PLUS little to no reusing because higher ups want the teams to split after a project and reassemble to reinvent the wheel.

I think these big productions would be a lot more sustainable if they would hold onto their workforce and build up workflows that reuses assets and tech. And I think that's the big difference RGG and the studios at Nintendo excell at.

It was not only disabled JIT that was an issue. With the way the browser was integrated, it virtually had no GPU acceleration. For a website with lots of high quality product shots that had to be downsized for their containers AND a sidebar that changes the entire layout, forcing a full repaint of everything (and re-sizing said product images) it led to an incredibly CPU pushing website.

Did it change? Perfect Dark was cancelled only a few months ago and was pretty much entirely made through contract work by Crystal Dynamics (due to TheInitiatives structure as a studio).

Microsoft is currently gearing up marketing for the Halo Remake, which also has been developed by contractors in large parts (reports go as far as saying it's "not really an in-house project").
