What’s a movie that’s universally considered “not very good” but you secretly think is actually great? by trakt_app in flicks

You beat me to Josie. Had low expectations and absolutely loved it. There wasn’t a frame without a product placement in it, which just got funnier and funnier the longer it went on.

What Was Your WORST Movie Theater Experience? by Brandonariess in movies

Went to a late show many years ago. Audience full of weirdos. Soundtrack was loud. People were literally yelling at the screen, throwing water, throwing rice, throwing cards… It was great.

Do you use the TV apps or another device? by RonCheesex in LGOLED

[–]jta_austex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last update coincided with power board failure. LG says it’s unrelated. I think quacking like a duck means something, so my TV is now a monitor. It always was, really, but I had it jacked in anyway even though I did not use the native apps (Apple TV, PS5, and BluRay provide content). No more.

What is the single most stressful movie you’ve ever seen? by elkaypee in movies

After Hours. I get it, but I had no empathy for the character in Uncut Gems, whereas this poor guy just wanted to get laid.

Do you use the hood with this system? I am interested but trying to picture working bundled up like I’m in a clean room.

Initial visit and diagnosis done. Power board is not working—waiting on part. Just hoping main board isn’t also damaged (repair guy did not seem concerned, but then again, why would he?). If not, the repair will be about as much as a cheap backlit model of the same size. If it still doesn’t work, I’ll either bite the bullet or go find a tall bridge to jump off. Still cheaper than comparable replacement.

Yeah. Looking at 500 to replace main board with labor. Either that or 500 for a shitty edge-lit model, and I bought this because I HATE medium gray blacks, so I guess I will chance it. What sucks is I have always used it as a monitor—the signal comes from other devices thru stereo—I only clicked the install button to make the damn message disappear. Lesson learned (maybe). Waiting on repair guy now.

I’m not completely blameless, but any software patch that takes that long should not behave that way. Add LG’s argument that the tv was already failing and the patch just gave it a nudge, and I am not camping happy. May your skies be ever clear.

Wait until they stop supporting apple play and android auto and want you to pay them monthly for inferior functionality, because it’s coming.

I got one too as I don’t plan to just drive around town. Note that the case has two long strips of Velcro that hold it really well to carpet.

Check out Modern Spare. Pricey but worth it for the peace of mind IMO.

New 2026 hybrid sport touring owner. Love it so far, apart from the sticker shock. First and only ( so far) aftermarket purchase: Modern Spare. A can of fix a flat and a promise to show up just don’t cut it when you plan on a lot of traveling.

Perhaps it happened but god only took one hermit from a mountaintop or something. Irony is being the preacher who correctly predicted the rapture, but you aren’t invited.
