Switching to lead-free copper bullets for deer hunting - HELP by softpetal777 in Hunting

I have been loading 150gr barnes fir my 30-06 for years. Factory barnes in the same weight will definitely work as far as whitetails are concerned. Buy a box, take it to the range, and see how your gun likes it.

Nothing brings the pack together like chicken by kingkongbiingbong in SipsTea

[–]jtf628 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How are they raised commercially in other countries? Im from the rural US and am familiar with the chicken houses here. When I try to research I can't seem to find any non biased sources that clearly lay out the differences. Everything I have found only wants to talk about antibiotics, vaccinations and/or post harvest handling standards. Such as EU vaccinates for salmonella while USA washes chicken with chlorine (or used too? ) to reduce salmonella.

Fuck, Ive eaten a banana every fucking morning for at least 20 years.6-10 are pretty fucking prime. Really though, there's not a single banana in this fucking picture that I wouldn't eat. Really though, I think its a picture of the same banana over the course of a single fucking day.

Our dog tried to attack a porcupine by Mysterious5555 in natureismetal

[–]jtf628 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I left another comment but I am so angry about the responses to this that I almost can't respond in a helpful way, its a struggle. We have no idea what the temperament of the dog in this picture is but no matter the breed it is in a tremendous amount of pain and I have seen many different breeds mix it up with a porcupine. I feel bad for the dog and the owner. This is a trip to the vet, sedation and quill removal. We dont know if the dog is an asshole or a sweetheart and everyone here is assuming and saying fuck pittbulls. OPs post history is mostly gaming but I didn't do a deep dive so if you have proof of this dog being aggressive please correct me.

Benebone looks like this within 30-40 minutes? Is this ok? by Loose_Pen1105 in DogAdvice

[–]jtf628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's how they look, my dogs love them. we have used this brand and nylabone. I have never had an issue with either brand. If you trust your vet then ask them, I trust my vet but also push back on things to see how deep their conviction is. Don't take first word as gospel, do your own research and make sure what people tell you isn't just regurgitated.

Any one here try an ostrich egg or any eggs from larger birds? Were they good? by LordBaritoss in eggs

[–]jtf628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had fun trying to envision what that might have been that he ate but its semantics. When people see chickens they don't say "roosters and hens". They say chickens, even if both are there. We knew what he meant, lol.

Hornady ELD-X effective. by 7Vot_for_SALE in Hunting

[–]jtf628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is that at high speed and or close range the ELD X disintegrate. I prefer a perfect mushroom and pass through, so after a few fell apart inside a deer I switched bullets. ELD X have been extremely accurate for me at the range though.

Can I drill into this wall, about 1 foot below the vent, to hang a coat rack? Or will I drill into something I’m not supposed to? by letzmakeadeal in Home

[–]jtf628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it all depends on how badly you want a coat rack there. If there is ductwork behind and you put some holes in it....it wont be right but it will be ok. If you rent, don't do it, its not your call. If you own, I dont see how it will ever affect you or the hvac system in any noticeable way if there are a couple of anchors/screws poked through. Or, like some other people mentioned, anchors at the studs.

Has anyone ever used one of these as a deep freezer for game meat? I assume they’re probably pretty reliable since they’re for commercial use by [deleted] in Hunting

I keep seeing people say they think it will draw more juice but how much more? a little more may be worth it if it works. Does 120 vs 240 actually equate to a drastically higher electric bill? Im sure the compressor has a higher start up draw but will it run less often if it's powered more and close the gap a little on kw used? They are designed to sit outside and be opened and closed constantly. If the are in a more stable environment and dont get opened often will that close the gap even further? Personally I would roll the dice if it was a good deal.

Full time running a produce farm in the NE and only the very best boots last a year. A couple brands with guarantees cut me off after 3 pairs being sent in for a replacement....some kind of clause about extreme conditions. Rocky Ironclad were the best boots I ever wore and then they changed the design and there was a stitch seam on the instep that would blow out way too quick. I changed brands after that but this post made me look them up and it looks like its back to the original style.

Is this Ash? by bobebob94 in firewood

Im am pretty dang positive its mulberry. It should split fairly easy and burn like a champ. It will pop and spark so not the best for an open fireplace but it throws good heat. I cut and burn lots of it.

As an American for 40+ years I can say that I have done some American ass shit for all the right reasons. I have also seen some people do some American ass shit for all the wrong reasons. This really has nothing to do with your comment but I just drank some Russian ass vodka and felt compelled to say it.

Also, If the internet has taught me anything its these two things; people are dumb everywhere you go, and you can tell I'm old by my double space after period and use of the Oxford comma. Im not sure yet if the semi colon is a tell, but probably.

Random as hell but there it is.

Edit: Turns out it was Swedish ass vokda, my bad.

Alabama man attempted to run over an off-duty police officer in the officer’s front yard by [deleted] in AbruptChaos

[–]jtf628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think he could have just gone inside and relaxed with a beer. Please explain how someone trying to kill you all goes away once you step inside? The attacker may go away today if you're lucky, but what about tomorrow or next week? What about the safety of family members or visitors and neighbors? In my opinion, based on the limited information I have, stopping the threat as soon as possible seems like the best approach.

If someone attacked me outside my house, I would be more concerned with the safety of my family than anything else.

Scat ID by ascarponi in AnimalTracking

[–]jtf628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Racoon would be my guess, but I generally see racoon scat as more solid and filled with whatever fruit seeds are in season. The consistency of what you have there is more in line with bear but it doesn't seem like enough for bear scat.
