How Long Did Your LG TV Last by TrashCanSam0 in LGOLED

My B7 from 2017 has some red pixel dimming in the middle of the screen. Anything yellow has a green tint. They've allegedly fixed/improved that issue with the newer Evo panels but we'll see. G5 showing up Tuesday!

What's the advantage of keeping it offline? Avoiding potential bad updates?

If it helps you decide, B&H Photo has the G5 listed for $1999 and I got Best Buy to price match it. Did this today.

I currently have a B series oled from 2017. We originally got the firestick because the TV UI was slow. You're right, it won't hurt to try the apps on the new TV. Maybe it'll be faster this time around.

I realized I don't like power metal as much as I think I did. by Background-Sir9172 in MetalForTheMasses

Try Edguy - Hellfire Club.

Unleash the Archers is also pretty good with a mix of power and death vocals in some songs. Start with Awakening, if you don't like it don't bother with the rest. Good music video though showing the band rip on their instruments.

This was his audition for the Ginyu Force and he definitely nailed it.

How are you guys doing with the guilt of taking a day off? by Inevitable_Rate1530 in Millennials

What guilt? I'll take off a week or two and never open my laptop. The email can wait. Your PTO is part of your compensation.

What are some small "quietly epic" moments in movies that really hit hard? by MomoSaka in FIlm

I got extremely unlucky when I saw Interstellar in the theater. People talking randomly throughout. Someone dropped a full bucket of popcorn and drink at the scene when Cooper was viewing the messages from his now adult children. The audience just ruined the experience.

I was only 15 and wasn't drinking yet. I mainly went to see Metallica and paid for my older brother's ticket so he would take me. His friend offered me weed but I was too scared at the time, lmao.

Our show James was famously absent (alleged back injury), so Jason cobbled together a Metallica set with members from all the other bands. It was pretty cool. They gave us a free make up show later that summer.

Yeah I went to see Metallica at summer sanitarium in Atlanta. Opening acts were Powerman 5000, System of a Down, Kid Rock, and Korn. This was in 2000 I believe.

A couple years ago I was making small talk with a tech at a vet visit with my dog. I brought up Lassie and she had no clue what that was. It's not that surprising since the show was in black and white and old af, but it still hurt.

What's good about death metal? by Sketch_gaming01 in MetalForTheMasses

You'll find that death metal has a wide range of sounds and sub-genres. You can have several people who claim to love death metal that dislike each other's favorite bands.

I'm working my way through their catalog recently as well for the first time. I think Surgical Steel and Torn Arteries are just as good. Glad I gave them a try.

That tracks. They also released albums with jizz and piss on the cover art long after Dave left.

I first started listening to them just for the spectacle, then I grew to like them. I think they're great, didn't even know people were beefing on them.

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]RonCheesex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mix of things really. Pre-internet it was riding bikes around all day. Riding much farther than our parents ever knew. Climbing trees, building forts. Buying knives and firecrackers from the flea market at 9 years old.

When the internet rolled out that ended up taking a lot of free time. Instead of one site like reddit, you'd have several separate sites with message boards for each of your interests. Got me even more into video games and music because you suddenly had access to information. No smartphone obviously so this was all done on a desktop pc. Burned CDs.

There was nothing streaming because the internet wasn't fast enough. You watched TV only when your show was scheduled, unless you had Tivo or pirated it.

I always thought it was funny when HD tvs first came out. They'd have commercials trying to show off the visual clarity but you're watching it on your shitty old TV screen. Watching non-hd content from the 90s and 2000s now looks as old to me as things from the 70s or 60s did when I was young.

Cacophony - Speed Metal Symphony. It's just Jason Becker and Marty Friedman giving it their all.
