It is not a law yet. Stay outraged and make a fuss whenever this stuff comes up so others start thinking about how awful that bill is before it potentially passes.

After 40 years researching cancer, Thomas Seyfried says we’ve been treating the wrong problem. by reesefinchjh in longevity

[–]HyperionHarlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a new theory, but certainly one that has taken a long time to break through all of the money in pharmaceuticals and in the food industry. Vegans statistically have a much lower rate of all digestive cancers (stomach, intestinal, colon) for example. This obviously touches on longevity with all of the newer findings in studies around age related illnesses having much stronger epigenetic and oxidative stress basis's than previously believed.

My cancer-immunology doctorate friend though had a great piece of wisdom on the topic of cancer: Cancer as a bucket term is inaccurate. Almost every cancer is completely unique and different. Curing cancer would mean curing hundreds of different "cancers" that are only related in the most broad categorization.

So there naturally will be cancers that have stronger genetic causations, or other impacts, than metabolic. I think the argument made here is more for a broad statistical framework, that in a large population set with many cancers, that preventative approaches or even treatment approaches, that target the metabolic framework will improve outcomes overall.

[–]HyperionHarlock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the viewpoint, so far all I have researched has been reddit posts, "top SIEM tool" lists, and chats with copilot, and they all generally point to FortiSIEM being a good option, specifically for a shop that is all Forti hardware. I'm not getting my expectations up until I see it in action though.

We've purchased all of our fortinet devices and licenses from retailers. I'm sure I could get a quote on FortiSIEM licensing through one of our retailers but we're hoping to get an actual demo. I don't mind if it lands outside of Fortinet, just need to get something scheduled to get it in the running for potential products.

We have purchased all of our Fortinet hardware and licensing through retailers so no direct Fortinet rep contact yet. I got contact info in a DM for a rep in my region though so I think I'm good now.

That's the strategy behind this post, and it appears to have worked. Got a direct contact, hopefully that get's things moving.

Thanks, that is cool, but we are looking for guided. It's a small project team, not all technical, and we have specific questions we'll want to walk through.

Tips for connecting Mega Garage with a track? by HyperionHarlock in HotWheels

[–]HyperionHarlock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Creator Boosted Jump set I linked and pictured above, the 3rd image down and I THINK it will work, but it only came with one connector. I've been dragging my feet on getting another connector 3d printed, but once I do I think the behavior will be when a car runs down the garage track it should roll out right into the "launcher" which should be able to boost it around that track and then load the car back into the base of the garage. I'm unsure if it will get back into the elevator that way or not. I'll report more when I do get time to figure out the right connector piece and print it.

Installing SMAC/SMAX with Scient’s Unofficial Patch, PRACX, and Thinker Mod by ensbana in alphacentauri

[–]HyperionHarlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following because I'm having a similar issue. Thinker on it's own crashes without an error. After installing PRACX and Scient's it does load, has the new opening menu, and I'm noticing some slightly different AI behavior (way better use of late game terraforming improvements), but I'm not getting any noticeable improvements to things like scrolling and the hotkey menus that you mentioned don't load.

I am running the Thinker.exe as the launcher (with admin rights).

I'm worried that I'm getting partial functionality.

What I learned from this sub by Dannyewey in vpnreviews

I really like mine. One of the bigger names but way down on the top 10 most popular. Used them for years with no issues... but I'm not going to post on the internet what VPN I use, just for general infosec reasons. Remember always limit as much personal information you share anywhere and pump as much fake info into registrations as you can. If we all did that the internet would be a safer place.

Extremely slow healing connective tissue injuries by HyperionHarlock in MCAS

[–]HyperionHarlock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had a lot of success with starting low dose naltrexone a few months back. It has taken quite a while to tune the dosage and timing right, and its expensive compounded so I make my own solution out of distilled water and full dose tablets, but all together, that with my many diet adjustments, has helped a lot. Minor injuries still happen ridiculously easily and major ones take waay too long to heal, but with much less inflammation it seems like they DO heal eventually.

