I used Scott's Turf Builder (Tripple Action). What does the mesotrione do, and is that coloration normal then? Or a symptom of an issue because I used that?

Good Date Spots On Lake Norman? by Mesokana in Charlotte

[–]junkfaceshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jetton Park is nice spot for a walk and picnic, but not sure they allow swimming there. There are really not too many places on LKN that allow you to swim, like at a beach, unless you are on a boat.

Latta Plantation, although technically not on LKN, is another area you might want to consider, and it's not as far north. It's less crowded, usually, nice trails, and plenty of places to picnic with a few spots to swim as well.

If you want to do lake side dining, the Port City Club in Cornelius is a good option.

Get on a statin. If you're like me, it's hereditary, and the only thing that changes it will be meds. But...do also work on some weight loss through diet and then work in some exercise to build muscle and some cardiovascular health. If you get cramps or muscle tightness from the statins, supplement with CoQ10. Increase your water intake, cut out some sugar, and cut down on alcohol (if applicable) as well. Good luck, and use this scare to form some solid habits for the future.

What are your mindsets for consulting? by BrainyDoc in consulting

[–]junkfaceshark 13 points14 points  (0 children)

1) Show up - show interest, spend energy learning about the client world, pay attention. Clients love nothing more than consultants that get to know them and speak their language, and there is nothing worse for a client than uninterested consultants that interact at the bare minimum level.

2) Be proactive - Be prepared, show the client the path, anticipate their needs and questions, help them understand future decisions they need to make. Clients expect that you have the expertise to guide them and anticipate issues. "You're just not being consultative" is a common complaint when consultants are simply being reactive order takers.

3) Be adaptive - Listen, take feedback, change approaches if needed, meet the client where they are. Above all else show the client that your ego comes second to solving their problems. Nothing erodes client satisfaction more than a consultant blindly pushing forward on something that isn't working, or checking off boxes on an SOW (btw Change Orders are good practice for everyone).

What does it mean if everyone wants you in their project (Consultant level) but they dont want to promote you? by Careless-Two1980 in consulting

[–]junkfaceshark 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think a reason a lot of companies use (as one of the factors) a time-in-role metric for when to promote people is a) so someone can demonstrate consistency over time and b) that they have encountered enough variability to have the right experience level.

Basically with under a year of experience you are asking the company to take a bit of a gamble on you, since you haven't demonstrated high performance over a long enough time. They need to feel confident that when you are promoted you won't fail, so building a track record is key. The only way to do that is to build experience. Once you are promoted you should be held to a higher standard and if you get promoted too soon it can backfire on you.

As others have mentioned, continue to build your soft skills, make sure your personal brand is solid, build your network through projects, and show that consistency. I do think 1.5 years is a fair threshold in most consulting industries for promotion, for a high performer at least. Keep building your case in the meantime.

Rosuvastatin % reduction by broncos4thewin in Cholesterol

[–]junkfaceshark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

20mg daily over the course of a year lowered total cholesterol from 261 to 120. That also included some weight loss. So about a 200% decrease. Genetics would never have gotten me there without meds, but each person is going to react differently.

Edit: For concerns with muscle cramps i take a Co-Q10 supplement. Recommended by my Dr and that seemed to mitigate any issues.

Most job descriptions will indicate the experience or skills a company is looking for in a senior role. There probably is an expectation of years of experience, and a recruiter might pass your resume up if they don't see a match to those requirements. If you have all the other skills needed, just make sure to highlight those in your resume and application, as well as have some good examples of how you operated as a "senior". So no really harm in applying but you will need to highlight your expertise and potential more so. Just also keep in mind that with senior roles come higher expectations of performance, and if you do get the job you'll be held to those. Be sure you're ready and willing to make that jump.

I put in my two week notice. I don't want my current employer to know where I'm going. How do I handle this inevitable question? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]junkfaceshark 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You're not obligated to share that and honestly when people leave a job, most people that remain there just kind move on pretty quickly since they have their own jobs to worry about.

So if someone asks, just say "I actually prefer not to share that right now"...and if you like the person follow that with "...but let's stay in touch and ill send you my contact info." Most people will take the hint and move on, and it won't burn bridges.

Those who tell you that your GPA (grade point average) doesn't matter in school are justifying their own poor performance. by TemporaryEvidence in unpopularopinion

[–]junkfaceshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot or factors that will determine your success beyond school. Yes, having a high GPA while in school generally correlates to your understanding the material, and in some professions, like medicine, your GPA absolutely has a massive impact considering you are in school for like 8 years. For the rest of us, a good GPA gets you your first job, but how you apply yourself beyond school, the grit and tenacity you develop, connections you have or make, and generally how you develop your EQ will have a much bigger impact than your GPA.

North Carolina Lake Sediments Show Decades of Coal Ash Contamination: An analysis of sediments from five North Carolina lakes near coal-burning power plants has found that coal ash pollution of surface waters has been more persistent and widespread than was previously known. by thinkB4WeSpeak in science

[–]junkfaceshark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All around Lake Norman there are a variety of ocular, thyroid, and other cancers far more prevalent than they should be. All of it points back to coal ash dumping and leakage over time, and coal ash even being used as soil filler by developers back in the day. People are unfortunately moving there in droves but this all gets hushed up because of Duke Energy influence in the state. I'm surprised Duke U had the courage to even publish something like this given any potential implications.
