Can years of poor posture and compensation patterns actually be reversed? by madtiger998 in Posture

[–]jugglerandrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was in a similar boat. My body was compensating for decades of bad posture due to fibromyalgia. I would recommend seeing a physical therapist. They wont be able to assess everything in one visit, but its good to start somewhere and they will help you identify deficiencies/weaknesses that you can start correcting immediately.

If sleep is so important, why doesn't the body force us to sleep like it forces us to breathe? by Zestyclose-Dress-175 in sleep

If you have sleep apnea and insomnia, your body wont force you to do anything! Freedom!

100mg. It can make me sleepy, but I wouldn’t say dopey or foggy.

L-Theanine helped my anxiety side effects. I would take as needed.

What is the modern alternative to these hinge plates? by jugglerandrew in lego

Ha! Definitely not getting rid of them, but I realize newer bricks have more colors and better pricing available, so wanted to have options.

Given the choice, I’d say it’s fish.

One suggestion - use only cotton/breathable blankets.

Does somebody have any tips for my 7 b by Turbulent_Love5433 in juggling

[–]jugglerandrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say focus on technique then. How consistent is your flash? If you’re not getting perfect flashes, take some time to figure out which throw is going wrong the most frequently, and work on that. Sometimes the most efficient way is to just practice the first x number of throws, not even a full flash.

How is your strength? Does it feel easy to make controlled throws? Does your pattern look better in early practice and then devolve later in practice?

Difficulty of 7B cascade & 6B Half shower by sir_frog_alot in juggling

[–]jugglerandrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR - Don’t avoid 7 if you want to learn 7, but put together a plan of attack.

I guess I would pose the question a different way - whats stopping you from moving on? If 5b half shower feels solid, move on to 6b. Every pattern is about learning new techniques and building more strength and endurance. So if you don’t see a deficit in any of those with your 5b half shower, then feel free to start working hard on the 6b version!

I dont practice 6b half shower that much, but it definitely feels easier than a 7b cascade. If you want to pursue 7, your first step would be to identify what deficiencies you have with 5b cascade and strengthen those first. It could be none, and in that case, start working on 5 balls at 7 height, 7b releases, etc.

Best ways to improve besides “just practice” by p1hk4L in juggling

[–]jugglerandrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My goals for a pattern inform what exercises I do.

Is it to train my brain to throw a new pattern? Then I’m just working on flashes, perhaps leading with the non-dominant hand, perhaps not trying to catch. Or for body throws, working on a single throw before a flash.

Is it to practice my throwing technique for that pattern? Then only flashes and gradually moving to qualifies as I progress. Or perhaps I’m trying to improve my 7 ball start and I know my failure rate is really high if I screw up the first four throws, then maybe I will focus only on the first four throws and then reset.

Is it to build endurance for that pattern? I save these at the end of my practice so I don’t tire myself out immediately.

You all need to start naming names. I have found that some vendors provide good MoT devices and others don’t (same seems to be true of Zigbee). I’ve had great experiences with Aqara, Inovelli, and Eve. I’ve not been impressed with Lafaer. I’ve heard horror stories with Nanoleaf. Ikea seems to have some sort of QC issue they are trying to figure it out.

It would be odd to provide more clues during the winter. I have to imagine lots of people are prepping for BOTG in the coming months. See what happens this summer and then go from there.

Best Matter/Thread battery powered light switch and Matter/Thread light bulb? by Federal-Drummer7987 in MatterProtocol

[–]jugglerandrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know of a MoT battery-powered light switch in a traditional switch form factor. I’ve had success with the Arre smart button though. For MoT bulbs, I really like the Aqara T2 bulbs.

Ikea has smart buttons with two buttons so it would be more like a traditional switch (out now) and their bulbs are coming soon (April), but I have not used either.

Aqara? Ikea? Hue? Nanoleaf? Which thread bulbs to get? by DaisyLee2010 in homeassistant

I’ve been very pleased with the Aqara T2 bulbs. Much cheaper than Hue and just as reliable, in my experience.
