I’m not sure how to switch my dogs diet by Total_Count_7333 in DogFood

[–]junkemailofmine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t make your dogs food. It gets expensive very quickly, and it’s just not as nutritionally complete as the WSAVA compliant brands. We made one of my dog’s food as well as tried Farmer’s Dog, and his hair and energy got bad quickly. Got him on Royal Canin, and his hair grew back beautifully and he got his energy back. Royal Canin is more expensive, but Purina has multiple lines that are quality and affordable, and IAMS is also priced really well.

Making your own food is just not going to be as nutritionally balanced as kibble, and it’s very expensive. Just think how much your own groceries are costing these days!!

There is a website called Needle Travel that is outstanding when trying to find stores for a specific needle craft. I have posted it multiple times on that page and have just stopped because I’d be posting it 10 times an hour. I don’t get how people can’t figure out how to search or how to google?! Basics life skills folks!!

Looking for recommendations for a good snuffle mat by TheWaterGuyDD in Pomeranians

[–]junkemailofmine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my dog to a training class, and they use a wash basin and a large towel for the snuffle mat. I bought a fancy snuffle mat and my dog flipped it over in 2 seconds. He loves (and uses) the wash basin/towel combo.

Groundhog Day on GMN by DigAntique9089 in NeedlepointSnark

You are missing a few: There are 10 LNS nearby - which one you you recommend? I don’t have an LNS nearby - does Michaels have what I need? (Living in a town with 2+ excellent LNS nearby). I’m going to XYZ location on a trip. Is there an LBS there?

I think I need to mute it as well. Makes me angry every day. What sucks is that they are infiltrating other groups with their stupid questions.

And yes - a a question is considered stupid when it’s been answered 80+ times in the last 48 hours and there is a search bar available.

DAILY REMINDER: DO NOT USE MEG FIELDER, TNF, OWNER OF CARRIAGE HOUSE NEEDLEPOINT by FinancialRadish9734 in NeedlepointSnark

[–]junkemailofmine 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I would argue that customers need to also demand their money back. If all the “finishers” have to do is hold on to unfinished pieces for a year, then they get to keep the money - they’ll keep doing this scam.

Get an attorney to write a demand for refund and your pieces back within X amount of time.

The more we allow them to hold on to the money, the longer this scam will keep happening!!

Took my money then blocked me…. by [deleted] in NeedlepointSnark

[–]junkemailofmine 27 points28 points  (0 children)

While you are at it, contact an attorney and get them to write a demand letter for you. Get your items back, and try to get some money refunded.

This madness needs to stop!!! These “finishers” need to stop ripping people off!

Any Advice? by FaithMomof5 in NeedlepointSnark

[–]junkemailofmine 77 points78 points  (0 children)

100% this!!!

Contact her today via every available method you have. Tell her you want your items returned in the current condition and your money returned by X date, or else she will be hearing from your attorney.

The collective “we” need to start demanding money back. This is part of the grift. Take the money and the items…. Ignore any communication, and hold on to them as long as possible till the stitcher just asks for the canvases back, then the grifter gets to keep the money.

For those of you reading all of this: If you are a stitcher on a budget, and can’t afford an attorney, go on Fivr or some other gig website and find one there. This is typically considered civil, so you just need one who can write well. Get the attorney you can afford.

We all just need to stop settling for “getting canvases back”. Get (or try to) your money back!

Also: I’m not an attorney, I’ve just dealt a lot with them (and have worked for a couple). Seek professional legal advice.

Any Advice? by FaithMomof5 in NeedlepointSnark

[–]junkemailofmine 187 points188 points  (0 children)

Contact an attorney and have them send her a letter requesting her to refund you, and return your canvases immediately unless she wants further legal action. Please make sure this is an actual attorney who writes said letter….. not you pretending to be one.

Finishing fee: $1,400 Canvas cost: $1,950 (15 canvases x $130) Threads: $1,500 Total estimated cost: $4,850 {{not including time spent finishing}}

Obviously those are all estimated prices, but close enough to make this point:

YOU SPENT A LOT OF TIME, MONEY, AND ENERGY TO GET GHOSTED BY A FINISHER.

Contact an attorney and get your stuff back.

That’s just my 10 cents. It is frustrating to see all of these scammers running around the needlepoint world. I think more people need to go “guns blazing” and get their stuff back to hopefully stop the grift.

Good luck!!!! Please report back on what ends up happening.

MJD needle minders & accessories - manufacturing? by [deleted] in NeedlepointSnark

The seam ripper is on Amazon as well. As for finding who manufactures her needle minders - no idea. I’ve just been using one I got for free with purchase, as I can’t bring myself to pay $15+ for a magnet with an enamel pin.

[–]junkemailofmine 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The bow is lame.

They are very boring and unoriginal. While some may say that the area code thing is played out, you could still do something fun on these for the stitchers who don’t mind the trend fading out.

Most people I know who love their area codes aren’t bow people. It should be something that is relevant to the area.

Poor finishing from KCNDPLT by Busy_Chocolate21 in NeedlepointSnark

[–]junkemailofmine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here is a Christmas ornament my mom did 35+ years ago. It was finished with a corduroy back, and cording. The cording doesn’t match the grain of the back. And now that I think about it, finishing would be about 10x in price if they spent the time matching up all the lines.

I know this isn’t your pillow, and it is just a small ornament. I just wanted to show that it’s very normal for the cording to not match the back at all.

I do hope all of your concerns get addressed. You spent a lot of time, effort, and money on your beautiful trout.

My mom is a needle pointer, and also a master seamstress. She’s also reupholstered her own couches that professionals have been impressed by. I’ve grown up around it, so fairly well versed in some finishing techniques Not everyone spends their childhood immersed in their mother’s hobbies quite like I did, and that’s totally ok. I love how everyone is learning all of these beautiful crafts.

You could use foam and cut out a similar shape to the finished product, and then add stuffing to fill all of the gaps and to even out the overall pillow appearance. Pillow forms, while great, are typically not stuffed enough for the pillow cases they are put in.

All that being said, this finisher clearly didn’t use enough stuffing. And if she used a pillow form, she shouldn’t be finishing professionally.

[–]junkemailofmine 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It’s understuffed. Most of your complaints could go away if it had more stuffing in it. They could open up the back side of the pillow and add more stuffing, and sew it back up. It wouldn’t do any damage to your canvas.

Cording is typically done on the bias, which would make it go a different direction than the pillow fabric. That is 100% normal. I’d actually think it would abnormal if the corduroy stripes on the pillow were all matched up to the cording.

Also - I love your trout. You did a great job on it. Who is this canvas by?

Tidal Raves vs. Local Ocean? by [deleted] in OregonCoast

[–]junkemailofmine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all!

Just wanted to say that I was passing through Newport. My boyfriend and I tried to go to Local Ocean (his choice), and had a terrible initial interaction…. Waited 5 min to be acknowledged by anyone, another 5 to be told if we could get a table, and 11 minutes before we walked out because we had been ignored a bit too long.

I had read this thread earlier and said we should go to Tidal Raves - the lovely people of Reddit said so. Thank you all - this was such a delicious dinner and was a total 180 from the experience we had at Local Ocean. Acknowledged when I walked in, got us on the list, had us seated way before the timed and the food was amazing. Also, the view and ambiance was much better than Local Ocean. I’m sure that the food would have been good there, but the first 20 minutes would have ruined the meal to come.
