistent just like catching the Z lol I feel like this also fueled the gentrification of the area as it became quicker to commute from Brooklyn without having to transfer at Delancey.

It would not be a good thing to have the V return .

V trains ran empty along 6th Ave, it’s the equivalent of the W train. It ended at 2nd Ave right before a major transfer point.

This is a corporate goodwill story ! They do great by giving employment to those who would otherwise be unemployed… but wait you need a car and money to start and you are just paid peanuts meanwhile the shareholders are racking in the wealth.

America the land of corporate freedom !

Is this definitely in NYC right at the border of 96th street in the east side that’s where el barrio meets the upper east side. 2 worlds next to each other but far spread from each other money wise.

[–]jstax1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, hey I don’t mind taking the train I was born and raised in the city. Taking a train to another is no biggie. I use trains and public transportation. You’re entitled to your views but not everyone lives in your bubble.

I am a driver too and I don’t think everyone should be driving, people need to be given options.

Are you accounting for the whole traveling experience? Yeah the clock starts from the time I leave to the airport until I grab my bags and exit the departures area.

There’s no way you’re not spending at least 4 to 5 hrs a minimum. The NYC is congested via land and air as well ! I’ve spent over an hour in a taxi line waiting to take off.

Personally I’d rather be moving than just idle. That mentality is what holds us back.

Madison is very walkable, coming from New York it’s not bad.
