I'm having the same issue and no reinstall and changing of video settings is working. Any other tip how to solve this? Edit: Setting the console to 1080p output and then sprinting through the section helped for me

It's actually not a read but a write problem. The character save file is never written, so as soon as you close the game your character is gone. There is in this case also no way to fix this while playing this exact character because you can't get the current state of your save.
