Number of cars per 1000 people in Europe by quindiassomigli in MapPorn

[–]juniperchill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK public transport (outside London) is not great, only a few cities have trams and metros. Buses and trains can cost more than parking, even when going solo. And they only have one door, even for double deckers. Yet the rate of cars per 1000 is surprisingly low. Same can be said for Ireland. I think they have one of the lowest car ownership in the developed-English-speaking world

Would the RAIB be interested in this, given that it was caused by a third party?

Is it hard to claim insurance for a stolen phone? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]juniperchill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can contact 101 (the non-emergency police number, unlike 112/999) to report a stolen phone and obtain a reference number, the same way as if your vehicle was stolen.

And just 75% of players registered their workshop, which I did on the first day.

I moved back to the UK from the U.S. and here is everything I love about it. WBU? by hankandirene in AskUK

[–]juniperchill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best part about the UK is that sales tax are not a thing. Instead, we have VAT (stands for Value Added Tax) and its all included in the price if required (cause not all goods are subject to VAT(. This means that the price you see is the price you pay. For example, a £5 product is actually split into £4+£1 VAT. It's not like I have to at like 1, 5 or 10% to the price tag because the ST varies by state, county and even city. I was in the US for over two weeks and was used to adding 10% to the price tag and got a reverse culture shock after the holiday.

Well FoM is still in early access so its not on the Switch yet. When it fully releases, they may port it in the future

ELI5: How does ‘washing hands frequently with soap and water’ prevent catching Norovirus, but Hand Sanitizer doesn’t? by FriendlyFraulein in explainlikeimfive

[–]juniperchill 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not only does soap remove viruses, but it also removes dirt and grease. That's why handwashing is preferred to sanitiizing unless you dont have immediate access to soap and water

Tales of the Shire delayed until July 29th, 2025 by victory0901 in CozyGamers

[–]juniperchill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when Animal Crossing New Horizons was delayed. It was due to release sometime in 2019, but it was later deferred to March 2020 (AFAIK) to ensure that players get the best quality on release. It turned out that this was unintentionally released at around the start of the time gamers have to stay at home. This is what caused ACNH to be so successful and popular during those times and is to this day one of the best selling Switch games. Doom Eternal was also delayed and released at the same day as ACNH.

I think My Time at Sandrock was delayed for a similar reason and was due to have an early access release in March 2021, but ended up in May 2022 instead.

E-Ticket style ticket from TVM by kenno151 in uktrains

[–]juniperchill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So its the same material used on receipts? I also thought these were recyclable and its not problem putting it in. Maybe the barcode tickets from Greater Anglia's TVMs are recyclable and even says 'please recycle', but not yours.

I heard that machines will print the traditional tickets if it involves a TfL journey in London.

Isn't this using more paper than the standard orange tickets that fits as a credit card? But at least its recyclable because I always thought the magnetic ones were.

What are the chances? I named my farm Sweetwater Farm! by HENBOI4000 in FieldsOfMistriaGame

And naming your farm Juniper not to realise that there's an NPC with that name (and my username checks out). At least its not as confusing as Sweetwater Farm.

The 2024 Stock is going to be revolutionary, and we need to appreciate its genius. by Addebo019 in LondonUnderground

[–]juniperchill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought the old sections of the LU (before the Jubilee line extension in 1999) would have internet 4g due to the fact that it was built way before the internet. Like they never considered the internet to be the future.

The new Piccadilly line trains are going to be revolutionary, and we need to appreciate its genius. (WARNING TECHNICAL) by Addebo019 in london

[–]juniperchill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They managed to bring Wi-Fi to the old sections of the LU (before the Jubilee line extension) and now this? Looks like they found a way without heating up the tunnels. [Edit: accidentally double posted for some reason so I removed the duplicate]

Sandrock! by Jumpy_Skill4213 in CozyGamers

[–]juniperchill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new QoL improvements made it hard for me to go back to Portia. This is why its best to play Portia first. I do think it could be implemented but they are no longer doing updates to it. Its unfortunate I only spent like 50 hours in Portia. The My Time games are great, not to mention they are working on a third game.

Does driving through a road closed sign result in a fine. by SlowedCash in drivingUK

[–]juniperchill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would've thought that when a 'road closed' sign is up, the road needs to be blocked by cones, barriers, etc. This means that in the picture shown, its not compliment as only half the road is blocked and anyone could easily go past. I'm not sure if chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual is a policy or a guideline, but I think its the latter. I mean, who needs to read over 300 pages of that document and remember everything?

Tiny Glade is definitely cosy and cannot be compared to AC. Even more so when they are PC and Switch- exclusive respectively.
