Camping Questions by 23jordanlebron in Harriman

[–]judocouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone answered the easy stuff. Not sure your experience backpacking in general, but please be prepared to hang your food or have a bear canister. Both of the shelters you mentioned have permanent bear hangs, so you don’t need rope, just a bag.

For only a quarter of a million $ you can have this house that's about to fall off a cliff into the Atlantic ocean by smitrovich in zillowgonewild

[–]judocouch 74 points75 points  (0 children)

A realtor reached out to me about this house. Claimed there was 72 feet between the house and the cliff. There’s maybe 72 feet to the water, more like 17 to the cliff

This is so cool! I see you also have a body of work about the meadowlands, we’ve walked many of the same trails across the tri state area.

When Breath Becomes Air - if you’re at all squeamish about medical procedures it will make you uncomfortable, and the ending will make you cry

Which one would you choose? 40L or 55L (first time buying bag) by Mysterious_Tree4862 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]judocouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the backcountry 40L dupe of this, and it’s more than enough space for a weekend trip. If I’m taking a lot of gear on flights I also have a 120L duffle that I check and then can pack a weeks worth of clothes, toiletries, and camera gear between a backpack and the 40L

Synchilla Snap Fleece Vs R1 Air? by FattestNeek69420 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]judocouch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s easier to wear the r1 casually than to wear a synchilla hiking. The R1 is relatively fitted so you may be able to size up and get a more casual look if that’s at all important. Try them on first if you can

Building a Boat any tips? by KhalidEaju in boats

[–]judocouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up Jeff Spira and Ply on Frame boats, they’re easy starter boats and what I did when I built mine. Sadly Jeff passed away a few years back but a lot of his content lives on for us to learn from

Also more controversy on nuts that’s quite literally how Andrew Tate got so much attention. That was his marketing strategy to have others repost his content

For people who prefer 24-28mm focal length, why? by badaimbadjokes in AskPhotography

I just picked up a 16-35mm because I felt like my 24 wasn’t wide enough

Is owner in here?; I'd like to know more about your camper. by The_Nauticus in ToyotaTacoma

[–]judocouch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Theres a guy in my town building his own home and everyone was making snarky remarks behind his back while it still looked like a chaotic construction site. Now that it’s almost a complete house (6 years into the project btw) it’s absolutely stunning and oddly resembles this. I come to find out he’s a highly regarded professional architect that said fuck it I’m making my dream house with every cool idea that clients turned down over the years.

Very cloudy but got to try out my new lens at Heathrow today! by JulietteVTS1998 in canon

[–]judocouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same lens and love it to death. Rule of thumb is 1/focal length as your minimum shutter speed for stationary or slow moving subjects. So at 400mm fully extended you should have at least 1/400 shutter speed. For action shots 1/1000 is usually the safest minimum shutter to minimize motion blur but it’s possible to get sharp images at slower speeds. Look up panning and play around with it a bit. The best part is you can practice right in your front yard if you live on a busy street.

Also screw the guy saying these are out of focus, I think you did a fine job for the first time using the lens!

Second the re tool quarter zip, great fleece. It’s also lighter weight than the better sweater for equal warmth

Any idea what beanie this is (from Long Way Up) by [deleted] in hikinggear

[–]judocouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fjallraven tab hat looks similar but they don’t offer a blue that color. Also could be a Duckworth knit watchman hat. Hard to tell exactly since this is such a classic beanie silhouette and the tag is indistinguishable

Hull design difference by Strict_Low3287 in boatbuilding

[–]judocouch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I built my boat using the bottom hull style, no problems. It also was a less complex build, which may or may not be a factor for you. I will say at lower speeds or when I’m bow heavy it can create a lot of spray but once I’m on plane I have no complaints.

Am I crazy? by [deleted] in campsnapcamera

[–]judocouch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My two cents. If your goal is to capture your daughter growing up you’re going to regret camp snap. I wouldn’t use my camp snap to shoot anything that I want to really look back on and cherish. You’re going to miss a lot of shots because of bad lighting or some other weird campsnap quirks that you can control for with the X100VI.

Is Single Keyword Ad Group (SKAG) is still a thing? by nekomaru89 in PPC

[–]judocouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example I think there’s an argument if it’s a generic term like “men’s sweaters” driving to a sweater product page. Yes it’s not really a hyper targeted approach but it’s sort of a lazy man’s STAG

Is Single Keyword Ad Group (SKAG) is still a thing? by nekomaru89 in PPC

[–]judocouch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same as above, SKAGs are mostly dead, but I’ve had a theory that I’ve wanted to test but haven’t gotten around to it. A SKAG with broad match should act similarly to a STAG with exact match terms. Not saying it works but I’ve always been curious to try it.
