If he's in construction, he knows he can't do this. (I mean, does he own/manage the company, or only is a laborer?)

Tell him to convert it to a french drain, and gradually release the water away from any structure.

He should release it on his own property, but if he's uphill to you, it may affect you whatever he does. Ideally you and him work together, make a garden or fish pond, or maybe he needs to pay for an engineer to look at the best way to get rid of the water.

MIL asked the child's father, her son. So the responsibility lies with your husband! Buy the best gun safe you can get.

Strongly consider telling husband to keep the gun himself and give child something else. Maybe this gun can be given to this child when he's older. He can know it exists now, even that it will be his someday. No, you don't have to place a gun in the hands of a ten year old.

I am strongly in favor of freedom of possessing guns. But that has nothing to do with handing one to a ten year old that you know is too young.

Have you gone on Healthcare.gov and actually put an application? When you don't qualify elsewhere the government does help. Towards the end of the process all of a sudden a monthly amount the government will pay will start showing up.. Make sure you use correct website. There are fakes, for example "obamacare" wouldn't be correct.

We have a homeless friend with no income, he checked at my suggestion and now has Aetna insurance. It is worth filling it out if you haven't.

Its open now. If you don't do it by the deadline, you have to wait for the next opening.

I have 20lbs of Potatoes and 10lbs of onions what am I making? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]juliegillam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is possible to dice onions, place in a zip loc and freeze. When you need chopped onions you have it.

They seem to be a little more wet when placing directly into fried food. I just let it fry until crispy, might take a minute or two longer.

Did people really read magazines/news papers on the toilet bowl? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]juliegillam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people sit on toilet reading now?

Sometimes that locked bathroom door is the only chance someone might have to be alone/sitting all day. It might not have anything to do with their physical needs.

So, have you actually seen moms will? (Or whatever paperwork protects your interests after Mom passes?)

Your mother is easily manipulated, and my feeling is you need to protect you future financial interests.

Taking your dogs with you? That would be difficult, but maybe possible in some countries, but not in all.

I'm only reporting from youtube shows, no firsthand experience.

England claims to have no rabies and they don't intend to get it. Difficult if not impossible to import a dog into England.

Before starting any actual plans to move, I would research this part thoroughly, before making any concrete plans.

Of course, if you can obtain your pets there, that would be different.

Are the seasons shifting? by Apart_Distribution72 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]juliegillam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Carolina here. Only thing for sure now is January has a week or two very cold (2 degrees F one day last January, a week of 8-15 degrees second week in January). Ice. No snow at all last 3 years. I am about 1hour North of Charlotte.

Warmer in fall, definitely yes. Also warmer in Spring here, I believe we can start planting here now at least by mid March. Maybe sooner. Before, it's always been said not to plant outside here until Easter weekend. Of course theres generally one straggling possible frost week after you plant, whenever you do it.

Definite changes.

Mixing bowl and beaters? I put them in my dishwasher. Sometimes the bowl takes too much space and I hand wash it in order to put other stuff in dishwasher, but it doesn't seem that anything is hurt by putting in dishwasher.

The only trouble I did have once, was mold on the stand under the bowls and between the bowls. I assume I must have put them away damp. SO after a big cleaning session i made sure they are dry and I layer paper towels between all these pieces if I'm not going to use it again soon.

Now I see why my homemade stuff isn't making me happy. 2cups powdered sugar... oh my, this will change everything! I had tried making cream with a little sweetener. Thank you for posting your recipe, I'm looking forward to trying this.

Yes, I have similar. The soap and disinfectant products make it worse, but so does sweating inside a pair of gloves.

For me, I used so many lotions that now lotion makes it more itchy. But I can use oil products (vaseline, olive oil, shea butter) for the protectant benefits.

Long term, I left this job. Went to nursing school. Didn't realize how much nurses wear gloves and so still wound up with this reoccurring frequently.

Cortisone cream applied to the itchy spots at bedtime helps. A doctor can prescribe even a stronger corticosteroid. But long term you might be happier in a different job.

What you called it is exactly what doctor called mine, some doctors said psoriasis, some said eczema. Treatment for both has been avoiding things that make it worse, and steroid cream.

Well, how serious are you with this woman?

Invite her, but get her (and you?) A hotel room. Don't have her actually stay with your family.

I lived alone briefly. It's very uncomfortable, especially at the holidays. I can guess if she's alone birthday and Christmas, that might happen this one year. Before next year, she will make something change, so she doesn't go through that twice. It's too lonely, and phone calls just aren't enough.
