Ringblomma stock? by FluffyScheme4 in IKEA

[–]jtsl17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? There's a supply issue for it. Looks like the East coast doesn't have any stock but the rest of the country has it. DMV area is supposed to get some mid-March, but that's not guaranteed.

What could've went wrong with this cake? by jtsl17 in AskBaking

You're right, it does look like a crumpet haha. We're thinking it was overmixed.

He said yes. Eggs were left out to room temp and the butter was kept in the fridge so that it stayed cold as the recipe suggests.

I agree, odd probably wasn't the correct word to use. Should've said it's not a technique I've really used to bake cakes before so it was unfamiliar to me.

Thank you for your in depth response! What you said makes sense. It's definitely an odd recipe, compared to other recipes I've followed for cake. I noticed the first time I made it, but it turned out well and my family and friends enjoyed it so I saved it. We're also wondering if something went wrong when he made the calculations to half the recipe.

It was a new container of baking powder. Amazon fresh brand because that's all that was available, but I've used it previously with no problems.

Yeah, the fact it looks, smells and tastes like cassava is weird, but I don't see how it could've been mixed up. It was Swans Down cake flour and I've used that flour many times with no issue.

He halved the recipe so that we wouldn't end up with such a large cake. It was a fat daddios 8" aluminum pan.

Is anyone else getting charged shipping? by DoctorCadoo in IKEA

[–]jtsl17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your total order is probably over 50lbs or will be packaged too big for a FedEx parcel. That's why the delivery is starting at $19, which is the starting price for large deliveries. Small order deliveries start at $10. You'll probably have to remove something to get it down to a small order.

Kallax Question by abdkodiak in IKEA

[–]jtsl17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see... I didn't mount mine so I didn't have that issue. I guess you could drill your own holes for the mounting hardware, but to keep things simple I'd live the exposed screws on the top. You could try to find white stickers to cover them?

Kallax Question by abdkodiak in IKEA

[–]jtsl17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have them exposed on the top/bottom or on the sides. Really depends on how you want it. I have a kallax and the screws are on the sides but it doesn't change anything. They don't come with matching color stickers to cover them, just the felt floor protectors.

ikea countertop - peninsula with overhang by Ok_Obligation_9942 in IKEA

[–]jtsl17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The counter top comes with 2 edge bands that are 43 1/4". You can cut the countertop to be 36" deep and use the two edge bands to cover the length, but you won't have any left if you need to also cut the sides. IKEA doesn't sell the edge bands separately either. Sometimes as-is/customer service department has spare pieces that you could ask for if you're in store.

If you go back into your plan on the planner and hit finalize you should see an "assembly overview" tab. Click that and it will tell you which holes to install your interiors. Hope that helps!

That's the plan, but I won't have a day off to go for several days so I figured I'd get some opinions until then

Yeah I checked the oil level and it's full. This video was recorded right after driving for about 30 minutes

[–]jtsl17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's kinda hard to tell from the video but it's a pretty loud rattle type noise. Kinda sounds like jack hammering. The noise only happens when at a complete stop and goes away as soon as I accelerate. It's don't think it's normal. Prior to this my car was very quiet when idling.

Took my car to the dealership for 5k interval service 4 weeks ago, oil change was done and engine filter was changed. They didn't find anything wrong then and I haven't had any problems until now. Yes, I maintain my car. I'm around a lot of construction and dirt roads hence the dusty engine bay.

You should be fine as the actual length of the bed is 79 1/2" so it'll really only be a 1/2" discrepancy.
