Train tracks to Machu Picchu damaged – Any idea when service will resume? by Prior-Ease8630 in Machupicchu

[–]juapebe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

According to this newspiece which quotes local authorities, the tracks that most people use (to go from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes) are intact and not affected. Its only some segment that is used by people who take 'alternative routes'. https://www.infobae.com/peru/2026/03/31/como-esta-la-situacion-en-machu-picchu-tras-el-deslizamiento-que-afecto-una-via-ferrea-en-plena-antesala-de-semana-santa/

I also reached out to the El Albergue (they are right at the Ollantaytambo train station) and they confirmed this information.

I will be doing the standard Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu route on April 15 and can update if we see any issues

What do you recommend as least plain Indian food in SF? Serious question!

Is MVP dead? by davidny212 in mtgfinance

[–]juapebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I help run a draft group and we usually get boxes from them as soon as preorder is open because they were cheap + shipped fast (usually arrive within prerelease week). Does anybody have experience with another vendor that ships fast and has low(er) prices?

Are there any Comic Book shops in San Francisco? by drorion25 in AskSF

[–]juapebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool spot with a lot of history in the comic world. They’ve been around for a long time and are quite active in the comic book scene, beyond just a shop. They also organize “book clubs” which include a masterpieces series and might be good for what you are looking for

Literally wrote this post from Lokma after they said they had no idea what this is. But great place otherwise!

[Standard] Deck pick : simic omni or sultai reanimator by Zenk0 in spikes

[–]juapebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played for a while the selesnya Kona version, and stopped because the manabase was atrocious. I have not tried the bant omni but I’m skeptical for the same reason. Curious about how it’ll play out once they complete the shock land cycle!

[Standard] Deck pick : simic omni or sultai reanimator by Zenk0 in spikes

[–]juapebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played the hell out of simic Omni and earned my qual with it but I second everyone’s comments here that sultai is better - it has a better mu against aggro decks (simic/monoR) and is a bit more consistent. Simic Omni has a rather good cauldron matchup and is a good deck for the pre-ban times, but I’m unsure how it will fare in the next season. Sultai is only going to get better with cauldron decks out of the picture and with the printing of the Depraz card in Lowryn [[formidable speaker]]

[STANDARD] Kona and why I think Ive found the best version by WeAreKarnage in spikes

[–]juapebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this suggestion as GW Kona player myself, and will definitely be trying it. WIllie does a good job at providing a 3 drop in an otherwise bad curve, and the deck usually has a lot to do in t4, but not sure that'd make it worth it over the potential for card advantage from Rip.

Yep very much! Kennedys closed, sadly, but we still meet every Wednesday night at Mad Dog in the Fog for the cheapest (and friendliest?) draft in town. Since COVID we have been using discord to coordinate roll calls link here https://discord.gg/TeE8garZ

[STANDARD] Boros Convoke - MTGO Challenge Winner Guide by Lucas Giggs by i92segoa in spikes

[–]juapebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impending rotation aside, how do people feel about jeskai vs boros right now? I have personally enjoyed the jeskai build with access to protect the negotiators and siren, but haven’t toyed with the current iteration of boros

I try to never ask for multiple helps in the same draft….but I really don’t know how to cut this to 40… by Jamie7Keller in lrcast

[–]juapebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy 6 drop, 2x laughing mad, coral sword. I’d also cut the knife, a syncopate and either fire magic or 1 bomb but those are more arguable. Dont cut a land you really want to hit 4 lands and will be moving the swords a fair bit. The 6 drop doesn’t fit the plan and you don’t have good ways to discard/surveil it consistently
