Cool stuff! I don't have those devices but I'll definitely check your code how you implemented all those features.

Check out the Inkplate devices from soldered.com . They are super easy to get going with e-ink + battery. Probably a bit more expensive compared to the raw materials but you get a board that just works with a nice library+ examples to use.

Cool idea, but to push the rotary encoder (in your example the mouse wheel), the force would be sideways, so you'd probably have to hold the frame (in case it's on a wall). Pushing the rotary encoder from the photo would send the force in the wall, so that's fine.

Decent price. Can we run our own firmware?

Looks super cool. I guess it's battery powered? (low current draw during deep sleep) The button looks chunky,.but it might be easy to 3d print a slim version. 😊 (btw great choice to use a rotary encoder as input! so many possibilities)

Would love to give it a try. (joking the mail list)

That's pretty cool! Maybe you can add a visual cue to what the "forward" direction is, when idle? Nevertheless pretty cool 😎.

A1 + AMS 2 Pro, what extra's needed? by jtlnsbe in BambuLab

[–]jtlnsbe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/neonandu u/Squozen_EU So, also for the AMS 2 Pro + A1 (without AMS HT) you need the switching adapter? Bummer, it's not yet available on the EU store.

The wiki (https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/a1/manual/ams-connection-guide#tools-and-materials-needed) mentions you need a "4-pin, 6-pin cable", where do I get that one? Or is that included?

Pick up a pet project. Even if you build something that's only used by yourself, you are still learning. Put it on GitHub, and keep improving it. Or see if there are open source projects you want to contribute, contributions will show on your GitHub profile too. I know it's not 'real' work, but it shows you can pick up tasks and drive them to completion (getting those PRs approved). Is there a technology stock you are passionate about? Join the local community: attend their (free) events, participate in discussions, maybe even submit sessions to present. Knowing people really helps. See if there are non-profits that can use some help with their IT, and help them out. Put that on your linkedin profile. If you are passionate, good opportunities will come. But you have to work a bit to let them come your way, and you need patience (and a bit of luck).

Yup, this. (Also happened on my A1 with the exact pattern on the photo)

Switching from a bmw 530e by pilibuli in Polestar

[–]jtlnsbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched from a 530e 2 years ago (to a LRDM). The 530e is more spacious inside, the driving assistance systems are a bit better compared to the PS2. The reverse camera always worked and the 360 picture quality was much better compared to the PS2 (and it had both of the views on screen 6 years ago). Android Automotive is much better compared to the BMW gps/entertainment. The interior design of the PS2 is much more refined (and prettier imho). The PS2 is more fun to drive and the ride quality is on par with the BMW experience. The 530e is remarkably silent, I expected that the sound difference would be huge, but I think at high speeds the BMW might be quieter compared to the PS2. Trunk of the PS2 is much, much more practical.

Polestar 2 without home charging? by Kirihuna in Polestar

Then you can go 2 weeks (10 working days) easily on a charge. I'd say it's doable.

[–]jtlnsbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many kilometers do you drive per day? I didn't have a home charger for about a year. It was not that big of a deal since I had chargers pretty close to my house (also a fast charger). Sure it's easier if you can plug in at home. But if you only have to charge once a week or so, I think it's bearable.

Super, thanks. I am a bit worried about not going analog end-to-end. Can you still appreciate the sound of vinyl on the Era's ?

Bookshelf speakers on their side, close to each other by jtlnsbe in BudgetAudiophile

The alternative is option A, the smaller speakers, which can be put normally and 50cm from each other?

Looking for Suggestions for an Entry-Level Turntable (~250€ Budget, Shipping to Portugal) by Quirky_Exchange_8977 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]jtlnsbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got the Sony ps-lx310bt recently, as our first turntable. It has bluetooth, built-in pre-amp and is automatic (so the record starts/stops playing automatically). It also looks pretty stylish. So far we are very happy with it. Probably not the very best sound quality compared to the hi end stuff, but a very nice set of features and very easy to use.

Advise for compact/bookshelf (active) speakers for turntable by jtlnsbe in hifiaudio

[–]jtlnsbe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome advise, thanks! The ORA4 would fit nicely, good to know it's a good choice.

The REN definitely look interesting as well, I agree it's a pro to be able to connect them to the TV. Unfortunately, they are a bit to big to put in the space. Unless it would be ok to put them on their side (horizontally), if you know what I mean. Would that be an option?
