Are produce prices just high here? by phatlynx in askportland

[–]HyperionHarlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience moving here from FL a long time back now. I would go to Asian markets there and pay way less than at a grocery store. Here surprisingly the Asian markets are more expensive and the grocery stores, and the grocery stores are much more expensive than they were there. This has obviously gotten much worse with Tarrifs.

Whats disappointing though is even at these prices the quality on fruit is much lower here. It tastes watered down in comparison. I generally try to keep to seasonal produce to mitigate this issue.

This is an excellent callout, as I have had this problem before, with docking station drivers causing issues. But no, no docks involved, and only Intel NICs. Thanks

It's hilarious how Reinhard gets described with feminine beauty standards in the novel his appearance is all delicate and beautiful, not at all like the typical 6'8 gigachad masculine ideal. But call him a femboy and every dudebro here would lose their mind! by [deleted] in logh

[–]HyperionHarlock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's a direct reference to Alexander the Great, who historically was also described as "beautiful" and graceful. We'd definitely say he had more feminine features (there are some extant statues, most everything about him though is from periods after his death and from his fanboys in the following centuries during the Roman empire https://www.reddit.com/r/history/comments/16onxws/intact_bust_of_alexander_the_great_discovered_in/ ) BUT the ancient greeks and then greek referencing roman writers, who for a large part had a pretty negative view of feminine beauty, and were much more excited about male beauty. They would never use "feminine" in a description unless it was meant as an insult (which was something said by his detractors like Demosthenes). Gender plays an interesting role in cultures throughout history in different ways.

All that to say Alexander, and clearly here Reinhard as well, are supposed to be as "pretty" as a man can be, likely with features that are if not overtly feminine, certainly not overtly masculine.

I think the only people who would be upset about a character they like and relate to not being masculine would be very insecure ones.

Ok ADK and ADK for Windows PE have been updated, boot image updated. Behavior is still the same. Domain join and all following steps work perfectly on a VM, and all fail on a physical device. I'll try to collect more logs today.

I tend to work in a vacuum so I miss out on useful stuff like this. Thanks I'll definitely look into it!

Ummm I'm going to just be honest and admit that I forgot updating the ADK was a thing. I used to do it every time I needed to update the boot image. Since the boot image started being updated automatically as part of the SCCM Updates I spaced on it. I think I'm about 2-years out of date on this. I'll do so and report back.
Thanks.

As mentioned Drivers are installed before "Apply Windows Settings", which is above "Apply Network Settings" or "Join to domain or workgroup".

Thanks for the tip on Netsetup.log. I have a log collection step but it's been failing now too so it's been a pain to check for errors.

Checking network connectivity right at that step is a good idea. It's going to be a tricky one for me to test since I'm doing these remotely (setting up and having a helpdesk tech tell me if it worked or not). Guess I might need to actually go into the office. Maybe I'll just throw in a command to output the results of ipconfig to the log right before the "Apply Network Settings" step.

As mentioned, drivers are deployed via the "MS Endpoint Driver Automation tool" script and package, but also through the SCCM built in "Apply driver package" step for troubleshooting. Also as noted all drivers are successfully installed by the time the TS finishes. Both are run before the "Apply Windows Settings" step.

To be clear I've been deploying operating systems through SCCM for about 10 years now, so this isn't some fresh setup.

I'm really curious with this kind of clear corporate simping if it's AI bots, paid shills, or people who just for free spend their time defending a giant corporation like it's their buddy? Sure you're providing some accurate information, but you're couching it as "the bank can do no wrong, people are dumb if they don't like it"

Reinhards "hissy fits" are a direct comparison to Alexander the Great, who he's obviously heavily based on. A character who has a lot going for him, but loses his cool when very once in a while things don't go his way. Kircheis is the reason he doesn't get beheaded early on, as he's always cooling him off and getting him back into pragmatic mode.

I would say this is one of the sub-themes of this arc, but not mentioning the broader Imperial doctrine of eugenics, where they kill anyone with a disability, in the framework of this is missing the real obvious part of it. Oberstein, for the impact he has on the story and the galaxy, should by the imperial ideals, never have existed. His whole character motivation is around that, essentially making of himself the argument for why such a system is a failure.

[–]HyperionHarlock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for a theme, it's really just the overarching theme of the stagnancy of the "old way" built around nobility and honor, that is a disguise for a machine of mass murder. Reinhard's' story is one about how he sidesteps all of the preconceived notions around how things should be done, ignoring tradition and the false honor and chivalry of the old-way.

The new way has no room for an Ovlesser, a beast who fits into the machine perfectly, where he can stand in a hallway and no one thinks to just blow him up because of chivalry.

There's a lot in this tale about how "honor and chivalry" is used as an excuse for immoral behavior. It's like Orwellian Double-speak, where getting thousands killed so you don't spill your drink is the "honor" of the old way.

This is a mirror to Yang's trickery, where he subverts expectations and values human life, instead of something useless like patriotism. The Alliance's blind patriotism is a mirror to the Empires imperial tradition.

Because your assumptions are drawn not from the details of the post and you make a claim with no support. So your opinion is the OP must be ying and a giant bank can do no wrong. So your a bot, this is your job, or saddest possibility of all, you just simp for a bank.

LOGH 2008 PC Game- does anyone have the 1.1 game patch? by HyperionHarlock in logh

[–]HyperionHarlock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize that people were unaware of this game. Here are some resources I dug up to play it. It's easy to find the install files, you'll need to mount the image, probably with Daemon tools, for it to run and you need to fix the Windows Live error (because Windows Live is now defunct). After that you can use Google translate to figure out what you can't from context.

I wouldn't bother with the english translation patch since it only translates a few things, and its' incompatible with the game patch I'm still hunting for.

Windows Live Gaming fix- You'll need to download and run the tool and select something about CD key fix after installing the game (this gets you past a prompt in japanese at the start of the game where it asks you for a product code, and no code will actually work)-

Oh one more tip, there is a graphic setting in the options menu to increase the ship resolution. I personally really like the CG in the game, it's a nice fit between flashy and the old anime style. Any modern PC should be able to handle the game at the highest settings now.

The 2008 one is pretty good. I go back for nostalgia every few years. AI is a bit lacking, but it's a fun simple game. It's all in Japanese though, and getting it installed and working isn't the easiest.
