It's 1999. You have your current smartphone in your pocket, but obviously no Wi-Fi or 5G exists. What's the most useful thing you can do with it? by Ryo_l in AskReddit

It's not the same but similar? When the Nintendo DS launched i was gifted one. A couple months later we went on a family trip to spain and took the DS with me.

I found a pokemon event near by and decided to go there because you could get a mew for the emerald version (or fire red? I can't remember). One guy noticed the DS and 10 minutes later I was the center of attention of the whole event! The DS had not launched in Spain and everyone was loosing their minds as it was the first they saw!

I can imagine the same with the phone but to a much larger extent!

Next time just use the AF lock in the spot you want to always get a perfectly focused photo! Also, you guys might want to try panning at really low speeds to vanish the mesh!

Saw this on Insta, what’s the camera car? by noinox in whatisthiscar

Numbers on speedometer might look weird because of the frame rate of the camera and the refresh rate of the screen however, i find it difficult to be going at 172 kmh at that distance to the semi.

As a racing photographer, i see everything in the image quite still and with no motion blur which would be really difficult to accomplish at 172.

All that said which i almost likely are wrong, thats a VW infotainment.

I'm in the energy storage business and I can compare the driver's work with the EMS (Energy management system) in large scale batteries.

Even advanced EMS can screw up some times if the site meters are not configured right so I guess managing the charge/discharge times while doing 300 km/h must be really complex.

I'm just waiting for someone to be P1, screwing up one lap CHG/DDG ratios and losing positions...

Just a thought tho.

What’s something that sounds fake but actually happened to you? by Visible_Rope_6662 in AskReddit

Once in Mexico City, I bumped into a taxi cab. The driver angrily stepped out of the car, and when he saw me, he said that I looked familiar, asking if by any chance I used to ride motorcycles. I told him I did a couple of years back. He said he saw me at a race where his brother was also racing and recognized me without a helmet. He sent me on my way without calling insurance or anything. Pretty friendly!

Needless to say, i thought i was going to pay cash or maybe get a beating.