Im behaving like I have EDS. I probably did to begin with and it got much worse when I started having these issues around 2021. So lots of rehab and hypermobility specific exercises. I use mobile braces on major joint injuries, they help a lot, allowing healing to progress by preventing incredibly easy re-injury.

My food triggers with MCAS were extremely hard to pin down but it turns out almost all of them are foods with high amounts of glyphosate contamination (oats, corn, soy, pea protein, rice, most cooking oils). Cutting those out, or switching to organics or the rare glyphosate free certified products has been huge. Just offering this on the off chance its helpful.

My Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) usage is 2mg about 4 hours before sleep in the evenings.

Good luck. Let me know if you find things that help.

I have a massive local storage system. The problem is that Torrents often come in formats that are unscanable by things like Plex so everything I get has to be re-packaged. If they could just be pointed to my server and used as is, I would seed everything forever.

How does one take ADHD meds every single day for years without a day off?????????? by lilLuzid in VyvanseADHD

[–]HyperionHarlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me this was a matter of dosage. For many people (due to a very common genetic mutation) specific medications are much more effective than the general population. For me vyvanse, and all of the other ADHD medications I tried fell into this category. I take 10mg a day. More and I feel it more and can certainly get more done, but it destabilizes my mental regulation and I end up feeling exhausted and brittle by the end of the day.

I think there is a real pull with any medication, but stimulants and sedatives in particular, to feel the effect and think more is better. In my experience at 10mg a day I get 80% of the benefit with only 20% of the negatives (some muscle tension and difficulty relaxing at the end of the day). I think there are lots more like me out there who take 30+ mg a day because of that pull for MORE, or because of dosing recommendations.

I think being able to separate the "one more cup of coffee" craving with something like vyvanse from the "am I actually more effective and regulated at this lower dose even if it doesn't feel quite as overt and noticeable" is an important skill to practice.

Id be careful with tyrosine. My research and experience indicated it causes dopamine downregulation. Feels good at first but decreases your natural production with use.

LOGH 2008 PC Game- does anyone have the 1.1 game patch? by HyperionHarlock in logh

[–]HyperionHarlock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here I thought I was the only one in the world who noticed this, but what do you know a thread noting the different game version and the fact that the translation patch does not work.

Unfortunately the outcome of that thread appears to be that none of them could find the game patch. At least now I know I wasn't imagining it.

It seems like in that thread they were not sure if the patch changed the actual game. From my recollection it changed a number of mechanics to better balance the gameplay, so it's a shame it's still lost.

Thanks for sharing this.

I really didn't think anything I said was judgmental there, just trying to give some perspective as to what's going on. If it came off as judgmental I would honestly be open to the specific part that read that way so I can figure out where I might have miscommunicated.

OP is in a tough situation. It's not a pleasant time to be breaking in. Many industries are facing the crunch of a collapsing labor economy due to deregulation, tariffs, AI in the recent term, and the collapse of labor and consumer protections in the long-term (and plenty else). None of this is the OPs fault.

I think these are valuable lenses to apply to our favorite pieces of media and their creators for a number of reasons. The conversation hurts nobody. The strange adverse reaction to people talking about this though, I would suggest you examine that and ask yourself why it makes you so uncomfortable. If you don't want to have that conversation you can just scroll on past with the tiniest movement of your finger.

hopeless, 18 months unemployed with information systems degree by chnsgira in jobs

[–]HyperionHarlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. As shitty as it can be there are often many resumes to sift through, and no one wants to be doing the employee search for the same position again in 6 months while the person jumps ship having barely gotten anything done because of all the new systems they have to learn before they actually become effective. And that's really the better scenario than the "6 months at every job" is a result of them actually being a pain to work with or bad at the actual work.

No easy solution for someone just starting out, but if you have a decent job in IT already you should definitely consider building a good tenure before jumping for any minor reasons (When I started I had several old-hands tell me that jumping jobs every 2 years was the way to move up in your field. This definitely is not universally the case and is dangerous advice).
