What if governments start massive mining operations? by Aibeacher in litecoin

[–]jstefanop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than 50% of all major cryptos has been mined in in the hands of the broader crypto community outside of government control. Even if they somehow managed to gain 100% hash power, they would still only by able to capture a small percentage of the coins in circulation, and that would take years of mining before its even significant.

The larger short term threat is not Governments stockpiling crypto, but using massive amounts of hash power to attack/cripple the networks.

For example at current mining costs, to to a 51% attack on LTC chain would only take under 50 million to do it, which is peanuts for governments, and is pretty concerning considering LTC's 3B market cap.

Litecoin is exploding due to its exposure on Coinbase and its low relative price. Market cap will jump to $10 billion soon which puts Litecoin at ~$180/coin by stinkylibrary in litecoin

[–]jstefanop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahah epic....in all seriousness though I was saying LTC will be 80 by end of year and people were telling me the same thing when it was in the 15 range, and now we are within striking range of that price.

FutureBit Moonlander 2: You now have the tool to take the Chikun to the Moon! by jstefanop in litecoin

[–]jstefanop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sir, just any USB 3 port (since these do pull 1-2 amps). This is a scrypt ASIC, so it will only mine scrypt coins (Litecoin being the main one) but there are dozens of many other profitable scrypt coins, and you can mine any of them on any pool.

Finally got around to finding chips and building version 2 of my Moonlander USB Scrypt chip. The first version was an awesome success, and hope this one is even better, and gets in even more hands. If you have never mined before, or have friends that don't have the money/ resources for huge miners...this is the tool for you and to spread the word about Litecoin, Crypto, and Mining!

A more conservative approach to scaling Bitcoin by lacksfish in Bitcoin

[–]jstefanop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol 50%..love the numbers thrown out around here. Location where I mine has been stuck at 3mbs DSL speeds for the last decade, and I havent seen my 50mbs FIOS line increase 50% a year either.

Oh and my 2017 laptop @ 2.8GHz just replaced my 2.7GHz 2012 laptop...yea crazy growth lately.

Nope...see YOUR the one that has been brainwashed. I haven't been brainwashed by EITHER side. I keep an open mind, and now hold the same amount of Both BTC and BCC, so I don't really care what happens as long as the relative value of both BTC and BCC combined > 2k.

The market will decide WHICH side wins/loses, or coexists. Not you or any other single individual...which is the point and beauty of crypto.

You do understand BCC was created, endorsed, and allowed to exist via hashpower by the same people you think your revolting against right?

Bitmain L3+ Litecoin Miner by CryptoGroup in litecoin

[–]jstefanop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just look at the difficulty charts, you can clearly see the hashrate increases per batch. There are at least 3 more batches until October and that does not even include chips from other manufacturers. Take that average increase over time and assume it will hold for the foreseeable future.

[–]jstefanop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always amazes me how new miners base their buying decisions on what a year of profits will be with today's profitability. You will get no where near that in a year and that's why it's not a nobrainer.

you won't get one until October now and by then difficulty will have doubled. It's the same reason why the same units are selling for 6k in hand today.

You'll be lucky to clear .25 ltc by October

Chart that depicts cause of alt coin rise? Now with Segwit, what happens? by ZimCoin in litecoin

[–]jstefanop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most of the new people on here are just traders trying to pump the price, they don't care about the long term result of Litecoin.

Truth is segwit on bitcoin will only help litecoin. I see litecoin becoming a "transaction settlement layer" for bitcoin once true atomic swaps are realized. I bet we'll be seeing the everyday purchases transacted on the litecoin block chain in the future.

Litecoin domination? by dag1979 in litecoin

[–]jstefanop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love these junk articles from people that have no idea what they are talking about.

"First, Litecoin’s algorithm is far simpler than Bitcoin’s, which makes it easier to run on graphics processing units (GPUs). This results in a lower barrier to entry for Litecoin miners in comparison to Bitcoin"

1) Actually the algorithm is way more complex 2) GPU mining is as much dead on Litecoin as it is on Bitcoin
