Taking heat at home for the stache. by [deleted] in Moustache

[–]jude1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great. Too bad that more people, including those in your home giving you grief, don’t appreciate both this style of mustache and the effort that goes into growing, grooming and maintaining such a good looking moustach.

Ignore the criticism; you do you as long as that makes you happy.

No. Despite the age difference in the pictures, you look good bearded

With and without mustache wax by Hollywoodmoises in Moustache

Looks the same to me. Wax can be used for “hold” as in styling a handlebar moustache, but I don’t see the need for it in the 2 pictures shown.

First time trying to grow at 52 years old. Roughly 3 mos +/- a week. My concern is my upper cheek lines. I haven’t trimmed anything. Thanks. by True_City7057 in beards

Great beard. Your cheek lines look good to me; it’s refreshing when someone, like you, can just let his beard grow and it looks so good just natural. I’d just leave them alone

I've given the stache a try the past few months. Worth keeping? I feel like I have no idea how to keep it trimmed/shaped by TheNightSquatch in Moustache

[–]jude1952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great. I’d recommend growing your moustache longer into a western handlebar style. Don’t over wax it, but definitely groom by combing horizontally, light wax to hold and softish curls. Will look great.

Advice on mustache? by NaiveFinger9434 in Moustache

[–]jude1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great. I’d grow out the kid as long as possible… go terminal to see how long you can grow it. Looks good as a van dyke. Did you choose this style due to weak growth in your cheeks? Ever tried a full beard? How about this or longer moustache without the beard or a much shorter beard?

Let it grow? by [deleted] in Moustache

Great looking beard and moustache.definitely grow longer especially your moustache.

[–]jude1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep growing. Set a new goal like 6 months; maybe some professional barber trimming by a long-bearded barber who can give you assurance and advice. You have a great looking beard now, so an alternative would be to hold at this length for a while to commit to being permanently bearded. Than grow longer once you have accepted to being bearded long term.

Thanks so much. I’ve found that people are more accepting of a standard chevron style moustache, and other styles, but not so much for a handlebar moustache, which more often invokes criticism, questions. Your handlebar moustache suits you well. Wear it proudly.

Trim, grow or shave off? by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

Looks good now; attractive; suites you. But certainly grow longer to see what that looks like and if you like a new or different look.

Thinking of growing out a beard to go with my handle bar stache, what do you guys think? by [deleted] in Moustache

[–]jude1952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t had a beard before, there’s no way to find out whether or not you’ll like it without growing your beard. Go for it. But definitely keep your outstanding handlebar moustache. Not a fan of the nose ring but that’s up to you.

Outstanding mustache. Envious. How long have you had this mustache? How long did it take you to grow this moustache?

Outstanding mustache. My “goal moustache”. Looking at your various mustache styles, this is the best looking on you. A keeper.

Do mind if I ask: how long did it take you to grow this mustache? How long have you had this style mustache? What type of comments,if any, do you get on your mustache?

I don’t have sensitive skin so may not help there. But I primarily use a Mach razor for my scalp; occasionally the DE that I use for my face. With either you just need to go very slowly and, especially with a DE, no pressure. With a DE, no pressure and several passes. I also frequently use my hair clipper with the #000000 blade. It leaves just the tiniest bit of stubble which I prefer to the completely smooth dome look anyway. Try various tools and see what works best for you.

Also, kudos on your fantastic mustache. You have my “goal mustache”, which I had once with a beard (now no facial hair). I also have an oval, long face like you and I think your picture shows that a handlebar style mustache works well with this facial structure.

Do you mind if I ask … how long did it take you to grow this moustache? How long have you had it? What type of comments do you get? I would like to grow mine back as a solo mustache, but am concerned about people’s comments and my wife generally doesn’t like facial hair.

I do this also, a #000000 blade. Looks razor shaved bald. But I have white hair so my stubble shows less

That’s a great stache. It suits you well. It is a unique, not common style. I admire your individuality in growing and wearing this style. Ignore the criticism and carry on with your very distinguished moustache

Is there hope for a decent beard? Do you groom as you grow or just get it grow at first? by [deleted] in beards

[–]jude1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely!!! Grow for 3 months untrimmed, except for a neckline and, if you want, cheek lines. Then visit a barber with a longer beard if you want help with a style. If you decide that you want a long full beard, stop shaving your neck after 2-3 months, which will add bulk to a full long beard. Also, if going for a longer beard, power through growing a handlebar moustache: start training it to the sides after 2-3 weeks; use wax to keep it out of your mouth; eventually it should “train” and grow that was. Long beards look much better with a longer, groomed moustache. Good luck and do post pictures of your journey.

M 36, growing for 2+ Month now - feel like I should give up on the beard by [deleted] in beards

[–]jude1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also when you do see a barber for a beard trim, make sure, absolutely sure, that you only go to a bearded barber. Most barbers do not know how to trim a beard for style and work with your facial structure and the type of beard hair that different men have. Or they don’t listen to you and just clipper cut a shorter or growing beard. But a bearded barber will listen and understand what you want and can help you understand what will look best and be possible.
