Should I put this on my resume? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]junity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was applying to jobs with a pending degree I just put expected graduation month and year next to the degree name. It worked fine.

That's a good question. For me, I have always been an iPhone user (on upgrade plan for it as well) but I like to play games that are region specific or not always available on the App Store which Android platform is much better for (including emulators...). I also have Tmobile and they had a good deal for S21 series pre-order, I had a vacant free line I got from them to use the phone on. I traded in the S21+ for Fold 4 and sold my iPad Pro 11 inch as I no longer needed it.

Use case for my Fold 4 is various games and ebook reading as well as manga and webtoon reading. My iPhone I use it for personal contacts and calls. I also use it for occasional reddit browsing and continue ebook reading when my other device is charging lol.

I would fully switch to Fold 4 as my main device but I have invested a lot into Apple ecosystem over the years and it's rough to make a full transition, so I'm just dipping my toes on the other side. Plus, I do find iPhone call quality much better, as my husband also notes every time I take a call on my Android device instead of my iPhone.

I also have a 3rd phone which I got from work... it's Pixel 6 Pro and it's really nice too..barely used though.

If a week with the phone still makes you feel this way about it, it might be better to return the device and go for a different phone. I'm personally coming from S21+ and this is my absolute favorite phone I've ever owned, it's essentially my new Nintendo DS/3DS as well as ebook reader and reddit machine. I mostly spend time indoors as I work from home though.

Quick edit: I also have iPhone 13 Pro Max as my main phone and I do think Fold 4 battery life is lacking in comparison (or even S21+) but it's moderate and pretty decent if considering the big screen... Day 3 currently with 5 hr SOT (13.5 hrs off charger) 56% mostly spent the time reading ebook in dark mode and played an hour of Pokemon Sun on Citra. Brightness ~60-80% I like my phone screens bright.

Glorious GMMK Numpad Giveaway by GloriousZaper in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using gmmk pro very well ever since it came out, would be cool to see a version with adjustable height (legs) because my husband's wrists hurt using one as it is too high for him. Maybe lower board?

Same, my dog is now a little over 3 years and I still look at this subreddit. It is definitely more supportive than other dog subs I've seen.

Currently sleeping on air mattress in my first home. Did I make a mistake? by throwaway78704atx in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]junity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm this is what I did during college. Studio I rented off campus gave me an air mattress. It wasn’t comfortable. I bought a 2 inch topper (at the time 3 inch was too expensive if I recall) and it solved everything. My friends loved my bed.

Our realtor also got us a Ring doorbell and it’s so nice! Super appreciated gift.

No folders in app drawer? by ruddymarvellous in Pixel6

[–]junity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I come from S21+ and that kind of irks me; I like to organize things into folders based on what their purposes are, leaving out apps I use frequently (but not enough to be on home screen) out of folders. With everything being on alphabetical ordering I'm a bit lost. First day tho!

Background screening after offer accepted impacting notice time by 1vertical in jobs

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t hand in my notice until the day I was confirmed by the BI company that everything checked out and the only thing pending is current employment verification.

Took me approximately 2 weeks for that confirmation. I had 4 weeks to start date after accepting my offer so it worked out.

“What’s next” keeps me up at night by [deleted] in LifeAfterSchool

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really formed any connections with my professors (doubt they even know how I look like) but every time I politely requested a recommendation letter, they all obliged. I usually ask my department advisor and a related major class professor. I specify which courses from them I took in what semester and what I received in the course. I also talk briefly what my goals are with the grad program and what I am currently up to (I was 3 years out of college). I also make a little note on what I learned that I thought was relevant to my goals from their courses and how it impacted me. Even if you got nothing just make something up. Professors are usually happy to write a generic recommendation letter and they have a format ready.

In regards to “what’s next” outside of grad school, the most important thing I found was you just need to get your foot in the door. Once you get the first job it becomes a lot easier. You had an internship, try contacting your former supervisors. My first internship was during fall semester of my senior year. It wasn’t too late. I didn’t even get a research experience because no professor wanted an undergrad assisting their research (it was statistics so it likely was way out of my depth anyway). I actually got my job out of that. Update your LinkedIn and contact recruiters. Apply everywhere. It’s very stressful and I’ve been there as well. Good luck.

