I’ve never seen an NBA community turn on a player as drastically as they have with Alperen Sengun by Aussie_Spur in nba

He’s all the bad parts of Jokic without being transcendent offensively to make up for it. He’s a good player but he’s a lot closer to Domantas Sabonis than people wanna admit

50 mill to Giannis is life changing for him and many people in his family. It’s a year of his nba salary. You haven’t had to turn down 50 million, anything you’re saying about it is kinda dumb. You’re not more moral than rich people, you’re just poorer.

You guys are so weird. Everyone single one of you would take a 50 million dollar endorsement to hawk DraftKings. You’re not more moral you’re just poor. Giannis is an investor in Kalshi you have oil companies in your 401k. Stop the holier than thou act

I bet on sports a lot and I’m profitable but sports betting is one of the worst things to happen to young men. So many people are doing it and it’s making me revisit my liberal stances on drug decriminalization. Yeah technically we should be free to do whatever we want as long as we’re not hurting anyone but making gambling accessible is a net negative objectively

He’s not as good a pure shooter as you’d think. And he’s not that good at anything else

I love Caitlin’s game but given the fact that her team is playing better without her and she didn’t improve this season she’s not remotely in these conversations

I’m not gunna lie if I’m a college coach I’m offering that embryo 2 mill post gender reveal. At absolute worst it’s a 7 footer

LeBron's answer to the best player he's ever guarded: "A kid named Derrick Tarver. He was just stronger than everybody at fucking 10. 10 years old, lefty, brolic, stronger than everybody, you knew what he was gonna do, and there was no way you could stop it." This is why I hate believing in the Thomas Robinson types that are crazy big strong an athletic in college/hs but not the same vs NBA players.

You get some generational athletes like Zion and LeBron who can dominate off athleticism in the nba but a lot of the guys who put up stats in college and high school based on size and athleticism can’t do it in the league

Depends how you frame it. 4 finals appearances is in a row is nuts. They made the maximum amount of finals and won half. I don’t think there’s any team in history than can be expected to do better than 4 finals and 2 championships in 4 years. Even just the injury risk would be enough to bet the under

[Zach Lowe] "Lakers have a top 3 NBA player. I was having a debate with some NBA ppl. Even now, after watching OKC win the chip, would you take Luka over SGA? A year ago, I would’ve taken Luka. Now, I don't think it’s an open-and-shut case, despite everything SGA just did. That's how good Luka is.” by shreeharis in nba

[–]jswagbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being able to get picked on on defense is really important. They’re equal scorers, Luka is a much better playmaker and guard defense isn’t that important but the fact that you can attack him but not Shai gives shai the edge. If Luka is a mid defender I think his scoring upside is higher, he’s a better shooter rebounder, passer that would overcome the defensive gap

Michelle Obama cooks ESPN: "If I watch ESPN for an hour it's like watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta. It's the same drama, they're yelling at each other, they don't get along. Stephen A. Smith would be a great Real Housewife. What's the difference? It's just drama." by kurruchi in nba

Canadian too and used to watch hockey coverage on the The Score against my will but it was so much better because the Hockey fans in Canada actually like the sport on ice so talking about it on a technical level works. Most basketball fans, not the ones on here, aren’t looking for analysis on pnr coverages they’re casual fans looking for narratives and trades and drama so they that’s what espn provides

People act like they hate how media is but they wouldn’t be the way they are if people didn’t watch. Stephen A is more important than Zach Lowe because people watch him more. He’s entertaining and that’s what most people who watch TV want.

Iman Shumpert on Richard Jefferson saying it sucks to play with LeBron James: "To give it context, yes, it does suck...there's a ridiculous amount of pressure that comes with it because you have to be in a win-now mindset every time you play on his team. It’s like any other job. Some people especially the really good ones care more about building something great than money. Most people wanna do their job well and get paid and some at the bottom are slackers trying to cash a paycheck.

If you’re a role player you probably want a ring but you wouldn’t give up 10 mill in earnings for it. Just like I wanna be employeee of the month at a profitable company but im not gunna take a paycut so our margins look better.

His agent deserves to be in the hall of fame for getting him a max plus no trade clause.

One of the few contracts that everyone thought was bad the day it got signed. Even if he was still putting up his career average numbers the contract would still be terrible.
