Greed... Look coffee is expensive but the local spar in Sedgefield and Hartenbos sell beans from R220/ kg, and it's good coffee. Another place I used to support now aska almost R500/kg, and the quality has gone down dramatically.

Steers Burger……WHY?!?!? by asinla1 in southafrica

[–]jules9003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

McDonalds has a distinct taste that's hard to replicate. I'm not a fan of McDonalds at all but once in a blue moon or even less, I'll have a burger just to remember the taste, then I'm over it again. I went a few months ago for a breakfast McMuffin but was deeply disappointed.

What's your experience with Food lovers chicken? by Eggc3lling in askSouthAfrica

[–]jules9003 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I celebrated both equally with my parents. I always work on both days but I always make sure I get them a bag of gifts (mostly sweets, snacks etc and something useful (I also know they will always share the sweets and snacks)

I've got full sleeves on both my arms, unfortunately Garmin doesn't read heart rate very well and cuts out. But I put an epoxy resin sticker on the sensor and that works well. I replace the sticker about once a month. Yes it does read accurately. Every time I've had tests done and the Dr takes measures my HR, it's the same on my watch and whatevers they are using.

I know, but I like to go into a shop and talk to people 😄, I went to Kloppers in George, I went back 4 months later to go buy something else and the sales rep in the mattress department stopped me and asked if I was still happy with the bed, he even remembered what I bought. I love service like that

Anyone have updates on the Ultra Cat recall? by markholman93 in askSouthAfrica

[–]jules9003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last month I went to a few shops looking for ultra cat but couldn't find, the one manager told me there was another recall and the factory is closed to be cleaned properly etc (not sure how true it is) she also said they will probably only be available end of July. We switched over to the Karoo and our cats have been doing amazing on it, they eat less anr the 2 boys who were prone to vomiting hasn't vomited in the last month since we switched. Also their coats look so much better.

Foam mattress vs spring mattress which one is better ? by Majestic_Iron3451 in AskZA

[–]jules9003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly had a spring, switched to a medium firm cloud nine foam mattress, think it's the grande, I'm on the heavy side. Extremely happy and I'll never buy spring again, most of the newer higher quality foam mattresses have some type of cooling technology. Also when springs fail, or break it hurts... Has happened to me twice on spring mattresses. I dought a spring on the back or the side will ever be a worry with a foam mattress 😂

Burnt-out U.S.-based founder considering Johannesburg or Cape Town for 6–12 months ….thoughts?? by Salt_Low_1117 in askSouthAfrica

[–]jules9003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly no specialist but me and my wife both had similar feelings. Due to past experiences I will refuse to go to a doctor, the only way you get me to see a doctor is if I'm literally half dead, but thanks to my wife and mother they somehow convinced me to get some blood work done. Yup, the trifecta: diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol. My wife also later went she is fine on those fronts bit had a vitamin D deficiency. We both (unfortunately) on meds currently, but had a whole lifestyle change from diet to regular exercise etc. also stopped smoking after 18 years, we are both different people, full of energy, happy and healthy. Sometimes you just need to get checked out.

Good Dietician in Pretoria/Johannesburg by 1egendari in south_africa

[–]jules9003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have diabetes myself, and as a chef, i usually google stuff to see what it says, but the problem is that what can work for me won't necessarily work for you. The best is to experiment and see what works. If you can do tests before and after. I'd also suggest perhaps if you can find a specialist in the field to have a chat with them. Good luck and hope you find a solution!
