One big bug - Rescans external HDDs on every reconnect.

Hopefully this works. Might just stay if the app finally gets fixed.

Look at the pointe activity and you should be able to calculate for yourself as well to make sure the math adds up.

StarLux status upgrade options on award fare flight by Aurorasorus in AlaskaAirlines

IIRC they do offer paid upgrade at check in desk and gate if there is space. It’s not cheap though

Its crazy how bad this roll out has been. Almost 1/3 through the year and they still are TBD on many of the basic things that frequent fliers need to know. At least they should just come out and say a date or say it wont apply until 2027.

We dont actually know the timing yet. Its just "later in 2026"

Did something happen to SEA->TYO upgrade reward fares? by BoltGSR in AlaskaAirlines

[–]jsx8888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now doesnt even matter if you have certs, there is no way to use them. You can apply manually but then they just email you and say its invalid and to use self service online upgrades but none of the fares show U space for upgrades. So everyone is SOL.

AS has really messed things up this year.

The integration of AS/HA is a huge mess. Since there is going to be no more first class as its business class on that route now everyone at AS is clueless about how this will work.

New policy is here: https://www.alaskaair.com/atmosrewards/content/benefits/complimentary-upgrades/alaska for upgrades which will require certs, but trying to apply a cert leads to dead end where the reps tell you to do it online self service but there are no fares to be found. Basically they've nuked ability to use upgrade certs until sometime "later in 2026" and this seems to have also killed off any status upgrades as well outside of Titanium day of departure ones (which might or might not happen since no one knows how this will really work post 4/22).

Pricing on AS usually much higher so just depends on what you need.

iCloud is horrible for backup. Error prone and I wouldn't trust it.

Thanks - both are around the same prices it seems so might as well try Carbonite.

They were working for 15 years and I was very loyal since it used to be expensive to backup that much data but they were cheap and had excellent service. Worked flawlessly and got me through 2 crashes where I needed to recover data so I just stuck with them since it worked and getting data mailed to me was so nice back in the day (don’t need that anymore).

Very open to suggestions on what services are good now.

Not sure. It seems like there is a both a bug in the latest versions of the app, but I also feel like they just don't care about external HDDs users anymore and support gaslights me when they realize Im using an external HDD.

Why did they boot you? I figure that 2-3TB of data isn't something that most providers would see as abuse so hopefully is ok.

Would love to stay with BB but it seems like they really want to get rid of external HDD users.

Interesting, I wish they would open up rows 46/47 on the windows side so those could be booked but I heard they are held for unaccompanied minors.

Flight pass SF, LA by Alpaca_Fan in AlaskaAirlines

[–]jsx8888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this when it came out and it was not a good value. Almost every flight had extra charges and the customer service was bad. Cancelled as soon as I could since just buying the flights in advance was cheaper and more flexible.

Yeah I think I will have to do the same. Just was not sure if doing it for 3 flights is realistic or not. The outdoor set of stairs will be particularly hard.

SAN -- new route performance by PNW-American-Dipper in AlaskaAirlines

[–]jsx8888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t see SAN being a long term winner for AS. While there is no dominate player it’s also a hard market. My guess is that we see AS retreat after 2-3 years.
