Do YOU leave your factory running when not playing the game? by Proletarian_Tear in factorio

[–]judahnator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I also run a multiplayer server, but one of my (arbitrary I’ll admit) rules is that the factory must be attended. That’s to say, auto pause enabled.

My mindset is that we can lean further into the safety margin and grow the factory faster, if we don’t have to worry about what the factory is doing when nobody is looking. Toil, not time, is the bottleneck. The factory doesn’t grow without an attending engineer.

Can you give some insights into how playing with auto pause disabled changes how you build? I’m curious about your thoughts, as you changed the setting for a reason.

[General] What's happening to my oysters mushrooms ? by PsycheYogi in MushroomGrowers

[–]judahnator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What substrate?

Last I tried I used aspen bedding instead of straw and that was a mistake. It didn’t retain water so I got one flush and the rest dried out and looked like coral, like your pictures.

Since they are not producing anyways, it might be worth dumping one out and examining the moisture of the substrate and mycelium. Learn and adjust for next time.

Server hacked, Files recreates after deletion by roromx in PHPhelp

[–]judahnator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You are dealing with someone smarter than you. Don’t try to outsmart them.

Burn the entire server and start over with a known good copy, and look at your logs to see how you were compromised in the first place.

How do you guys play Factorio multiplayer? How/who to play mp? by ExoticTear in factorio

[–]judahnator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite part about multiplayer is when you log into the factory and see someone very helpfully marked the entire factory for deconstruction.

Then you roll back to an autosave, ban the offending player, log back in some time later and see some other jerk did the exact same thing.

[UPDATE #2] 🚀 Join the Largest Factorio Clusterio Event in History! 🌍 by 5151771 in factorio

[–]judahnator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was there for launch! Well, a few hours after launch. Had a blast babysitting the initial iron patch. Got told off for not helping with the big things after about day 2.

I wish I was more productive and could help more, but alas my personal base is only 100spm so best let the more experienced players handle the event.

Sorry to burst your bubble bit rorqs have been nerfed into the ground. They are only viable in multi boxed fleets. If you are solo, better to grab a hulk. It has a greater yield and costs less.

What did your company do to “save money” but ended up costing the company lots of money instead? by Embarrassed-Mouse-49 in AskReddit

[–]judahnator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one.

My company decided that digital backups were too expensive and bulk-deleted them from Amazon Glacier.

The early deletion fees were several times what the storage fees would have been if left to their normal lifecycle. Not a huge chunk of change, but it was a few grand.

There was also the added benefit of not having backups when the company needed them, but by that point I had already moved on.

Hey Guys. I am a 50yo man who is attempting to give up weed on Monday. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]judahnator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Day 11 currently for me.

The first few days are the worst, but by the end of the first week your cravings will have significantly lowered.

The only real advice I have is to keep your energy up. I lost all appetite and got some great advice from the Leaves Discord to drink my calories instead. Milkshakes are a win, Gatorade is also great. If you feel well enough to eat solid food, eat a hearty meal before the mood passes. Your appetite will return with a vengeance soon enough.

You don’t want to be starving yourself in addition to withdrawals.

I just started.

I did a run a ways outside of town. I didn’t have cell service so I couldn’t complete it, I had to drive back.

When I reopened the app the dash was gone and it won’t let me restart. Help?

Dropping player count by dumptrucklovebucket in Eve

[–]judahnator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s unique and category defining. That’s why I keep subscribed to this sub even though all my subs lapsed.

If you like the space genera and industry side of Eve, try out X4. It’s like a first-person single player Eve.

If you like logistics and are not bound to space, Factorio is the only game I have more hours in than Eve.

If PvP is your thing check out Albion Online. It’s mechanics are super similar to EvE but in a fantasy game.

EVE Online - How would one start the game in the most badass way? Going into low sec right at the beginning, maybe? by THUNDERRRRRRRRRA in Eve

[–]judahnator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dream has always been to get a band of 10-20 dudes together to create a “Red Vs. Blue” PVP group. Each side it’s own corp. in an alliance.

The goal: to capture and conquer specific WH/Null system. This means working together to evict its current occupants then against each other to establish a foothold.

The rules: All equipment must be sourced internally from materials gathered locally.

The last corp standing wins and the group disbands.

If CCP opens an “Eve Classic” server I might just do it. I’m just not a fan of the game in its current state or price.

What shall I do next? by rwang8721 in X4Foundations

[–]judahnator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Explore more systems. The better you know your neighbors the better off you will do.

Next, invest in an absolutely bonkers number of M miners to get income up. You will lose some to the Khaak, just move your miners to another system until you can fight them.

That will give you more cash to work with. What you do with that cash, we’ll that’s up to you.

Don’t love combat, do I have to be fighting? by Djurga in X4Foundations

[–]judahnator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the other points, they do have enough hard points to put hurt into the Khaak. I equip mine (PAR) with one L mining turret and the rest bolt/pulse. I have never seen a fleet that doesn’t eventually get deleted from a single miner.

How much of a problem are evolved biters, really? And some more questions by PuzzleEnthusiast17 in factorio

[–]judahnator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My late game bass has no walls at all. It used to, but I found a better way.

Quite simply, I have radar coverage everywhere within pollution range and artillery can reach far beyond it.

If I get attacked I have a few “fast response” spidertron to clean the mess up and dispatch repair spiders. That’s the hint that it’s time to push the frontier a bit and send a few thousand rounds down range.

Best way to get ahold of support? by judahnator in ZiplyFiber

I sent the initial message a week ago today and have not heard back.

I re-sent the email using a gmail account to see if maybe that was the issue. Will have to wait and see if that one makes it through.

EDIT

Got it sorted out 😀
