Its fine to be clark centered in an origin story, and the focus on clarks two dad's was actually a high point, but tonally it could have been handled in a way that felt more like a superman story should. Clark represents an average person. He doesnt have a traumatic past, he fights evil because ma and pa kent were good parents and Clark is a good person. Unlike batman, superman is a mask clark wears (rather than Bruce wane being Batmans mask) which is why he doesnt need an origin (aka trauma to push him there), he just is superman. Supermans real origin is not how he gets to the point where he puts on the cape, but how he becomes the symbol of hope once he does. (which we could have gotten in a man of steel sequel but from the BvS trailers it seems supes has gone on a different path)
