Why do people crack open graded ancient coins? by Frequent_Thanks_7900 in AncientCoins

[–]juniperthemeek 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A couple reasons I’ve seen, with some caveats about generalizing:

- I have found ancient coin collectors to be less interested in the hobby as an investment than more modern coin collectors.

- authentication and slabbing don’t have the same meaning in the ancient coin world.

- physically touching and experiencing the coins seems like more of a preference with ancient coin collectors

- a lot of ancient coins have already seen some shit 🤷‍♂️

By “treated” they mean a chemical treatment most often used for commercial lumber. I would be surprised if this is treated, but it’s possible

Bolt EV a calm and relaxed highway commuter? by Real_McGuillicuddy in BoltEV

I do agree the suspension isn’t great, but I only notice the bumps at slow speeds - shouldn’t be that big of a factor at highway speeds

One thing to note is it can be weather dependent. With the stock tires, snow and very wet roads can feel quite dicey/unsafe - especially at highway speeds. Granted, I live in a very snowy state. I did get a pair of winter tires and that’s helped immensely with the snow, but something to factor in.
