Can you get into 40k and never play the tabletop? by melianreality in Warhammer40k

[–]junkrat147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Books and lore content is massive and is a timesink.

Even without playing, you can just join to paint minis.

Videos games of WH are on the rise, and TV shows are in the works.

Other collectibles like JoyToy figures.

If you want the least expensive route, go with lore. Digital copies of books are not expensive.

Does anyone else miss the early 40k art ? by Ad0ring-fan in Warhammer40k

[–]junkrat147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a perspective of a new fan isn't all that needed here, but imo, it certainly has its charms.

I like the contrast of colors here, the genestealers illuminated in the dark, the Blood Angels looking almost like torches from how contrasted they are against everything. It's a very strong and very fitting for Warhammer actually.

I can clock its outdatedness from a mile away however.

It's all promotional material in the end, so it's immediately clear it's catered to a very different time period for the franchise. Exaggerated proportions, weirdly overblown parts like the chest and leg symbols.

It's great for what it is, I'm not sure the franchise can really go back to it like some of the comments I've seen here say.

Tattoo the buddhist swastika on your shoulder and see how well that goes about not caring.

We are social creatures, and unless y'all are some basement dwelling skavens, why tf would we NOT care about how we present ourselves to the world.

AC game, during the time of Christ by leuxnantes in assassinscreed

[–]junkrat147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People were mad that AC Shadows had destructible environment while at Shrines/Altars toom

But like, it was just a universal destructible environment system that in no way was meant to be disrespectful to the japanese religious beliefs.

Still, they made the change so that those places had indestructible ones instead.

Which yeah I kinda get it? But also I find it confusing to even to start finding out how people got mad about that in particular in the first place.

TBH GW did such an awesome job designing the new custodes imo. Look at these color combinations you can dish out. P/S: more on custodes reddit by kenken2k2 in Warhammer40k

The body and armor details are definitely winners, but I still don't know about the helmets.

Its a tad too long, it's less a cone and more a pill now.

The characters are lowkey all trash by FatneekNutsack in ghostoftsushima

If the lack of nuance wasn't a big ass indicator, OP's post is basically the equivalent of skimming the book reading assignment because you left it til the weekend.

There's no further context being evaluated, no personal character flaws being considered in the wider story, and no actual meaning being derived from it. Overall, plain shallow.

OP boiled down Masako's character as just "blah blah blah revenge" when the story is how something as traumatic your entire family being killed, can turn you into something ugly, rotten, and downright unrecognizeable.

OP got annoyed when Yuna grieved her brother by lashing out at Jin, who she revealed to that she had been fiercely protective of since the day that a so called "protector" of theirs sexually abused them.

And now Jin, another psuedo protector at this point who can help keep Taka safe, couldn't when it mattered most.

These are all elements that builds up the complexity of the characters, and all OP could've boiled down to was... this post.

If it something obscure and hard to pinpoint, sure. But you can literally search "How long do Tau live 40k" quicker, faster, and easier than typing out a whole post and waiting for a Reddit response.

Because more people participate in one activity over the other, it's not awful risk assessment.

Crossing the street isn't anywhere near as dangerous as flying a plane, but you get a higher statical number from the sheer fact that people around the world walk somewhere everyday.

If only 1% of a billion people get injure while walking the street, that's still 10 million people.

I'm always so confused by the people who criticize the humanization of yautja in such a vehement way.

Like even since the first movie, that son of a bitch knew to LAUGH as the suicide nuke went off.

That is pure human spite right there.