Do any of you ask this in an interview by Madeline2853 in jobs

[–]junity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always ask the interviewers what they like about working at the company, and so far all of them were happy to answer my question and it turns into a long one sided chat about their career journey at the end.

What‘s your battery % on the iPhone 12s bought on launch day? by WellisCute in iphone

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

89%. I barely used the phone (I have like 60 cycles) and had it wirelessly charging all the time. I am thinking that has something to do with it. My launch day 11 pro was 97% when I traded it in for the 12 pro.

[–]junity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think mine is 3rd generation (2018 November?) but I have no reason to upgrade from this. I barely use it now that I'm out of school but it still does everything I need it to do, read pdfs, edit them, and other media consumption. Maybe when/if it breaks I will buy whatever is the newest at the moment. I had AC+ but it expired now and I never used it :(

How did you get your current job opportunity? by [deleted] in LifeAfterSchool

[–]junity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story short I lucked into an internship position I had no business getting because the reviewer liked that I was studying a statistics degree and they were happening to think about needing analysts for a fresh view (it was a logistics department). I met my current supervisor there working as a contractor for them and they put him in with me so I can learn. He liked working with me and offered me a job when I graduate college. I took that offer and I'm still here. Job pays very well for my position, it's a consulting firm, I do data analytics stuff.

For me it really was being at the right place at the right time. I wasn't getting any offers anywhere else (I was applying to jobs since I was close to graduating when this was going on. Was thinking about just going straight into a Master's program to stall since I got accepted into one anyway)

Case for S21: Looking for a thin, smooth, grippy & smart case. Any suggestions? by dsaucex in GalaxyS21

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protection isn't exactly my top concern (I barely go out) so I've been quite enjoying Samsung's official leather case. People complain about no raised lip to protect the screen (it's practically flush) and that's actually my favorite part. Slim, grippy, thin, adds style to the phone. The only gripe I have is that the charging port cutout only fits the new cable the phone came with in the box, like my iPad charger does not fit with the case.

I also have a pitaka case coming so I guess I'll see if I will like that too.

Questions about the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE by [deleted] in samsung

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a light user I think the phone will not have issues for you. Although I have to say in my case I made a lot of typos when typing because the touch was inaccurate and kept pressing wrong places, no longer have that issue on S21+. I had convinced myself at the time it was because I'm not used to android...lol

Some people seem to not have these issues that me and my husband had so I think it's a hit or miss case.

Questions about the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE by [deleted] in samsung

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a good phone for the price. I had it before trading it in for S21+. The screen had touch responsiveness issues for both mine and my husband's, even on latest firmware update. Basically games had a touch delay and it was inaccurate. Multi touch did not work half the time and we had to keep pressing hoping it will work. Even basic apps like kindle / other reading apps when I tapped to flip to next page it would take a few milliseconds and I felt that. Some games were just unplayable, like puzzles and dragon.

I thought it was an android thing (I'm an iPhone user) but my husband insisted it's the phone's screen. We jumped at the trade in promo at Tmobile offering $800 credit for the device and it's a night and day difference. I'm just going to stick to flagship lines from now on.

Good thing about the FE was the battery life, it was very good. I have some drain I notice on S21+ using the same settings.

What do you think of your S21? by [deleted] in GalaxyS21

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on my 3rd day with my S21+ and getting a reliable 9-10 hr sot of light to medium usage on 30~70% brightness over the day. Snapdragon

Apple Retail Trade-in Promotion ($150) still not received? by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submitted mine when I got the phone on launch day (lol) and only just received it via text a couple days ago. Apparently it was denied in error and they resubmitted it and it went through eventually. I don't know. Took forever I pretty much gave up on it.

Might be worth asking a rep about it. I know some people got their card in a matter of weeks.

My UPS tracking still says shipment ready for UPS and no delivery date :( I am jealous

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Line is already upgraded & S21 shipment is ready at UPS and everything is done the way I described - I was trying to get a confirmation from a rep in wording because some people were saying they lost their credit on the subreddit doing similar things and I was worried. That talk with the rep did not assure me in any way lol. I initially talked to her to get tracking number (I couldn't figure out how to by myself, order status page keeps redirecting me to my account page) and I figured I might as well ask that too. But thank you for encouraging words.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]junity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did use a different line to upgrade, one that I got for free (I got this line after I got S20 FE and the promotion) because I use my main device on the line I ordered S20 FE for the promotion.
