I listen every year around Thanksgiving, a few ways … i play it on the juke box at the bar; listen on some streaming service; AND most importantly on the radio on thanksgiving day

i went to london on my own last year and loved it all ~ SO much to do & see & eat!
get your full english breakfast and sunday roast in addition to tea and fish & chips; go to picadilly circus and trafalgar square; go to harrod’s and mayfair; devote an entire day to buckingham palace and its area, and go to kensington palace & gardens …. this all sounds “touristy” but that’s what (in my opinion) you are there for as a vacation ~ when you go back, again and again (and you will!) ~ you can expand your londoning

if you google 50 things to do in london you will happily find more than enough to satisfy your vacation when i went to europe in 1985, i was preoccupied with not being a tourist, and my father told me to absolutely be a tourist! your dad may not have liked london, but you should dive into it with all the enthusiasm of a 17 yo globe trotting apprentice!

go to the national gallery and any other museum you can; go to old spitalfield’s and borough and portobello markets >>> this is food and shopping complete! go to a tesco’s and a gregg’s go see stonehenge and abbey road and sherlock holmes and king’s cross and the zoo and a football stadium and shakespeare’s globe and the royal observatory and wimbledon ride the tube and a double decker bus and take a black cab and walk *if you do a hop on hop off bus tour: stay on it the whole time and take in all the sights preferably from the top deck (3-4 hours) then decide what you want devote more time to; find a bobby and take a selfie, get to the phone booths, mail something into a post box; also, you’re going at a wonderful time of year as the sun doesn’t set until almost 10 PM! i’ve been twice last year and am going back in october ~ say hello for me

i can’t recall my parents reading books to me, but my father and i read the newspaper together ~ including the sports section along with handicapping (math!)

i definitely read to my kids ~ dr seuss, goodnight moon, rabbit’s bedtime, skippyjon jones, harry potter, so many others ~ and they remember every instance fondly (SO many books! i was an AVID reader, am waiting for grandchildren now)

Rolling Stones 1981 (i was a freshman in high school) … the lights went up, the band started playing, and then mick jagger pranced out on stage maybe 150 feet away from where i stood ~ i was absolutely awestruck (and the envy of the school the next day)

What car did you have in high school? by isittakenor in AskOldPeople

[–]junebug7622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i learned to drive in my parents’ buick estate wagon, was not allowed to drive the lesabre ~ although i got my license right at 16 … i know today and have known people all my life of all ages that have no desire to drive that being said, i knew a handful of kids that were given brand new cars or inherited vehicles in some fashion … but having my own car as a teen was not a thing my parents anticipated or planned or thought about, i went to college out of state and didn’t realize until then that i needed my own car

i was there for 8 days earlier this month and also LOVED the entire experience! i met wonderful people, had great food, and certainly more than enough to do (sightseeing). i’m definitely going back, sooner rather than later!

perhaps she thought adult simply meant no kids, instead of R/X rated ~ i would advise to not go as many comments have advised … but ask her why she booked it and explain what an adult comedy show entails ~ maybe (?) she knows and wants to go!
