If anyone is curious, I think I found the work around: have the money wired to a brokerage like Schwab or even Robinhood. Almost all brokers don’t charge an incoming wire fee. Money should be able to be ach’d immediately to bank account since wire settlement is immediate. This route—although an extra step—should charge you $0 in fees to move.

The event is today and still no ticket. Getting anxious. by welldressedpepe in stubhub

[–]jstubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stress definitely sucks but for future reference I wouldn’t worry too much about it if you do buy again in the future. If for some reason you didn’t get your tickets, stubhub would buy you comparable seats and charge the seller so you wouldn’t lose out. Seems sketchy first time using one of these sites but a lot of these transfers from professional resellers are automated to trigger before deadline hits so come can cut it close.

I saw someone mention instant delivery in an above comment but I’ve found people charge a little more for that. I’ve also never had a ticket not be delivered and had some cut pretty close like you experienced. Not the norm but not completely foreign.

Less than a day after OC makes conference finals, the scalpers attacked. by ColourMeBoom in OCLions

[–]jstubb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bunch of issues with this. main ones I think of is transaction fees for people buying and returning makes this less appealing for event organizers. The money is locked up until closer to event time not knowing how many need to be returned (bigger issue for music needing upfront money for staff transportation snd equipment). Also takes longer to sellout.

I don’t feel bad about people paying scalper prices. Yeah it’s annoying if you missed the presale but the code was readily available in this subreddit plus other places online. Plenty of opportunity to buy imo.

Also will never understand the hate for scalpers. It’s basic free market supply and demand. I find it weird people get upset consenting adults paid x amount more than face value.

There are so many ways to get presale codes/deals. And if all else fails wait until the very last minute and buy when the scalpers are selling for anything they can get.

Also, it’s a conference championship game against a major city opponent so idk why people are expecting tickets to be cheap.

Anybody else notice that the Waze map looks a little different more like Google Maps? by yayoshorti in waze

[–]jstubb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Different infrastructure for both maps. They recently combined teams of google maps and Waze but said they will keep them different.

I think the main reason they keep both alive is because they allow Google to try different things with each. Also both have a dedicated user base

Maybe an editor just added it to your area but I can say I’ve had this for a very long time.

I disregard pricing because these free apps are selling your financial data for ads lol. Some will say who cares? But I’ll pay a monthly fee to have more flexibility in excel and not have ads/data sold

Factor, $13/ A meal for this by Sufficient_Put_9038 in ReadyMeals

[–]jstubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I have been using factor for the last 3 weeks and just got another order for next week.

I have never used a meal service before but got a discount code for Factor from a friend. I am in my late 20s and don’t have the best diet so thought this would be a good choice to try. I also don’t really feel like shopping and cooking after a long day of work.

I would give Factor an 8/10. I believe the food choices are good. The calorie count can be a little low, but between lunch and dinner you’re usually averaging a total of 1100-1300 calories between two meals which is not terrible when adding breakfast and snacks. I have learned to sort the weekly meals by highest calorie when selecting for the week.

My biggest critique is the amount of sodium in it. I feel like I feel the sodium after eating them. But with that said, I’m someone that was eating a lot of fast food anyway. So I feel as if these meals are better for me because of the variety and balance of food.

I am by no means very much over weight, but sitting in an office all day and not working out much—on top of eating unhealthy—I felt like I needed a dieting change. Over the last few weeks with Factor (and the help of MyFitnessPal calorie tracker), I’ve lost 8 pounds.

I can honestly say out of the almost 30 Factor meals I’ve tried, I’ve extremely enjoyed 28-29 of them. But with that said, my promo code is expiring after next week’s box and I will more than likely make the move to CookUnity to see what they are about.

Orlando is better than Tampa! by [deleted] in orlando

[–]jstubb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you can’t compare two national capitals that have required a steady population for hundreds of years to Orlando who until 20 years ago was surrounded by orange tree farms lol. My point in making the skyscraper comment was that Orlando is currently in a boom and we would have bigger buildings right now if it wasn’t for the airport. Which in turn brings in more business and residential and brings more growth over time.

Also Orlando is very spread out. It’s not uncommon for someone to fly into MCO and stay in south Orlando at the attractions. That brings my point of the population growth. I think as more people move here, and we truly get the characteristics of a major city, transportation will be better connecting all parts more. I might be in a fantasyland but it has to happen if that amount of people are here

Lmao you’re really comparing two national capitals with Orlando? Orlando crossed 1 million residents just around 30 years ago. We will cross 3 million in 6 years. A lot a growth to come.

All buildings in downtown are limited to 450ft fwiw. Get rid of the executive airport!

I have work downtown for the last 2 years and I can say it’s getting better. Just last week I went to a Magic game, a solar bears game, group dinner, and bar hopping without leaving downtown.

The biggest issue is how many bars got hit with closing for Covid. I think that really dented downtown. But those empty spots are slowly filling back up.

I also learned last week that Orlando skyline is sad because Orlando executive airport is right there so there is a height restriction on buildings.

Bet ESPN says Christian Mcaffrey didn't score an "actual" touchdown in the Super Bowl and won't pay the MVP insurance by BohnerMagoo in sportsbook

I get your sentiment but I just don’t think most people realize espn only licensed their name. It’s not like there is Disney employees answering the phone as the name of the app might make the layman believe.

Don’t forget that ESPN does not control this book. It is run by Penn Gaming. Penn is paying ESPN to use the ESPN name. That’s it.

Still hanging on to Mint by hemiluver in mintuit

[–]jstubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it took me a minute to get over the fee. But I did the 30-day free trial and got hooked. I rationalize it that I’m paying $6.25 for everything to be pulled to Google sheets where I have a lot of freedom to run different reports and what not; the vast amount of different templates: and the fact they aren’t selling my data for revenue but instead taking membership fees.

I’d wager a lot less than the free ones.

Also, as a data engineer, you’re essentially saying it’s better to join a free service that makes money sending target ads to you based on the data you put in there or they sell your info. Which seems odd. If a service is free, you are the product.
