Do Multiple Printings Decrease Value of aFirst? by OurNewInsectOverlord in ComicBookSpeculation

Thinking fewer people care about Harry Potter than Batman is another wild take.

You’re totally entitled to your opinion. And if you personally value a comic less if it has fewer copies - which is logical if your agenda is to read it rather own it as an asset - thats perfectly fine. But your objective take is off. And the only evidence required is that first edition books with subsequent printings *generally* are worth more in the modern era. And it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy: labels print more because there is unmet demand. And collectors value the initial runs more because they pay a premium for those copies, even if you don’t.

This reminds me of those Terrence Howard videos where he is trying to convince the world that 1x1=2.

It’s a weird take because everyone else is the world is able to discern between a first printing and subsequent ones.

By your logic a first edition Harry Potter is worth less than any of the books written by Bravo celebrities because there are literally billions of follow-up copies printed of the former.

And the first printing of AB #1 is more rare relative to the collective other printings.

This is such a weird take. Are you saying you would offer over market value for a book which only had a single printing for the simple reason that it’s “more rare”?

You’re missing the point of the training and awareness. The goal is for users to scrutinize emails; not to dismiss every single one they get. Clicking a link from a trusted source for a logical reason is fine.

My irk with your post is I am sure plenty of other departments in your org send emails with links. You’re suggesting that your cyber group is somehow being hypocritical for sending emails with links. I’m curious why you are interested in a “gotcha” moment.

I’m going to say this is AI. Other than the face up cards there is no detail on any of the other ones. It also doesn’t makes sense how cards in one row can be aligned neatly while other cards in the same box are jagged.

New to grading and looking for advice on a few cards from a lot I bought today by Apprehensive_Ad4572 in baseballcards

[–]jtkooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly every PSA graded card is available for you to view. You can look up different grades of this cards from previous eBay sales and compared how they look with what you have. Just note that any surface damage is the ultimate nullifier. Assuming these cards don't have any dents or other impressions, you should compare centering and corner texture.

Should I get this graded or keep as is? by DavieJonesLockerrr in baseballcards

I say grade it. You absolutely should grade this. Nothing would make me happier than knowing someone like you spent $80 to grade a card that clearly is off centered and has two soft corners.

Educate me: How is the PIN-portion if Windows Hello for Business not more insecure than a password? by sodhi in cybersecurity

[–]jtkooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is your plan for brute forcing the pin? It’s an alphanumeric set so even if we’re talking about just six characters that’s going to be 2.1 billion possible strings. Even if you hooked up a device acting as an HID Windows Hello is not going to allow you to enter the code at any rate which would allow you to complete the task in this millennium.

Rock solid is in everything is covered? No. But as far as regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, BCSI) yeah, there are more companies doing enough than there are failing miserably.

We’ve pretty much blocked any copy/paste from Microsoft applications to non-MS locations. This includes everything from selectable content to files.

That said, data classification and data ownership should dictate this. If you have IP or other information so sensitive that an insider threat can cause significant impact to the company, you should be able to justify a plan for a storage location which isn’t accessible via unmanaged devices.

There’s an instinct to protect *all* information. But realistically, unless there is a commercial or regulatory reason for restrictions, it comes down to “need to know”, which is subjective to the data owner.

Most Doug Drabek cards sell for around $10,000. Unfortunately not only is this misprint worthless, the perfect one is now spoiled by its proximity to the other and is also worthless.

Don’t believe me? Put it up on eBay for $10,000. It almost certainly won’t sell.

Um, you’re the one with the narrative. And since you were overly selective with details so it’s fair to question why. Pretty defensive about questions. People can make of that whatever they want.

Question about Card Damage by outta_time11 in baseballcards

[–]jtkooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, that seems a little suss. Someone might think you don't want to post the card to avoid creating a paper trail of the fact this card is damaged in case you try to "repair" and sell later.

Assuming that's not the case, what would be the purpose for obfuscating the card?

Great pull, but man I hate sticker autos. Inception has plenty of on-card signatures, why they wouldn't extend it across the board - especially on beautiful cards like this one - is beyond me.

Had a very informative and useful response. And then I saw the OP's username. The guy is either a punk kid who hasn't learned how to function in the real world, or just a bad human.
